This mixed with plugin support in the official client is going to make me switch over to OSRS from RS3, which is something I genuinely didn't think y'all could make me do. Helps that the RS3 team have announced nearly nothing for 2024, the current uninteresting storyline is going to last another full year, Vorkath is awful, Necromancy released half-baked and they're not releasing wave 2 of it until they spend over a year using players as a QA department to fix it, they keep pushing MTX further and further, and Mod Shogun switched games. Genuinely an awful time over there. I hope they get their act together after Jagex gets sold, but it'll probably just get worse.
I guess soon is 2-3 months from since the video released. I can’t wait for it. It’s time to see if blue protocol comes out or the hd client for osrs does.

I pray that animation smoothing will be included and perfected. There's so many issues with the plugin, but it's so important to me as the old twitchy animations give me a headache.
They won't add animation smoothing I don't think, that just ruins the animations, they would need to redo the old animations fully. my biggest critisim of the orginal HD in like 08 is that in changed the designs of so many things, THis is want i wanted better graphics & lightings but keeping the over all visuals
One of the things that I hope this team doesn't overlook is that by changing the lighting engine - it may make the game more systematically demanding for either the GPU or cause software issues with Direct X & Windows. Runescape is an old game and it can run on potato computers. That's a good thing. I don't want to be put in a situation where I am going to be forced to upgrade my GPU or operating system because the team have decided to push everything towards this HD version. This has already happened to me once when Path of Exile changed their renderer to Vulkan. They say that if you don't want to enable HD you can toggle it but it sounds like the entire rendering system is changing whether you are using the HD toggle or not, so even if you toggle HD off you will still be affected by these changes. It would be nice to hear a commitment from the team that if your system can currently run Runescape then these changes shouldn't affect it.
It's not mentioned here, but adding night and day cycles would be amazing too.
It should be on a specific world only. Or having the ability to toggle it on and off

You guys might actually succeed in making the official client THE client to use! I hope to see all this rolled out soon, can't wait to see the official Jagex take on OSRS HD
These updates will make it into runelite just like every other update. Runelite still loads the official client, it then injects its self into it and replaces a couple things with hooks that's other developments can use to make plugins
@@__Brandon__ Sorry to burst your bubble, but it actually won't because RL runs off the Java client. This HD mode will be apart of their new c++ client, which is shown in this video. So there's absolutely no way RL can get a hold of these graphics
@@e.selmanii7044 I didn't realize they had a C++ client
@@e.selmanii7044bro it looks worse than runelites 117HD plug in … idk what you are on about
This is cool. Now we just need Animation Pack 1 reimplemented. Anyone remember how the dragon scimitar looked right before EOC changed the model again? Not the version with the three straight spikes, but the one with the tan curved handguard. That would be awesome to have as a toggle to go with this graphical mode, since we're now basically emulating the original RS2HD update from 2008-ish.
Big hype!! Especially with it being customizable and not loosing its nostalgic looks!!
I cant wait for this to come out in 5 years
isn't this what 117 HD already does?
this is for mobile tho
117 looks horrific. It's just regurgitated Unreal 5 engine garbagio.
Brooooo finally. Been using 117hd and I love it. But it lacks the skybox that rs3 has. I don't play rs3 but I find my self logging in sometimes just to look at the night sky. Now just make the game look alive with npcs interacting with each other etc.
Amazing!! I was. Waiting for this for years but,, Would love to see additional toggle options in the future like maybe HD textures
yes for sure a texture remake and also improved animations would be great.
Are you not aware of Runelite? HD and plugin support has been a thing for about 6 years.
I actually want things to look more like they’re from 2004.
Good for you. Autismo
New renderer? Super excited for this.
I guess soon is 2-3 months from since the video released.
I can’t wait for it. It’s time to see if blue protocol comes out or the hd client for osrs does.
they didnt mention it here. but this update comes with a combat overhaul as well.
Uh oh lol
hopefully it just means better animations in combat and also general animation improvements.
I really hope I can still use the HDOS -client, as I prefer those graphics much more
U can for now
@@Free_BMJ Yea... for now...
you will still be able to use 117Scape and HDOS after these updates launch.
When is this suppose to be in the game? Might play again
This is amazing!!! As someone who just a few months ago started fresh on OSRS after quitting RS3 in 2013, I am overjoyed to see how much love this timeless game is STILL getting. You can see the genuine pride on his face during this presentation, he truly loves his work, and he knows the labor of he and his team will bring so much happiness to thousands of players.
Thank you soooooooooo much OSRS team!!!!
I pray that animation smoothing will be included and perfected. There's so many issues with the plugin, but it's so important to me as the old twitchy animations give me a headache.
They won't add animation smoothing I don't think, that just ruins the animations, they would need to redo the old animations fully. But at least new content won't have that problem as since ToA I believe they started using 3Dmax Maya for their animations instead of internal tools, which is why there was a big improvement since.
@@namesii1880 I see... Newer content is definitely better, but I would really like to see some smoothing without having to jump through hoops or have the bugs associated with the plugin.
Thanks for the info friend.
Im so glad i quit RS3 after so many years of disappointments, playing OSRS full time is just magical 🤘🏻
HD is a great progression forward, hopefully the plugin hub gets implemented and we can all use the official client over Runelite going forward!
WOW! Well done! Especially with the optional settings, so many people will be so happy to be able to choose and customize their experience. We all fell in love with RS back in the day at different stages. Now we can all experience them!
This is huge
Rs3 player here, we basically already have all of this, you osrs players are gonna love it if they implement it correctly
we already have most of it on oldschool as well. it just isnt offered by Jagex themselves
RS3 graphics look disgusting, this looks much better than RS3.
I can't wait for Old-school-old-school Runescape
A day and night cycle would be amazing to see. Light from windows and street lamps etc at night time.
Are you planning to release the new UI/TLI on mobile together with the updated HD graphics? It will look amazing!
Not on runelite = dead content
Will the new client include better UI scaling? The current one is way too blurry. Something like the xBR in runelite would be nice.
my biggest critisim of the orginal HD in like 08 is that in changed the designs of so many things, THis is want i wanted better graphics & lightings but keeping the over all visuals
The water is BEAUTIFUL
This is really exciting. What day is it coming out again?
All these bells and whistles, but has anyone else noticed that they aren't upgrading the actual textures at all?
Man i love old school runescape.
It's nice to be able to switch between standard and HD. Well done guys
I really hope a weather system is implemented with this tech
My god. Absolutely love it.
HD is by far the best thing that has happened to OSRS, it should've been the first major priority since the launch almost 11 years ago.
It would be nice to hear a commitment from the team that if your system can currently run Runescape then these changes shouldn't affect it.
they needed to change the game enigne. The old game engine did not run well at all and was barley working.
