It's kind of sad that to play the class "correctly" you shouldn't be using the crank gun pretty much at all, but that's the main pulling force for me regarding this career! I do want to just shoot the gun into crowds and into everything pretty much :D Your points are all valid tough, and it's a nice detailed video on the class!
That's only really the case with a Handgun build. LCC Crank is a perfectly adequate special sniping tool (minus Blightstormers in Narnia), which leaves your ranged weapon slot free for stuff like the Trollhammer or whatever you feel like having fun with today. Also one thing the video doesn't mention is that the Crankgun is amazing at opening up shieldbearing enemies' guard. Especially shield toting Marauders just get totally melted. Also, even though the Crank Gun can't do shit to super armour, it's ridiculously good at opening the new shield CWs' shields. Somehow it just does ridiculous amounts of damage to the pavise's shield health.
its just that crank gun shouldnt be used against hordes because the game becomes monotonous for other players. in solo you should be alright doing that
Tip regarding the 1h Hammer: you can also use a Heavy-Light loop for a blend between elite control and damage. The light attack won't penetrate armor, but its stagger (especially with Opportunist) is significantly higher than the Heavies or single-target Lights, letting you stunlock most targets while you beat them senseless.
@@warmgunproduction4545 Good to know! First thing I can tell you in regards to testing: Flaming flail + Opportunist + 10% vs Chaos guarantees staggering a Chaos Warrior out of its overhead with the Heavy 1 (only the one you hit). Opportunist lets you get away with much riskier plays by just cancelling enemy attacks outright, and unlike Swift Slaying is not RNG reliant- so long as your enemy is attacking anyone, Opportunist is active.
Good guide and good explanation about the proper engineer playstyle. However I'm pretty certain that you missed the actual point of "stigma" around Engineer career (Many letters TL;DR in end). I talked with few people in the game, with more people in vermintide's discord and played engineer myself, and that what I can tell: the thing going on around engineer isn't just because of players that don't let teammates regen THP, it's literally almost as you stated: "you don't let them play the game", but not just by deleting hordes - It's by deleting literally everything in the game. Efficient engineer is the most powerful career, as you have easy access to solution to all ingame situations, like: constant bomb regen that working as two bombs types in one and deleting patrols, leaving fire to deal with horde, damaging, stunning and debuffing bosses (with proper trait) + no friendly fire from that; Trollhammer with increased ammo pool to delete heavily armored enemies, grouped patrols and bosses; Melee option that got buffed by capacitors; On top of that the crank gun that deals with specials, have some burst dps against bosses and unarmored elites. All in a one package, a one man army. And easy to use. Mind you: playing as engie is insanely fun, but mostly just for you - that's what people don't like about engies. You deal with everything by yourself on highest difficulties, and nothing really left for other people to beat the living shit from. I don't judge engineer players, and never would, but I kinda understand the thing about one guy that plays the game just by himself in quick cata lobbies. I even heard that people start deliberately avoiding bomb talents to make game more interesting for themselfs and randoms in lobby. TL;DR Engie OP - kills everything everything - nothing left for teammates to kill - sad teammates
He's also pretty good at clutching revives because of no FF firebombs. The only real weaknesses of a Trollhammer-toting Bombgineer are Blightstormers a gazillion miles away, and Trollhammer reload time. It honestly feels like I sometimes want to firebomb just to get space to reload. Which, again, is a choice you can make. The career is absurdly well-rounded and high power. You really feel a difference even when playing other high power careers like Warrior Priest or Bolt BW, though Bolt BW feels like it's nearly there. The only other career that's really given me similar absurd vibes is Necromancer. Beam staff with Lost Souls + Skellie vents is completely moronic, and even just spamming Soulstealer left clicks into hordes with Cursed Blood just deletes them. Reaping and Cursed Blood mean you're also silly in melee. Just play and you almost have to try to not get the green circles.
I just got back into vermintide 2, was looking for outcast engineer builds and found your videos and it got so many info that i do need. Thanks for that!
This is E X A C T L Y the build I've been running the Engineer recently. Saw the video title and thought "Hey, better study up", and I just feel all warm and fuzzy I got it right. Bomb-Torp-Bomb-Crank and bosses are history
I still occasionally use the crank gun to mow down hordes. But I use it specifically when there's separate large groups. Being able to hold back a horde on your own while your team deals with other threats is the best time to hold that button down.
The Stigma around Outcast Engineers isn't because of the Crank Gun, but because the latest rework gave him bs bomb talents that lets him generate unlimited free bombs...which he uses to insta-wipe patrols and monsters from the level, thereby deleting all the most challenging parts of the game solo while his team doesn't have anything else they can do.
Been running quite a similar build running 1h hammer, flamethrower, gromril plated shots and both bomb talents makes him so versatile against anything other than a boss. Gromril shots 1 shot a most specials when close range and has more effective range than the normal crankgun. Fun build, should give it a go
The stigma isnt around the crank gun, its around the infinite bombs that he makes into both types simultaneously THAT is what makes it so the rest of the team doesnt have to do anything
well everyone they sadly nerfed this bomb build with yesterdays update. so now we will have to go back to just using this build for the mini gun only because they also nerfed the trollhammer as well. will have to use the dual hammers for now on to hord clear since the cog hammer isant all that great and then also run pistol with it like before., the bomb build was so much fun to watch here, as i just started playing Outcast Engineer today at level 1. so sadly i didnt get to experience the bomb build. but it was fun watching you play it. so now the new meta is back to just using the mini gun edit: im thinking the trollhammer is still a bit good to have to help get rid of armor mobs and bosses, but will def switch to the dual hammers to clear hoards just because its faster to cleave through them. because even with the cog hammer you still get swing canceled byt the armor mobs, so might as well just be faster to clear trash mobs out faster and then switch to the trollhammer for the bigger guys and bosses. but will going with a full mini gun build, not much point for the dual hammers. all you need is the trollhammer and the mini gun
I bought the game couple of years ago but i never touched it, now i see myself playing it almost daily, and with the new content things are getting interesting, i really want to buy Darktide but idk if it's worth it atm.
If gonna take 2h axe might as well take cog hammer, same effect better hoard management. L1, l2 b. Cancel is a bit faster than cogs heavies for elites but again cog has better hoard management.
Its better to shot if you hug the wall and dont shot in any mate in front of you. The Good Outcast share bombs with team. The pistol in good close not far, the damage will decrese far you are, it will work like a shot gun !
I'll probably catch a lot of flack for this but I do wish you could play harder difficulties without friendly fire damage turned-on. I just want to go in gunz-a-blazin on those harder modes without worrying about damaging my crew. Not saying I hate melee either, love the melee in this game especially after getting my Handmaiden to 30 learning how to block/dodge like a good player should lol.
I really wanna see some in depth class stuff from you more like this but like 40 min on each class and just as much technical stuff pumped into the vid I am in need of some weapon showcases that are up to date and actually show off some decent info about the weapon
Ranged horde clear is just bad for the game, especially infinite ammo horde clear like OG javs or crank gun. It just isn’t fun to play alongside, because even if someone is hard carrying by sniping specials and killing bosses, can still feel like you’re helping but krumping some skaven slaves. Totally support pushing the meta in a different direction.
The greathammer is good, but the great axe is not !?! The Great Axe heavies swing slightly faster than the great hammer. Plus it does MORE damage & Armour Piercing but 1 point less cleave. Its lights are quicker with the same edge. How is the great axe worse, if anything its better or at least the same.
Guys, does anyone know, how to get glowing skins for dlc weapons? I upgraded Big Holy Hammer for WP to red, but did not get the skin. How does it work?
Old post but incase you hadn't found it, you should already have the illusion skins unlocked when you purchase the DLC but what you need to do is apply that Illusion in the Crafting menu, hope this helps 👍
