- Australian crystal opal is the second most valuable type of opal in the world next to the elusive and super rare black opal.
Crystal opal is a translucent type of silica that has the most amazing 3D play of color.
This gem displays that amazing 3D color on Color but has a few issues and inclusions that need to come out for it to be a perfectly cut gem.
Stay tuned to see what comes of this rock - warning, you may need to wear sunnies!

Man, idk. that might be the brightest, most colorful opal I've seen you cut. We really need a showcase video of all your best gems even if it's little cuts from previous videos. You have so cut so many great looking gems.
The one from under his dad's shed was pretty spectacular.
I’m home sick with Covid and I’ve watched all of your videos now I’m sad because I don’t have any new videos to watch 😢 I appreciate your sense of humor and watching your videos is so peaceful ❤ I’m watching in upstate western NY lots of love
Justin each turn of precision makes the Kaleidoscope bliss
At first, I would’ve said, Dremel out the sand and put another opal right in that spot. But the stone you created is so beautiful, I have changed my mind. You did the exact right thing. And that’s why I don’t cut opals for a living. I just enjoy the ones I have.
Kathy ❤
The color on this opal is absolutely divine. That color and pattern is absolutely top notch. God sure is amazing and Justin's cutting skills really do this stone justice.
That is one of the most vibrant crystal opals I've seen you cut ever!
You are magician!
You're the goat of opal cutting, and teaching people along the way.
I think that is the most attractive crystal opal I have seen.
Wow the clarity on that crystal is divine! What a way to start 2024!
Welcome back BOD team, can't wait to see what this year brings you :D
That is one of the brightest and prettiest Opals I have seen you cut! Thanks for sharing it Justin!
Wow, thanks!
What an absolutely dreamy crystal opal, I am very jealous of whoever buys it! 😍 If I had that stone in a ring, I would stare at it all day long and people would wonder why I kept moving my hand 😆
Lol,I just wrote nearly the same comment! It's quite a true statement, though. It truly is a knockout gorgeous crystal gem! ❤
@@cathifamjourney469 great minds think alike 😀
Wow , that Crystal Opal has a kaleidoscope of color especially when you rotate it ! Thank you Justin for sharing this with me !
Wow. It might only be a smidge over a carat. But that Opal is ethereal.
It's like a small, crystal clear pool of water with tropical fish dancing threw it.
A delight to behold.
That was an absolutely beautiful gem. And loved how you played out the play of colours. And yes, all of us who have bought your opals love them and plan to pass them on to our grandchildren
Thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Stunning!!!
😢
What an absolutely stunning opal. It will bring many years of enjoyment to a lucky person. 😊
I think so too!
To see so much beautiful opal disappear almost hurt physically, but I agree that what you did was the optimal choice.
Go Maestro Go!! Got on early. Finally retired.(75). Beautiful piece sir.
Nice enjoy
That PINK is crazy !😱🤣😂
So many colors, so much movement and play, bright and crisp. Amazing.
I’ve missed our Monday nights together and then you come back with bang! Wish I could see it in person. ❤️to all at BOD!
Absolutely gorgeous. That gem nearly shines of it's own light, the play of color is so intense. Truly makes me happy to look at it! Thank you Justin.❣
Good morning BOD and family, staff and friends of BOD. Greetings from Dimboola, in Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺. 😊
Good morning Nancy, thanks for tuning in, hope you have a wonderful day ⭐️
Great! Come and see Black Opal, the world's largest
Each gem you create is breath taking.
That is the one of the brightest I’ve seen. Absolutely beautiful.
The love of opal shines in every single one you cut. This is so beautiful.
The brightness of the colours are amazing, almost like it's lit from within. Beautiful!
Crystal opal by for the prettiest of the opal world! If I had the money Id have been straight online to buy that! Just stunning!
Whoo-wee, that little booger is on fire. Very nice. Well done.
That is one of the most beautiful stones I have ever seen you cut Justin. Presonally I prefer black opals, but I still think that is beautiful.
Wow! It's like the different colors are reflecting or bouncing off and against each other. I love the orange color.
That stone is simply Magical.!!!!
Glad you’re back for 2024! Yay!
Glad to be back
Hello Justin , I hope you and your family had a great holiday . Watching you cut and polish that opal just amazes me . Wow ! It turned out beautifully !
So beautiful. I don’t see myself buying an opal, but I love to watch you cut them.
Nature's supernatural miracle - OH WOW - QUEEN OF GEMS - this is spectacular Justin. Just fabulous! :-)
I'm not usually a huge fan of crystal opal, but this one is fantastic! Those pinks are amazing!
The depth of colour is amazing 😍
I saw your thumbnail in my sub feed a few days ago, and because of the original title, I didn't click. Probably because I had just been purging a bunch of content farm channels in my recommended list and my 'clickbait' radar was turned up to the max. But when I saw this title, I clicked. I like the challenges you face, and I like a descriptive title. Thanks, mate. Love your work as always.
Some of the most vibrant colors ive ever seen i really like the stones where alot of carat weight isnt potch
Justin, this one takes my breath away and fills me up with the most amazing feeling. Thank you so very much? ❤😅
That opal made my heart ache. Brilliant!😊😊
I have a handful of stones from black opal direct and I could never imagine purchasing opal from anyone else.
I truly believe he by far one of the greatest opal cutters alive today.
Yes there are plenty of people that can cut opal but not quite like Black Opal Direct
Shucks my head has now grown haha. Thank you 🙏
What a cracking piece of crystal opal Justin!
clearly the nicest opal I have seen you cut. just over a carat but still the nicest!
I’m sure the miner’s who discover a stone like this don’t realize how much is lost to refining it into a beautiful gem. They think it’s worth thousands more in it’s rough state because of its size….. but it’s only worth what it is in its gem state. A lot is lost. This is where a gemologist is worth his wages. Utilizing every thousandth of an inch of that stone👍
Justin, my eyes actually teared up, looking at this gem. It has all the colors! I am quite jealous of whoever gets this beauty. It's probably good that it isn't me because i would get literally nothing done at all because of looking at this opal! ❤
.
That is good, stable, old school crystal opal.
This episode was enchanting.
Such a beautiful crystal.
Turned into a ripper Justin!
Jellies really can look gorgeous.
Have a ripper mate!
I’ve had a lot of fun watching the thumb ding grow out lol. Been there done that!!🤣😂🤣😂
Hello from France! Loved the video, this was a realllyyy beautiful cut!! ✨
Would love to see the before next to the after at the end of the video, next in the future!
As maybe this way the people telling that you "waste the color" of the stone would really see the work you do, and how you highlight the qualities of the gemstone!
Im binge watching every gem cutting and lapidary video on youtube. You're really a pleasure to watch.
I've been looking for new career paths and gemcutting is very attractive to me. Opal seems like a much more advanced material, but I can see why so many people are hooked.
Welcome aboard!
Its because of your videos and teaching that I have started cutting opals and other stones at home. Its been a more learn it by doing teaching myself, but with knowledge from your videos I have been able cut a couple stones I'm proud of.
That is awesome!
Wow, beautiful, magical, it could put a spell on you! Justin, you are a master gem cutter nodoubt! Keep up the great content! We always want more! Catch you on the next. ✌️😊
Wow, thank you!
4000 what a bargain!! You work magic on these beautiful pieces of nature!
I love these special gems like that one. Someday I'd like to roll one around in my own fingers to see the play of color. The jewelry stores at our local mall only have a few white boring ones
What a fabulous opal, Justin!
Stunning beauty. Well done Justin. Well done.
Wow one of the best little crystal gems ive seen on this channel Justin. Ideal for an engagement ring not too big and plenty of colours. Hard to let that one go
Gotta love Opal! That’s magnificent Justin congratulations!
Magnificent gem. Thank so much for documenting its creation and sharing the video.
Sounded like you originally intended to slice the gem such that the sand pit would be on the edge. Perhaps, I just misunderstood your comments.
In any event, the final product was amazing.
Beautiful gem! The colours were popping!! Great job Justin. Hope everyone at BOD had a great Christmas.
Thanks for a great start to 2024. I was missing watching my favourite channel. 💖🇭🇲
Thanks again!
The aquamarine color in that gem is stunning.

Wow brother. That stone is pure color. Looks like a rainbow seed. Amazing.
One word! Dazzling.
Another little beauty - Justin, your videos have really opened my eyes as to how stunning these gems can be. I guess that previously I’ve only ever seen pretty, but mediocre opals. I still don’t think they are the stone for me but, man - I really love them now!
It sounds like you may have a dragon's hoard of beautiful opals. As a fellow dragon, I'm jealous!
I am totally smitten with your stone. Not like is will ever happen but, Aussie is on my bucket list. I would love to find a opal any type 😅
😶🫥 Oh, my goodness, I would have loved to have bought that stone as is before you touched, Shaped it 🫥😶
How much does a stone like that go? Without cutting, polishing, it or anything just raw
Beautiful gem of a crystal. The crystal opals are definitely my favourite too.
Yeah that's a gem. Beautiful
Another beautiful gem from the master. Congratulations!
That's a beautiful stone if one ever existed! You can't despise humble beginnings for sure.
Maestro that should have been collected. To show us periodically it's beauty, and the wonder of your work. Superb job sir.

I like the 3D effect on this gem.

Hello Justin, I only know one thing about Australian Opels, and that's there the best in the world, please correct me if iam wrong,,,,,, besides that I know absolutely nothing else about our Australian opels, though watching you for the first time here, iam hooked, and just subscribed without any hesitation at all....I really look forward receiving notification, and learning more from a master craftsmen, that opel is absolutely stunning, iam blown away, never seen anything like that ever, I'm a collector of Marbles, handmade Marbles, some over 100 years old, and many handmade modern ones from some awesome glass artists,,,,But This,,,,,This Opel, had to be crafted, created by the hands of God himself, no human being alive, could ever make such a beautiful, piece of natural Art like this ever,,,,this is something else, thank you so much for shearing, truly unbelievable.
God Bless🤜🏻🤛🏻🕶👍🏻
That is insane!!!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Ridiculously beautiful stone!!!!!!
Just pure beauty.
If you ever get an opal with a sand spot dead center that can't get removed, I'd love to see you put a diamond in that hole. Please!!!!!
NOT a diamond, a gemstone that picks up the main or most interesting color, adding sparkle without overwhelming the opal.
YES
Note on my note, a small cabochon would be even better in some opals.
What a beautiful stone. The colors are amazing. Great job Justin.😊
Spectacular!!! Unbelievable beauty!!
