The one rand coin (which features a springbok, the second fastest land animal) is 80% Silver, introduced in 1965 to 1976 in silver. From 1977 silver was removed from coinage. Prior to the new decimal design struck in 1965 (which you showcasing in your video), 2&half cent to 50cents were 50% silver, and the rand was gold or paper.

One can tell because you rarely come across a silver rand that are as worn down as the Union coins, even though the silver rand had 10 years of circulation.
The coin u have shown is not Paul Kruger they are Jan van Riebeeck the bird coin is the blue crane the one rand coin is a springbok which is our national rugby team as well

Proofs are any coins struck for collectors, with more a defined strike, technically not meant for circulation. So, since they were struck for collectors, they are proofs.
