6.98wkg for 39 mins at the end of a 5000 metre elevation stage is insane, finally Bjarne Riis's 6.95wkg for 35 mins on Hautacam in 1996 is beaten, also Riis's time came at the end of a stage that was flat besides the last climb. Amazing from Pog.

You're right, when you have Pogi who gods honest wants to win everything. For chrissakes he was racing in the sprint the other day. But seriously, in most years, the GC teams "take a break" so to speak on some of these days, but this year not so much. The break away is never getting a chance. There are a few stages coming up that Pogi might consider his 3 min lead enough and Visma may want to take a relaxed day to try and regroup.

A general consideration on cycling today: top riders are now able to climb climbs between 8 and 9% gradient at well over 20 km/h; anyone who has ever practiced cycling knows that being in the slipstream of another cyclist going at more than 20 km/h leads to a significant energy saving; the consequence of this is that now only climbs that are consistently 9-10% or more represent a "neutral" battlefield, capable of highlighting pure climbing skills like those of Vingegaard

The year-on-year improvement by everyone (but mostly UAE and pogi) just has to be discussed. How has pogi improved that much compared to the rest of his career? How is vingo at his all-time best despite the injuries?? How is remco in the top 40 all-time and buitrago superior to peak Froome??? I mean Pogi is still very young so him getting better every year shouldnt be suprising. Last year he came back from a injury into the tour and the years before he didnt really had a great team. So him being way stronger then in the past seems very logical. Especially having such a strong team and always having suppurt till like the last few killometers is huge advantage and saves u much engery both physically and mentally.

Jonas is pulling out his best numbers ever. There is nothing wrong with him.
Yes he had a crash but he wouldn't be there and the team wouldn't be killing themselves for him if he was subpar. He's riding better numbers than 2023.
It's just that UAE have used the reverse of what JV have been doing to Tadej, learning how to crack him, Tadej and UAE has learned what cracks him and trained to counter it. He's in recent interviews saying this (he's tweaked his training for the types of stages that normally break him).
He's learned to stay cool, he's fueling better, he's just BETTER than Jonas is.
It also wouldn't suprise me to hear UAE and Tadej used the Giro, especially the way the team rode, as a training excercise for the TdF
People need to accept this and stop dismissing what Tadej is doing, he's immense. They both are to be fair. Jonas in the past has benefited from Tadej having bad days and really putting the hammer down when he has, this year, he's not having any of note

Now, it must be said. We've been hearing for a year that Vingegaard had a better team last year. Now UAE has 3 riders on top 10 and even Soudal has 2 while Visma only has Jonas as of today. Non-GC Kuss is something we miss dearly.

Jonas told after the stage that he did one of his best performance ever, his watt numbers doesnt lie. Will Tadej win the next many Tour de France in Future or will Jonas also improve. Still we have three more stages that can make a difference, but now its hard.

Cycling is much more than the tdf, I find one day races much more exciting than most gran tours.

Joke's on Pogacar. Visma expected to lose 3 minutes on today's stage and be at least 10 minutes down in the general classification. Trust the plan /s

Looks like we're back in 2021 when JV could sort of stay with Pog but couldn't beat him... Wonder if TP is going for treble this year... I think he should... Good luck to all riders stay safe.

His tufts are so crazy he looks like a hedgehog, a clear sign it was a great day for Pog.
