Love your videos Catherine. Your channel is my absolute favorite to watch! You don't overtalk while hiking, allowing the beauty around you to speak. Also love the music you select. Was just at Mono lake a week or two ago.and yes, there was snow on the Sonora pass.
Both sides of the Owens Valley...never get old...Great hike with friends...
I heard that putting out a fake owl will keep birds away.
I have seen them with a suction cup on the bottom so you can place it
where you need it. It is something I often see here in Florida.

Always fun to hike with friends! I just got back from a hiking adventure with friends in South Carolina, so great to see the mountains and the rivers, makes you feel alive❤
When I was a youngster, my grandfather introduced me to exploring and appreciating the wilderness on his 141.5 acres of timberland in Aiken County, South Carolina. Those forests have endured much over the years. My exploring several times a year until I went off to college, started a career, and then got married. Sometimes, I explored alone. Sometimes with cousins. And, sometimes with friends. Other than witth my grandfather, the most fun times were with my "puppy"... a Gerrman Shepherd/Siberian Husky who refused to ever grow-up! After being confined to a suburban backyard, he went nuts in those woods! Alas, my future ex-wife enjoyed the city more. So, trips to the farm became less frequent. When my daughter came along, I was successful at getting her to like the woods. The only problem was I started letting her go explore on her own as long as she stayed in earshot. My future ex- was aghast. I wanted my daughter to develop a love of nature, adventure, self-confidence, and curiosity. One afternoon, she shouted, "Daddy! Come here!" We were both scared. She pointed at what she found. I laughed and cried. It was something I hadn't seen since I was a youngster. It was an old hot water heater that looked like it had been "butterflied". My grandfather had bought a "quarter-stick", lit it, dropped in the thing and took off with my friend Jimmy and me. After a few minutes, there was a "Boom!", that people were talking about for a few weeks. Those woods also saw antenna experiments I could only dream of in suburbia. After my grandmother went into assisted living I started "adding" seedlings every spring. Although that ended with career responsibilities and being a single dad for much of the time. Now that I'm on my own and retired, I go back several times a year. Having a 4X4 enables me to cover more ground than hiking alone. The taxes, heat, humidity, and crime rate keep me from moving down there. But, I still hike the forests that were once my grandfather's. And since 1989, have been mine. TNX for letting me share...

Thanks for the video. I love love love the Eastern Sierras. I have been going and camping there since I was 6 yrs old. I was just there in Sept. My videos are starting to post. I did a trip with my friend Kelly. We are both in our 70's. We had our own RVs and I towed my Honda CRV. Kelly had never been to the Eastern Sierras, so I showed her all about. We did visit Mono lake and the Tufas. That video will be coming up.

Lot of beautiful scenery in the Mammoth Lakes and June Lakes area must be a real treat for folks from back east.
It is popular with people from the least coast. Years ago, at a Bodie Foundation dinner held at the Bridgeport Barns, I saw a 4x4 with D.C. plates. And, another 4X4 with VA plates!
My favorite part of Calif.. I told you once that I lived in Lone Pine for over 10 years.. I am thinking hard of moving back.. I love your video's...

On the Jeffrey Pine have you ever, smelled the tree. I have had the smell of butterscotch and maple. Between the bark, in the fall cool weather is when I've been in the Alpine county Markleville area.

Just went through the eastern sierras from Montana on a big trip with my new Springdale trailer! Took the scenic route butt stayed in Coeurd’alene Idaho, Sisters Oregon then Bridgeport California and finally home to the Coachella Valley. Beautiful trip.

My favorite place on earth during the most wonderful Time of the year. .. I try to go twice a year (spring & fall) and try to get to Yosemite at least one of those times. This year my schedule has been so busy I didn’t get to go in the spring. I just booked my flight yesterday for my fall trip hopefully before the snow comes in so I can actually get into Yosemite from Lee Vining for a day or so.
If not, still plenty of other options in the area.
By the way, I have been meaning to try AG for a while and haven’t gotten around to it. I used your affiliate link to order and hoping it can take the place of my whole food vitamin, probiotic, and digestive enzymes as they say. It’s worth a try. Your pictures are stunning. Back in the day when I was much younger I would buy a season ski pass at Mammoth Mountain so the area carries special memories for me. June Lake Loop is another favorite.
