In forest areas make sure to look up a lot also , cats loves tress and pounce on their pray . They lay flat and make no sound so every step along the way use all your senses . They are so darn fast .! Semper fi
I had an experience, watching the soup get made. When the onions and garlic got pushed into the olive oil, I could smell it. That was a very fun experience. Good Morning. Thanks for the soup.
I hiked around in the Hoh River Valley way back in 1995. It really is a "squatchy" area for sure. The whole peninsula is quite beautiful and has lots to see whether you are on foot hiking or camping at one of their breathtaking campgrounds
Welcome to The Evergreen State!!! Lifelong resident of the Olympic Peninsula and love the Puget Sound, Olympic and Cascade Mountains! Glad to see you enjoying yourself.
New Subscriber :-) Catherine, what an amazing lady you are. I am watching your trips through the Wind River Range in Wyoming. I live near the Snowy Range , Laramie Wyoming, and I want to visit Pinedale near the Wind River Range. And your filming is absolutely beautifully done. Very steady camera shots of the landscapes, and at the camp sites. You project a very calm personality and a peaceful atmosphere, with stunning views, and lovely music. And how brave and independent you are! Thank you for your wonderful hard work. Take care :-)
We live just outside the boundaries of the Olympic National Park in Port Angeles. The lush rain forests are rich in light, dark, and verdant colors. A photographer's delight. We are starting to see new snow up in the higher peaks. Beauty abounds. I'm happy to see you enjoying our region.
That was a great camp spot. Nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. What incredible scenery you captured on your hike. Thank you for another great video.
The Olympic peninsula. God's sacred forest. Inside the Olympics park you will see the original first growth trees and untouched landscape. Truly magic.
The Hoe River Trail was so pretty with the ferns and mossy looking trees. Very nice camping spot too. The soup looked so good ! Enjoyed the video. You did a great job on it.
The HOH river canyon rainforest is better than the New Zealand Milford Trak! It is the long approach for climbing Mt. Olympus! Thanks Catherine for filming this complete eco system!
Truly we were transported to another world ! Timber ( former jungle dweller) perker her are right up ! Boy you supper looked scrumptious... you go girl.!
Hi Cat! I just started the vid, paused to say I like the feeling you create with the repetitive opening coffee prep scene because I have my fresh coffee when I sit down each Sunday to watch - it's like we are having coffee together lol 😆 I know that probably sounds silly, but really, that little coffee pot is like your opening trademark, it's just neat! I don't know what you will be saying about cougars yet I'm not that far in, but I have wondered in the past if you have a game plan for encounters with dangerous animals because so many of your hikes you have mentioned bears in the area or hoisted food up in a bag to discourage foraging 🐻. I assume you know how to handle yourself but I always pray for you to be safe out there! Thanks for these fun videos, I really look forward to them! Kind of like I'm building up to doing something similar with my cute little 24 footer Grand Design Imagine XLS BHE21. So far the driveway is the majority of my getaways because I don't want to leave my cats lol
The last time I heard of a cougar warning was in a bar many years ago! 😛 But seriously, it was a nice stroll thru a lush forest and then the sunset on the beach. Best of both worlds. 👍 Happy there wasn't a cat fight!
Now that the weather has changed, I've noticed that videos of the western coastal areas are becoming common. And after getting acclimated to the change in weather, a few brave Tubers will return to film the beauty of Winter and to continue their adventures. Take care and stay warm.
The scenery of that trail is amazing! While I know the cougar risk was high, I couldn’t help expecting either a Sasquatch or … a dinosaur to push through the trees. It reminded me of Jurassic Park! 😁😁 YUM! That meal looked super yummy. Now, what can I cook for supper?
Good I’m glad you decided to take the spruce tree trail. Just to be on the safe side with the Cougar warning. The trees look amazing. It reminds me of Christmas tree spruce. I love pine trees the best for the smell. It just smell good and fresh.
Again beautiful video Catherine and enjoying watching too and the music is amazing to anyway 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎 and you be safe out there too AWESOME VIDEO Catherine 😎😃👍❤️❤️
Your Hoh backpacking trip in 2018 was the first of your videos that I watched, so it's fun to see you back! I live on the north side of the Olympics and am so grateful for these forests, beaches, and mountains.
Wow great camping spot at the beach! I can tell you are loving the travel trailer much better than the truck camper. It's so important to be able to detach and be nimble when exploring. Great video, thanks.
Thanks Cat for sharing your latest adventure. You campsite by the water was beautiful. I love sleeping with the sound of braking waves, very peaceful. Take care, watch out for the Big Cats, they are not as nice as the Cat we all know and love. Have a wonderful stay.❤🎃
I have my rocks and drift wood from 2 separate visits to that beach. I didn't really know how to take it when my friends here in South Alabama wanted to compare it to Panama City Bch. Enjoyed the Hoh National Park. There is a town further south on hwy 101, Hoquiam, Washington. Go to the 8th Street Ale House and order the FARMERS HAMBURGER 🍔 👌. Then just a few miles further south out of Hoquiam " 11.2 miles" is another diner on the left CLARK'S RESTAURANT, you can get a milk shake. Enjoyed the video!RIDE SAFE

I'm fro NashvilleTn. and The Olympic Peninsula is my all time favorite place in the US. I've even had a 2 week stay in the town of Forks Washington. Amazing hiking in Hoh Rain Forest and beach hiking along with the best tidepooling . Im also a huge Twilight fan, lol. Thank you for sharing this trip.
Catherine, You really do make beautiful videos with lots of variety and wonderful music selection. Also a real inspiration to get into the lovely outdoors. Take care on your next hikes :-) Cheers, RJ
I was up the Hoh River Trail in September on a solo day hike to the Olympus Guard Station. Saw the Cougar warnings but went anyways thinking there would be other hikers. Saw a couple of backpackers further up but there was an hour or two when I didn't see anybody. Got pretty nervous! Hoping to convince someone to backpack up to the Glacier with me next year. Watched your 2018 video and have had it on my bucket list ever since. Thanks!
Another beautiful video, Cat. I love the plant closeups and mountain views. Such interesting trees with that huge root system, and the hanging "moss?" I might try that neato recipe too. Thanks for all your work!!
Love the watershed and bioregional aspects you described. Ecological context enriches the narrative and expands the mindset from arbitrary maplines to include the physical layout of the landscape and the life it grows.
You are right about the Cougar's being more of a threat than bears. I spent the summer in Alaska this year, I was more worried about moose than bears. Incredible views on that hike. thank you so much for getting that footage. Well you sure can cook, that soup looked great. If you ever get bored of hiking, you could do a video on the cameras you use and what editing software you use. CYA in the next one Cat
You should spend a night at the Log Cabin Resort on Lake Crescent. If you don't you have missed the best part of the Olympic Penninsula. My family owned this resort back in the 70'S.
That Cougar warning sign has been up all summer and I am there many many times and haven't seen it yet. I did see a Bear and was chased by a Bull Elk during the rut though. :)
Great video. Years ago I had a Cougar encounter on Vancouver Island. I managed to scare him off before he saw me, but you can bet I didn't stick around afterwards. Happy trails...
Catherine: You are wise to take extra precautions with cougars, as they will stalk you, unlike a bear. I have hike the very trail you were on in this video. The Hoh river is an excellent steelhead flyfishing river in the winter, although the population is diminiishing.
Absolutely beautiful scenes and hike. So glad you had a more populated trail to hike. I don't know why but it is so calming for me to watch you make your morning coffee and breakfast. I catch myself smiling when you start the vid off with that. Odd, but that's just the way I roll. As always, we love your vids and following along with you. Thanks for bringing us. Stay safe and enjoy!
Another epic adventure from Catherine! Wow! I’m with you about being more concerned about Mountain Lions than Bears. At scout camp with my sons many years ago, a mountain lion attacked one of the camps horses in the middle of the night, only about 100 ft from where we were sleeping in tents. I have never heard such a horrifying sound!! The horse survived but had some nasty gashes! We also had bears at another camp we went to, but we locked the food in metal “bear boxes” , and when a bear came around, the banging of pots and pans was enough the shoo them off. At that camp, we slept out on wooden decks . One night one of the staff awoke to find a bear noseing in her pants pocket. She had chewing gum in her pocket. Much screaming ensued and the bear ran off. Not sure who was more frightened, the staff member, or the bear! Lol Love your channel Cat! Be safe and stay well!
Beautiful Hoh River Forest with old growth trees, ferns, and a cougar thankfully not close by! That Mother tree with all of the little trees growing from its tangle of roots was amazing! Your Kalaloch campsite with its wonderful ocean views was spectacular too. I've camped further north at Mora Campground/Rialto Beach which has a two mile hike through Hole-in-the-Wall to tide pools. Along the way, sea stacks, cobblestone beach, seals, whales, osprey, bald eagles, and oyster catchers (seabirds) can been seen. Nearby is Second and Third Beaches, La Push, etc. There's also the Three-River Cafe/Resort for groceries, cabins, and food. Have fun wherever you venture to next! Jenny
Hi Catherine--FYI: I received another one of those winner of Camping Gears "Text Me Telegram" messages. They're still trying to use your TH-cam platform for their business. Jenny
Another beautiful video. We were in Washington in June this year but didn't go to the west side. I travel with a dog so can't go on those hikes, that is why I watch your videos to see these places I can't go. Next year I want to return and go to Forks and see sites on the west side.
Beautiful and surreal park, the wildlife makes it very interesting.
That cougar roaming around the trail respected that there was fellow Cat in the area and left you alone. 😁
Cats play with KatS !"!
I did enjoy coming along. I'm an old man now. 20 years ago I would be wanting to hike with you.😊Salute👍
Thanks for sharing Catherine. Beautiful photography and video. Turns out you were the only "Cat" (short for Catherine) out there. Glad you were safe.
Another good Sunday morning; coffee and a great video from Catherine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😎😎😎😎😎

Washington is a beautiful state. It’s nice you got some sunshine. Great shots and beautiful forest. Thanks again for taking us along.👍🏻
Cougar warning!!! Cat is that you? 🥰
I had an experience, watching the soup get made.
When the onions and garlic got pushed into the olive oil, I could smell it.
That was a very fun experience.
Good Morning. Thanks for the soup.
That’s awesome. Thank you!
Breathtaking rain forest 🌳. Plenty of Keebler elf trees!! If you find Edward Cullen from Twilight send him my way !! Super video, Cat. 👍🏻🙋🏼♀️🧛♂️

Washington's National Parks are one of the main reasons I still live here. Thank you for filming this beautiful scenery.
Beautiful country, hike, and soup-thanks for sharing. This is one part of the country that I haven't visited, makes me want to go and explore.
Beautiful video as usual. You are in my neck of the woods, and you do the area justice. Enjoy your adventure!

Love the trees, sounds, and the little cat-a-piller. Thanks for sharing!! Time for hot chocolate. Have a nice day!
I agree with you 100% - Cougars are much more scary than bears! Thanks for brightening my morning with the beautiful scenery of the Pacific Northwest.
