Personally, Justin, I like that little bit of Potch in the centre. It gives that Opal even more character, I think!! I love it!! It's a stunning Opal, even with that tiny bit of Potch in it!! This might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually preferred this gem with the dark potch in the centre at the point you took it to the finer wheel.
I loved the aesthetic of the triangular black potch in the dead centre surrounded by the four separate fields of dancing colour that almost perfectly quartered the gem.
To me the effect was kind of 'magical portal' and was really attractive.

Inclusions make a precious stone a signature piece. It can be identified from ALL the other stones by that inclusion. The "seeing eye" opal was fabulous! This black potch signature is clearly one of a kind! I believe such stones, depending on the inclusion, will increase in value because of its individual nature. I have considered an amethyst stone that has a darker color in the middle as if it's giving birth to something precious! But the seller wanted too much for it. And now I regret not buying it.

Hi Justin Canada here. I never thought I would spend time watching opal cutting and polishing. I'm hooked now and find it kind of therapeutic to watch the stones turn into beautiful gems. Your skills are remarkable! I watch a lot of automotive restorations and it takes a long time to see the finished result. With your work it takes just minutes to see something beautiful and with metal work and final paint it can take months.

Opal is and has been my favorite gemstone for as long as I can remember, and watching your videos makes my heart beat so fast! G'day Justin. Been watching you cut for years from Newfoundland, Canada. Absolutely love you, mate. Your new Gemfish IF1 is a real beauty too. Been waiting for 2 years for the final reveal. Tres impressive piece of kit my friend. Unfortunately it's a bit pricey for me. Now if it were waterproof and $199 AUD and not USD then I would definitely pull the trigger. Another great opal cutting video as always today and Tamika's 2 second cameo was actually very funny. I can always count on a BOD vid to lift my spirits after a night shift of nursing. So disappointed for you when the black blob refused to completely clear out, but hey that's opal for ya and you did cut an incredible stone when all was said and done. Total emotional rollercoaster, mate. I bloody love it when the color travels across the stone like that, with such effortless fluidity. OMG! OMG! OMG! I don't recall hearing a finished carat weight though? Congrats! Dougie : )

I bought a gem light about two years ago. It cost $50, including shipping. It's also waterproof. And in the two years I've had it, I've charged it once. It came with its own charger, (and the charger is pretty small) And I use it a lot. Got it from Riley Gunn. Good alternative, for those on a budget. I also want to eventually get a gem fish i.f. 1 as well. I'd love to support one of my favorite channels in that way.
