You can hear Guthrie play at this same age. That’s the age when he wrote a lot of the material from "Erotic Cakes" (early 1990s) and it was released at that time. Guthrie was better compositionally at that age than Mancuso, though Mancuso is technically better. The Guthrie from that age was sloppier and more of a hard rock player. What they seem to have in common is that neither is great compositionally.
One might wonder what might happen if he could hang out with Hellborg for awhile - that could be interesting.
Maybe also with Allan Holdsworth in "Hard hat area"? To me his (Jonas) best solo, together with Allan's one (arriving from the Space). A masterpiece. By both. th-cam.com/video/wIoahfMZRZE/w-d-xo.html
Man what a collaboration! I'm a massive fan Shawn Lane and to see his longtime friend and colleague Jonas Hellborg playing with another one of my favorite guitarists Matteo Mancuso is absolutely insane!
Agreed. He's incredible, but comparing him to others is pointless. You can listen to ANY guitar player and hear hints of many of the greats because the greats are the ones we learned from. Then, if your good, you take their influence and build on it to create your own sound.
@@paulking8329 💯 That also holds for jazz musicians on keys, sax, bass etc Some people compare as a compliment but I would think the musicians would feel more complimented to know that they have their own recognisable style. Of course we can always apply superlatives - as would be appropriate here!

I totally agree. He is a generation leader (to us now) or will become one later. I just want to add that Guthrie Govan, if put in addition to Matteo next to Hellborg, would play as skilled but probably would insert some more unexpected licks, chords, melody lines. But Guthrie has had a couple of more years of playing and experimenting. Matteo will be able to do this with time and experience.
