This was one of the first true supergroups. David Crosby was a founding member of the Byrds, Steven Stills and Neil Young were founding members of the Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash was a founding member of the Hollies. Each band had multiple top ten singles. Their second live performance as a group was at Woodstock in front of a 400,000 people.

This one and the Fleet Foxes' "Helplessness Blues". I think they're what I listen the most when depression takes over. If you haven't listen to the latter, it's very much in the vein of '70s folk and Robin Pecknold's voice really soothes me.

The song you're humming is, "Carry On Wayward Son," by the band Kansas.
This song by CSNY didn't even break the top 100 on the charts; the album it came from, Deja Vu went Platinum and was # 1 for one week. Four singles from it charted but none made it higher than #11, (Woodstock).
Neither CSN nor CSNY have ever had a number 1 Billboard single.
"Southern Cross," went to #1 in Canada; "Got It Made," made #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart of most played songs.
Neil Young had a #1 single with "Heart Of Gold" in 1972

What a blast from the past and I'm still grinning. Let me tell you a little of the memories that I have. First my favorite song of all from these guys is Southern Cross hands down. And I was still living on Sand Mountain born and raised. I was just a hop, skip and a jump from Lookout Mountain where Randy Owens "Alabama lead singer" was raised. I remember bell bottoms and a Boone's Farm tee shirt that I loved so this would have been about the age of 14 I guess. But here's the funny thing I remember. At least to me it is. It's about my grandpa's. One was a very strict Baptist preacher. And the other was a bootlegger. And strangely enough I learned about the goodness of God from the goodness of my people from the bootlegger side of my family. This will probably bore most people. But still this is my memories just from hearing C,S,N, and Y again.

For country I'd check out The Gatlin Brothers Band. All the Gold in California is their biggest hit, but I love Broken Lady. The current country harmony masters in my opinion is Little Big Town. Sober is my favorite. For 70's rock definitely listen to The Little River Band. Lady, and Cool Change are my favorites.

Crosby Stills Nash & Young album Deja Vu.
Each member, a legendary and accomplished musician in their own right.
The album is a remarkable and unforgettable masterpiece.
I think I’ve used almost all of my adjectives.
Just listen. The lyrics and music themselves are a feat of writing that I don’t think most of my generation will ever forget.
    Thank you for this…
I always knew these harmonies would float your boat😊
There are many lessons of life included as
    well.
Please listen to the entire album, even if you don’t react to all of the songs.

Saw CS&N in Roanoke VA. In 1990 . Stills Starting going off on Senator Jesse Helms . Everyone looked puzzled .
Stills later apologized . He thought he was in Charlotte NC. Helms represented NC .
Mr. Crosby and Mr. Nash had to be two of the nicest and respectful people you'd ever want to meet .

I have to say this to you that you are one of the few people who have these reaction videos that really respect the music, the art and doesn't chop it up every 30 seconds with constant prattle. I thank you for that and I wish others would follow your example

Winding paths through tables and glass
      First flowers bloom
      Now watch the Summer pass
      So close to you
Too late to keep the change
      Too late to pay
No time to stay the same
      Too young to leave
No pass out sign on the door set me thinking
Are waitresses paying the price of their winking
While stars sit at bars and decide what they're drinking
They drop by to die because it's faster than sinking
Too late to keep the change
      Too late to pay
No time to stay the same
Too late to keep the change
      Too late to pay
No time to stay the same
      Too young to leave
Find out that now was the answer to answers
      That you gave later
She did the things that we both did before now
      But who forgave her?
If I could stand to see her crying
I would tell her not to care
When she learns of all your lying
      Will she join you there?
Country girl I think you're pretty
      Got to make you understand
Have no lovers in the city
Let me be your country man
      Got to make you understand
      Got to make you understand

So glad you enjoy the amazing CSNY. I wore my copy of this record right out, and I still listen to it regularly. It takes me right back to my youth, when we used to throw massive parties when our parents would go away for the weekend. We'd listen to this album when we needed people to chill, and it worked so well. My sister and I also did a mean rendition of "Helplessly Hoping" off this record.

Their entire catalog makes me happy, the diversity of their songs and their harmonies work best of most every other group. True singer song writers, all members. My all time favorite is Southern Cross.

I heard this live back in the mid 70s, It's the reason I bought a Gibson Firebird guitar--It's what Stephen Stills played. On the album, he also played the acoustic. Great song.

Everything they did together is amazing whether it’s Crosby, Stills & Nash or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. I’m not sure where to request an artist so I’ going to do it here. I love Jackson Browne. I can’t narrow it down to one song. So here are a few songs. The Load Out/Stay live version. Two of his rock songs: The Pretender & Running on Empty. Two more acoustic songs For a Dancer & Fountain of Sorrow.

2 of them actually sang backup for the BeeGees. They performed live at Woodstock for the first time as a group in front of an audience. They Sang Joni Mitchell’s song Woodstock and had a hit with it.

They are one of the first Supergroups and you should check out their original bands. David Crosby (the Byrds), Graham Nash (The Hollies) and Stills and Young (Buffalo Springfield). There were a number of British musicians that changed groups but these guys changed the world.

This album came out when I was a teen, and they are still my favorite band. I have leterally listened to the entire album hundreds of time (repeating record players). Carry-On was great and Suite Judy Blue Eyes came off this album as well, but if you want to hear the four of them in perfect harmony, listen to "Helplessly Hoping". These guys dominated the radio and concert venues at the time, and were the vanguard of the conscious rock movement. They even put out a song about the Chicago Riots , and one about the killing of the 6 student protestors by National Guard Units called "Ohio". You, Sir, have stumbled on one of the most influential bands of my youth. Thanks so much for helping me remember who I used to be. Thank you for helping me remember the magic of those days.

I remember listening to this song as a kid with my Mom, always mad me feel good when hearing it and have been a fan of this group since. I wasn't old enough to see them in concert back in the day but I did see them in 2006 and they still sounded great. This is a song that can be very uplifting in these times as it was back then. At the moment we are all carrying on and trying to stay positive through all of what is going on now. It's good to just turn off the news and turn on a song like this to keep your spirits up. Thanks for the video!

It would be a real treat for you to just listen to their albums and pick your own songs. There are no bad ones!
