You know what’s wild, Finn. You built Blasphemi because of an iconic movie, and now the car you built is way more famous and iconic than the original idea. And not just that, you’ve always maintained the exact same character and demeanour of the years. I think that’s extremely special, can’t wait to get over the ocean and have a chance to meet you in person. Thanks for the years of content and inspiration you’ve provided to not just me but thousands (maybe millions) of other car enthusiasts. 🇦🇺
I’d say it’s more famous. Two lane blacktop isn’t a well known movie unless you are a die hard classic car person. Mike is known by many many people across the country and is famous on the internet
@FinnegansGarage I have to second @stiffkovic's comment. No matter the poo poo, you always are smiling and cool. The opposite of "you know who" DF. Your mellow attitude is to be admired and emulated.
That would be really cool to see the old front end got to Tony. All the work he has done going beast mode lifting the gear box back in and rebuilding the engine, and hitting you in the head with that iron bar.
Just an observation, with my years of fiberglass work , when you put the rivets through, you should have put small rivet washers on the backside so the rivet doesn't crush into the glass ..cars looking great ..
I would add a small plate to the top of the front hood hinge and sandwich the fiberglass hood between it to help prevent the vibration and force from cracking it.
Hey there Mike! When you were threading the hood pin, put the exposed thread in the vise once you get get it threaded into the die. It will booger the threads but you're cutting them off anyway. Anyways love the work you do!
Wives also love it when you clean car parts in the dishwasher. They love it even more when you bake your freshly painted parts in the oven. 15" wheels fit in a standard oven. Ask me how I know.
when putting pop rivets into fiberglass if you put a small washer on the back side for the rivets to pull against it will last longer and won't bust out the fiberglass, just a little FYI 😂
You will make it friend I belive in you as a hard worker and dedicated racer/ hot rodder in general. I would love to have ¼ of your fab knowledge friend. I love your content and watching you work. Plus, you share knowledge with us. I've learned a lot from you. Keep up the hard work dedication and compassion for hotroding. I appreciate it.
FINNIGAN,. Maybe you need to brace up where the front tilt hood mounts to the fiberglass. One day you may have the hood open on a windy day and it might twist it to just crack or snap or weaken where it mounts. OR even the stress of going over 200mph wind pressure on it could cause damage or cracking after multiple passes. Remember you never expected the trunk lid to go sky high. Better safe then sorry.
Watched Tony,s channel, like always as I love you crazy guys together and it looks like you both made good progress. Love to see you guys have another win 👍👍👍. All the best Danny UK 🇬🇧
Looks fantastic! Hoping someday to see this car in person. Remember radius corners are always stronger than sharp corners. Especially in fiberglass. I like to small hole saw the corners of cuts then straight cut for the 90. So it’s not a sharp inside corner prone to tears. Keep on Truckin Mike!
It astonishes me to see you doing metal work in shorts and sneakers. I picked up the habit of steel toe work boots, jeans, and a long sleeve shirt after having weld slag melt through my sneaker and burn my foot badly. Getting the melted materials out of the burn was quite painful. Seeing Freiberger also wearing flip flops makes me crazy. Yeah it's hot to wear the gear, but it beats the shit out of getting burned, including radiation burns.
looks great mike, can not waite to see how it does going down the track. also i love the rubber duck yellow fire bird and can not waite to see how it does going down the track!!
A newspaper box from any paper in the country. Heavy duty plastic or fiberglass, make a plate and open up the bottom and BANG ! original and very cool scoop.
I love how the mini guys do a flip front end. They cut from the top rear part of the inside wheel well to the top rear corner of the hood and hard mount those pieces. Then you don’t have to worry about pulling the bottom corners out so they don't hit the doors.
Hey Mike, I think what we really need is the Finnegan's Garage / Stay Tuned crossover show. You did Tony's show, now we should see you in the Stay Tuned garage with the "new" front end on Tony's '55... Derek from VGG has already done a couple, jus sayin
we've talked about it so many times. Tony has been very generous with his time. i travel so much for Roadkill that once I'm home I try not to leave my family very often. I for sure will be visiting Tony soon, though.
Hey Finn, from a long time follower (since before Roadkill) I'm asking and pleading with you, CONVINCE Tony to put that front end on his 55! That amount of glory would be unparalleled and awesome! Repainted or not, that would be bitchin! I would love to see that transfer of previous glory go onto another 55 like his. Most importantly, good luck to you and Tony during drag week, I've been chomping at the bit for the truest return of blasphemi and the Finn and Tony duo like before!
What about vents in the back. If you're building pressure in the cabin your picking up drag, extra ventilation could be nice to clear out some of the smoke too.
I don't know if you changed this yet, but instead of having to undo fuel lines switching from regular fuel to the race tank, get one of those electronic tank switches they have in trucks with twin tanks instead. I've yet to catch up to your present edition of blas, but I'm catching up.
Looks great and it is the little things you kept putting off. The new drop hooks work well, though with the positioning as it is mainly resting on the lower bar, depending on the glassing it may need some reinforcement up the sides.
Mike, excellent save on the wife's cooking comment. I was cringing as you said it, and apparently, you were, too, but you saved the day and your future meals. Well done!
Came to the comments looking for this one... I'm envisioning a piece of flat-stock running across the top connecting both hinges and sandwiching the fiberglass between the metal.
@bobpayne2391 Not to mention, when having the hood open, a gust of wind might like to twist the hood and fracture a mounting point. Which could lead to a hood loss at over 200mph. They never expected to lose the trunk lid. So it would be, "A better safe than sorry" thing.
Instead of bump stops for the hood you should check out the latching system on a late model long nose Pete. They basically have a box mounted to the fire wall and pin that slides into the box for correct alignment and it keeps the panels from rubbing against each other. Happen to have one sitting in the drive if you don’t know of any.
mike, the hood pins and hinge clips work great, but i'd consider putting a plate in between the bolt heads and the fiberglass on the other side of the hinge clips. i'm thinking stress and time are going to eventually pull them through.
SO glad you are FINALLY working on sorting out all the shit wrong with that car. Next is make a single fuel cell that holds both fuels in separate chambers with separate pumps. That way it is simply changing tunes and moving shut off arms. With your Dominator, all you need is a street and race switch so it knows which fuel pump to use and it MIGHT even use different tunes or different timing and injector offsets so your tune itself stays the same but the injector length and timing advance are changed.
Per NHRA rules it has to have a filter or a scoop to avoid fuel from splashing on to the windshield, it looks better with nothing on it but unfortunately you won't be able to race without something on it.
Hey Mike Grainger has rubber bushings with studs molded on them. They would make nice bump stops. I use then on exhaust fans in HVAC repair to hold covers on.
The hood scoop is a great idea for street driving. Having a filter is also handy. What about angled velocity stacks, out of some 45° ali tubes? Not sure how that would effect blower pressure at speed though.
use a shoulder bolt with a delrin sleeve for your front end pivot point so it doesn't make noise and reduce wearing of the bolt you currently have. just a thought.
Next thing on the weight reduction list is carbon fiber doors and trunk lid then methanol to keep the engine temps down and it’ll easily run 8.50 every pass reliably
It would be a good idea to take some of the material that was cut out or some tube and run a bar up from the hood mount at the bottom to the upper part to keep that thin bit of fibreglass from breaking off . With all the stress from opening and the vibrations of driving it will give up PDQ.
Radius the corners with a drill or hole saw before you cut your hole, and cut INSIDE the lines. Then sure it up after. Remember kids friends don't let friends junk up their parts!
How about blanking off the air intake either side of the radiator? Air going into the front end that does not help cool the engine just adds to drag and lift. Then maybe add a lower extension onto the front clip below 'bumper' level.
That Milwaukee cordless hacksaw could very well be your favorite tool as well...if you don't have one then fix the problem! You will find uses for it which you didn't know existed
35:25 Not gonna lie that Hilborn scoop looks pretty dang good dude regardless of what your competition uses 😆 or the velocity stacks that ramp up in height like you said 😁!

More famous than the 2 Lane Balcktop car? Get over yourself.

Sorry for your loss, I have experienced that also not any fun. It does get better.
Take care.

Bring back the plexi scoop, that was iconic
Dude! That HAS to go on Tony's 55!! What a brilliant idea! So stoked!
Just an observation, with my years of fiberglass work , when you put the rivets through, you should have put small rivet washers on the backside so the rivet doesn't crush into the glass ..cars looking great ..
I think it’s gonna end up getting too much air and come apart
Or even another round plate same as the outside.
@@bradnewman8498 I think that's sensible.
Agreed. In some positions a rivnut with a backing washer would be even better, then you could dissemble the joint.
First thing I thought about watching Joe pop the rivets. Needs washers or another plate.
I would add a small plate to the top of the front hood hinge and sandwich the fiberglass hood between it to help prevent the vibration and force from cracking it.

Looks like Blasphemi is ready to party. Good luck on Drag Week. You and Tony are a blast to watch working together.
I actually really dig the mismatched shades of black. Got a real "I'm not here to look good, I'm here to win" vibe.
Great way to kick off a Sunday morning!!! Thanks for cranking out awesome content week after week!!

If everyone had a friend like Joe, the world would be a better place.

I have that same light, its Hyper Tough from walmart. And I agree, it's really, really useful.

Thanks for the update Mike. Enjoyed Tony’s track test video too! Looking forward to your Drag Week video series. Glad to see a cameo of the new Lexus.
These videos give me motivation to work on my project.
Blasphemi looks sick with the new front end. Good luck with Tony at Drag Week.
Keep the Hilborn scoop, it just looks right. Round scoop-round fenders looked good in the 60s and still looks killer today, a timeless classic.

Hands down easily my favorite car on TH-cam! Cant wait to see it back in action!
You should’ve drilled round holes in each corner first. Not only stronger and helps to keep it from cracking but looks way better
Of the cutout….
I would consider adding top side retaining plate to hinges in case hood wants to lift off while in big end of a run. Hinge tube perhaps also.
