    I am a a&r manager and what he said is definitely true a lot of artists are getting signed to early sometimes it’s just the one song and the artist might not be meant to go the long run

    From my own understanding. It is tougher these days to find a true artist to sign to a label. The reason being that there’re so many music out there. Having your music on social media is not truly a guarantee that an artist could be signed. It really depends on who you know and the connections you have.

    • @MUBUTV
      @MUBUTV  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Indeed, the music industry has always been a highly competitive field, and with the advent of social media and streaming platforms, it’s become even more challenging to stand out. While having music on social media can provide visibility, it’s not a surefire way to get signed to a label.
      Here are a few things that can help an artist increase their chances:
      Networking: Building relationships with people already in the industry can open doors. This could be other musicians, producers, or even people who work at record labels.
      Creating a strong brand: Having a clear, unique image that’s reflected in everything from the music itself to the cover art and social media posts.
      Consistently releasing quality music: Record labels want to see that an artist can produce great music time and time again.
      Live performances: These can help build a fanbase and demonstrate an artist’s skills and charisma.
      Having a professional attitude: Treat the music career like any other job - this means being reliable, meeting deadlines, and being easy to work with.
      Remember, getting signed is not the only measure of success. Many artists have built successful careers without ever signing to a label.
      Thanks for watching. MUBUTV!

    Exceptional interviews as always. This episode really resonated with me. Mikes perspective seems very approachable. Those last few statements were gold. Songs last forever is so cool to hear from the top. When he said I guarantee someone will find you. This shot some wind into my sails. And lastly, commerce follows art not the other way around. Ice Spice has proven everything in this video is totally false. All of this may have been true at one time in the distant past, but the current acts certainly are not being signed for their talent, skill, amazing music, or even for their hardcore fanbase. Their whole modus operandi now is to put out controversial people, and to make cringy music for the cheap views. There is literally nothing great, inspiring, creative, artistic, credible about any of the music being made in any genre across the board right now in the mainstream. No one wants to take a chance on a new sound, and other entertainment companies are focused on pushing a political narrative even to the point that they have to close their businesses. I can't imagine that people involved in producing large budget projects are so out of touch musically that they will continue to force feed the public the same boring beats, lyrics, topics, horrible sound quality, brainless songwriting, so on and so forth. Let's not forget the attempt at getting "FN Meka" out to the masses. A stereotypical rap artist who talks about murder, drugs, and wasteful spending of money, gang life, etc, who screamed out N words, and the creator of this computer-generated rap artist were all white people. What that showed me, is the music companies WANT this kind of music into the public. And they want to keep pushing this even to the point if the people no longer support it at all. So far in 2023 there has been no rap and hip-hop songs charting at number 1 on billboard despite the millions of dollars being poured into it to make more "Ice Spices, and human versions of FN Meka".

      I would have to agree with you here. For me I know that I have some powerful original work that I feel is my own sound, and one that I've worked hard at creating. But sadly the masses would never be in to it because of the artistic quality that I try to bring. At one time I thought ok, I'm going to write crazy poetic lyrics that speak to the subjects that are uncomfortable to contemplate, then I add in my own style of guitar matched with my own style of singing and emotional performance possibly it would stand out. Well I was wrong. Lol. Anyway great comment. Take care

      @@KoryYinger there was a time when the more creative, the more artistic, the more unique, an artist's display of individualism and their ability to bring a fresh new sound to the music industry, and at the same time that music being catchy, compelling, well produced, an engineered very well, would be insanely popular. I think those kind of songs could still be popular today, but the music industry refuses to put any money in marketing music like that. With the fact that the major music business being in control of all major media outlets, any kind of sound that they want to put to the public for consumption, they could put it in heavy rotation, and force feed it to the masses. I feel like there's somewhat of an agenda against creativity, and uniqueness in music. I don't know why, those qualities are exactly what made the timeless hit records of the past, and I'm sure just like in your situation, there's many people creating unique, compelling, fantastic music that the public would love. Love. But it's never getting the light of day, these A&Rs are deliberately closing access for an artist with their own sound to rise up in today's music industry.

    • @musicbizregistry
      @musicbizregistry ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Vigilantestylez, Thanks so much for your note. I understand what you're saying but the reality of the business today is that the world of Major Label Acts, like the examples you mentioned, is just a small element of the music world today. Today, you can't just look at what the Major Labels are signing as 40% of the music/artists in the marketplace today are Independent Artists. I believe that there is great, inspiring, creative, artistic, and credible music BUT I feel that you have to look a lot harder and deeper than just the Major Label signings to find those artists - AND IN TODAY'S MUSIC MARKETPLACE - THAT CAN BE DAUNTING! Thanks so much for listening. I hope you continue to join us! Thanks so much, Ritch Esra / Eric Knight - MUBUTV

    • @vigilantestylez
      @vigilantestylez ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@musicbizregistry Thank you for your response. 🙂Yes, I feel like major labels have changed their focus from looking for and discovering new amazing talent, to cashing in on controversy and image. It seems like they aren't listening much to their A&Rs or perhaps have downsized and made cutbacks in that department to save money. We do live in times with an overly saturated market of music, much of which is subpar, so it can be a daunting task to find those diamonds in the rough. I really enjoyed the video, and much of the information is solid, it just seems like today's industry is so confusing anymore, and we are in times of incredible change in all industries. I don't want to sound like an old guy when I say today's music is trash, but I did like the new music up until about 2020 so I am not totally outdated. I hope this strange fad in the music business about putting out cringy but sexy artists goes away, and the focus on putting out good music with solid production, compelling songwriting, and incredible talent comes back to the mainstream. One can only hope. 😎

    Clearly, one must write songs that are just as good, if not better than, the well-known songs… and be able to perform them with an exceptional level of passion.
