So I can't find anything to verify that urban legend/rumor about no one liking TWEWY until it went abroad, so it's probably nothing more than a rumor that circulated among my particularly obsessed niche. But then, there WAS a suspiciously long time between the original and the sequel, which probably only added fuel to the conspiracy theories. (And possibly people wanting to assign nefarious motivations towards Square Enix's focus on Kingdom Hearts rather than just accepting that it's always all about the benjamins, babee.)
