It started off as an independent web show with those two guys and some people from hotrod magazine working the cameras until motor trend bought them out.
As an Englishman, I'm so insanely jealous of the junk yards and speed shops you guys have, cause we've got nothing over here. I'd consider moving just so I could work on V8s and buy an old rusty Impala or something, I'd be in heaven.
I just drove past the CTC Auto Ranch on my way home from Dallas. I was so geeked when I pulled up this episode and yes, it was the one in the episode. My wife had a good chuckle at me being excited as a little kid 😂.

No, they mopar was twice the chevy. As in take what he wanted for the chevy and divide by two, theres the chevy price. CTC's prices are really fair based on what i've seen from their website
Jim Davis That was for the Cuda, and that's a really fair price. Myself, I would have gone for the Pontiac and stuffed a nice 455 in it, stroked and poked with nitros you can make a reasonable, if lumpy, streetable 600, but there's no arguing the stance of that Cuda is killer. Just gorgeous, there's something special about that rear body work that makes a Cuda unique, like that Pininfarina Volo everyone talks about or the XKE or the Spitfire it just has that perfect aspect ratio that strikes the eye a certain way and makes you think " yes that's the way it should be, why can't they all be like this?"
I live in the UK and a 'Cuda like that would be a really special car over here, amazing episode. I'd love to be able to do stuff like that but even if we did have '60's V8's lying around (and we don't) they'd all be rusty.
Well considering how many cars they do have, the Cuda probably would sit for a few years and rot away some more. It was best they give it to someone who wants to restore it and won't be impeded by other projects.
I imagine they had to recoup some of the expenses from the build. They mention many times how they were out of money or couldn't afford something. Then when they auctioned it, once it got past 3000 is when they got super excited, that is prolly the amount they blew the budget from the company by. They shouldn't have sold it, but prolly had to to make the episode possible and prevent a major ass chewin form a boss.

I Like this Show better than any show on regular tv. On this show they do what a lot of People do. Like not throw a lot of money at a car, but make it work with Junk yard parts.
This is still one of my absolute favorite Roadkill projects. The episode is based on a simple, yet interesting premise, and one hell of a great car. I miss this Cuda so much and wish they'd kept it! It had so much potential.
Probably because they like what they are doing now and if they had to go on top gear they would have to follow scripts and lose all spontaneity the show has now.
better yet just make roadkill a show on tv. i mean it gets more views on youtube than a lot of programs on todays tv so if its on tv they might get better funding and hey, if the neetwork restricts what they do or it just doesnt work out they got youtube to come back to. but honestly i prefer the youtube version

Although you may never see this comment, I have a 1974 flaming copper Plymouth Barracuda with a 360hp engine I have been watching your videos for awhile and dream of one day riding beside you thanks for letting me enjoy cars too
Frickin' Finne driving off in the golf cart doing his own version of the Benny Hill theme made me just lose it! This show is simply the purest, most wholesome form of entertainment in existence. Period. When i have a child, we are going to watch this show together, and build the wildest, most ridiculous motorized vehicle ever known to mankind, and we're going to give all the credit to Frei & Finn. Gentlemen, please keep doing what you do! It's this simple: keep inspiring us!
The fact you can legally drive something like this on the road blows my little British mind lmao. No fucking way could you get away with that in Britain.
Poly Bun even so. In Britain the police would be on you like a fly on shit. Even getting caught by many (I mean a shit load) of the traffic cameras in the UK. Driving something like this. Say bye bye to your licence lmao.
Poly Bun Fucking nuts that. Prison is the same here. Most people in prison are better off there, than they are free. It's wrong. Apart from the healthcare of course. The NHS is the best thing about this country. I can't believe America. The most well known and richest country in the world. Doesn't have free healthcare. That's another thing that blows my little British mind lmao.
Honestly, Ive been to CTC Auto Ranch myself since I live in the Dallas area and this place in Denton off 35 is like 45 minutes from me. These guys think that their Rust is Gold. They will die with all those cars sitting there. I wanted to buy a handful of cars off them. But their prices scared me and ran me off. Search all Craigslist and you can find complete cars that need little restoring for just a couple grand more instead of spending twice the amount of restoring these rust buckets. Screw Allen and Screw CTC Auto Ranch.
Hahaha, Yo bird for brains. Have you ever once been to CTC Auto Ranch? All the rusted out pieces of shits that they have laying around. You call that passion? Its their business. They get deals on old rotted out cars all the time. Then they try to flip it for 3 fold the amount. You're dumbass clearly didn't even read my comment at all. Jeez man I think I lost brain cells reading your comment XD
i used to live in Denton for about 12 years. that junkyard is inexplicably overpriced, as witnessed when he wanted $4k for a 67 cuda without the glass. unfuckingbelievable. i had a 71 mustang and they wanted $100 for a front fender that had a gaping rust hole in the top of it. ill never do business with those thieves.
Thank y'all for the awesome laughs and ALOT of tears! I'm a MOPAR gal and it almost kills me to see what y'all do to some of the MOPARS, but....KEEP ON KEEPING ON! Come to Poolville, Texas and make something out of my cars 😎😉
One time I was having a conversation about old cars with my mom, and we started talking about Pintos. I said: "those seem pretty cool, have you ever had one?" Because she's had all kinds of old cool cars. She said: "No, they were not good cars." I was shocked because car guys think they're cool, and they are. I asked why and she said: "They explode." Lol
this was my fav episode of roadkill. I feel like it perfectly represents what the show is about and it was just awesome. I really wish they'd held on to this car though.
I always used to be into pristine exotic European sports cars, Ferraris, lamborghinis, Bugatti, mclaren, etc... I'm not sure what changed but about 5 years ago I started to appreciate classic and muscle cars, I think I finally get it. I used to be all about the tech, I still love that side, but (and sorry for being corny as fuck here) but cars like this just have soul, they tell a story, they make you feel warm and giddy when you hear and see one scream past on the street. I don't know, it's probably better not to even try putting words to it, these cars are just a special experience. The end.
+Wyatt Rowe I know man, it was terrible... I even knew it while I posted... I forgot all about this comment, should I delete it? Or is it so cringeworthy I should leave it... Not sure
Wait, this is my absolute FAVORITE episode of Roadkill and I can't figure out what engine is in this thing? It's obviously a small block because the distributor is in the back of the engine but is it a 318, 340, or a 360? It looks like a 340 but I have no idea and I don't ever recall them ever actually talking about it. Mike Finnegan? Dave Freiburger? Anyone?
+Robert Keeton Description says its a 360. The performance would kinda lend itself to it being a 360 as well, the 318 was never a 'hot' engine and the 340 generally reserved for much higher spec cars. Mind you, google the 'Cheap As Dirt - 415hp 318' build on a 318!
Love this episode! Crazier than Topgear and hosted by real car guys who know their shit and have the mechanical knowledge to get it done. This is the best!

WallaceTexas hey I live about an hour from Denton too! Have you ever been to the kart track down the dirt road? They race karts there with Honda cr125s that go 95 mph.
Although you may never see this comment, I have a 1974 flaming copper Plymouth Barracuda with a 360hp engine I have been watching your videos for awhile and dream of one day riding beside you thanks for letting me enjoy cars too
These guys have The Best Job In The World.
Bullet hole truck.. classic.
A bucket list item for me is pulling a car out of CTC Auto Ranch and getting it back on the road
U guys should do a build with 2 school bus junkyard turbos
I second this motion
i endorse a third time two months later.
Ben Reynolds Or just a hotrodded school bus
I carry this 4th-ish motion 3 years later.
Hi!😎😎😎😑😚
WOW! Seeing CTC sure did bring back memories. My grandfather and I used to just wander around that place on Saturdays.
That barracuda was a gem man, freakin clean still kinda shiny body? Geez
Lutz is such a legend
Great one!! I really love these "Junkyard rescue" videos. Awesome and so genuine! Nothing like all those high-budget fake TV realities.
God, country, Roadkill
People, countries,Roadkill. All gods should be a thing of the past...
mikekoz68 Really dumb.

God, Guns, Country, and Roadkill*
PS: I knew your comment would trigger some atheist kid hahah
JC Image Inc ppp
I can’t believe that auction went so well considering it was spur of the moment
They saved another car from the scrap yard.
Someday that will be a really nice car.
This was another wonderful show.
The fact you can legally drive something like this on the road blows my little British mind lmao.
No fucking way could you get away with that in Britain.
+Mashmarriner69 MURICA
Poly Bun even so. In Britain the police would be on you like a fly on shit.
Even getting caught by many (I mean a shit load) of the traffic cameras in the UK. Driving something like this. Say bye bye to your licence lmao.
Poly Bun I'm sure it's a jail sentence in the UK at worst. They are really clamping down on shit like that.

Someone's butthurt about not being able to buy someone's passion.
Bring back memories. My first new car was a 67 Cuda with the big block 383 and S suspension package. Gold coupe. Loved it.
i used to live in Denton for about 12 years. that junkyard is inexplicably overpriced, as witnessed when he wanted $4k for a 67 cuda without the glass. unfuckingbelievable. i had a 71 mustang and they wanted $100 for a front fender that had a gaping rust hole in the top of it. ill never do business with those thieves.
It lays rubber cause there's "No Car like a Mopar"
True.
car guys dont think pintos are cool lol
gmg921 pintos are sick
My dad had a gremlin that caught on fire as he was driving it down the road
I had a 72 Pinto manual trans. Fun to drive but max speed was....... you guessed it 72 miles per hour. LOL
3150$ one fucking good deal
+cham kampis yeah didnt they buy it for like 3800 without all the tools and spare parts? :D
Jimmy Andersson haha yeah I think so
they sure are bad business men
+cham kampis haha its MotorTrend's money haha not theirs.
they bought it for 3800 then spent over 800 more on it
kcotte59 I live in germany man. Muscle cars are expensive and rare here
You guys are absolutely nuts and I love it! What you all did to the car from time of purchase to running on the racetrack was impressive. Awesome! :D
If I was a car freak tool head, I would definitely be a Mopar man. But I'm a plumber
SUX TO BE YOU MAN,,, LOL
Lol
Shite rolls down hill.
Plumber make alot of money too, if you're certified
"Can I blame China?" -David J. Trumpburger
haha
this was my fav episode of roadkill. I feel like it perfectly represents what the show is about and it was just awesome. I really wish they'd held on to this car though.
Dear Hot Rod Magazine,
Buy this car back and I'll subscribe.
Thanks
Roadkill Fan
I miss the goatee-era Mike
i wish i had a buddy that was this into cars you guys are living the dream working on cars and having fun
I would love to see them build a 67 charge all the way up and make it nice like a show car for them just once!!
The end.
That is corny.
+Wyatt Rowe I know man, it was terrible... I even knew it while I posted... I forgot all about this comment, should I delete it? Or is it so cringeworthy I should leave it... Not sure
Don't worry about it. I was joking. I'm the same way except I've always liked muscle cars.
One of the best Roadkill episodes ever
"Did it sound like we were going to bed together?"
21:52 MINT moment.
Sitting here watching this in Dongying, China. Really want a Cuda now! Love Y'all! Roadkill RULES!
Chloe's Cat Yeah dongying I love dongying!
+Robert Keeton the description says it's a 360 V8!
360------They said it at the end,,,,I think---right before the auction
Still think "what if it went head to head with the og school bus steering wheel general mayhem on dirt fish"
This is my dream car right here, this video made me appreciate cudas more
I have to say, between this and the Crop Duster I could forget General Mayhem......
general mayhem just got badass.
Despite what some people say I think selling it was a good option because it would go to someone who would somewhat care about it.
It ended up right back in the junkyard and has supposedly been crushed. Absolute BS
Love this episode! Crazier than Topgear and hosted by real car guys who know their shit and have the mechanical knowledge to get it done. This is the best!
You guys worked hard on this one
THE ONE CAR I LOVED THE MOST AND THEY GET RID OF IT.
what ever i feel like Sure is a clean car for being in a junkyard
i can t get over how you two roll.... gosh dang favorite show!
is it just me or did they re list some roadkill episodes?
