    Folks…it just doesn’t get much better than this. Such incredible musicality and virtuosity but never feels “shreddy”. I didn’t see any “I am going to shoehorn this lick here cause it’s a TECHNICAL feat”. Everything was in support of the melody and so frickin tasteful. That is not to say this guy doesn’t have technique. Good Lord does he ever. But, it is used to support what he plays, not define it. I am embarrassed at the low-key applause at the end. I would have been screaming like mad in support. This kid is an evolution.

    Everyone needs to calm down. Matteo, Guthrie and the like have achieved the highest level of technique that not everyone can relate to just like many can't relate to the ethereal power of Mississippi Fred McDowell. It's all about personal preference which is pointless to judge and can't be measured objectively. Then there's pop music, that arguably has largest audience based on popularity. Matteo's version of Stevie's "Cause we've ended up as lovers" is beyond words and a brilliant tribute.

    Ever since I first heard Matteo play I have been astounded by his technical and artistic excellence. I started thinking the only thing lacking was the ability to get all those sounds and tones w/o using all those little boxes on the Pedalboard. Jeff Beck seemed to be able to do that better than anyone else I have ever seen. I hope that Matteo moves in that direction. That would be the cherry on top of all the amazing technique, creativity, and musicianship he already has

    • @Ebriel0000000
      @Ebriel0000000 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matteo won't do that because you can't use tone and volume knobs while you play 5 fingers picking which is his "thing". He doesn't renders emotion by digging each note like Jeff did but has his own manner, far from vain shredding but playing fast lyrical sweeps. Just another approach of musicality. When you choose to sculpt each note, you play slow and Jeff was the absolute master of that since the Yardbirds, killing everybody with a single note or just a few. Matteo's creativity and technique are more jazz oriented and "talkative". Sorry for my ugly english :-)
