that says more about the intelligence of the army than the strength of Gengetsu
I think the reason hells view is D rank is related to the fact that a seasoned ninja would likely be desensitized to seeing horrible things. Kakashi seeing his personally scariest thing would suck but it likely wouldn't even cause him any real affect in the midst of battle.

For me, Tayuya's Demonic Flute is possibly one of the most terrifying genjutsu ever. I mean, if Tamari hadn't shown up, the konoha genin would have been FINISHED.
Such a powerful genjutsu and its based off of SOUND?!?! Something that's almost unavoidable, is just crazy.
You can say the same thing about any of the sand siblings showing up... If kankuro didn't pull up for kiba... Or you know who would have fucked up the genin plus some... But for plot reasons she tried using genjutsu just in front of Temari, after insulting her, and didn't even tried to dodge the wind blast like she dodged explosive cards from Shikamaru, thus Temari breaks her flute when Tayuya tries to parry A WIND BLAST with it.
Also, with her only weapon broken she didn't even tried to run away
Tayuya’s genjutsu is so underrated.
Kabuto using it took 2 Sharinghan users to break each other out of it, it's properly great!

Omnipotence is a shinjutsu. Momoshiki himself said that Omnipotence wasn't a genjutsu because it can't be undone by stopping or killing the caster, so should it even be on this list?
Everyone knows it's not a Genjutsu.
However: all ninjutsu, genjutsu and 😒 well, not taijutsu are "cheap imitations of shinjustsu".
Which means, a genjutsu and ninjutsu is just a very low level shinjustsu.
So, Omnipotence - although it isn't a Genjutsu, is basically an evolved Genjutsu.
Kind of like how a Sharingan and Rinnegan are just not the same, but... a Rinnegan is an evolved Sharingan.

And regardless, there's not actually a name for "genjutsu-like jutsu" other than "genjutsu". Like, "Black Holy Hammer" is a shinjustsu but it's certainly more ninjutsu than Genjutsu. Just like how Omnipotence is much more genjutsu than ninjutsu.
So, what did you want him to call this video? "Top 10 non-physical jutsu in Naruto" because that's a really weird title...
Also, and I haven't watched Boruto so I can't say much on this, buy looking on Narutopedia. It defines Shinjustsu as "chakra-based techniques of the highest order".
It doesn't actually say that Shinjustsu isn't Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, etc. It does say "unlike Ninjutsu and Senjutsu, it doesn't require hand seals" but this is a redundant statement because... ninjutsu and senjutsu don't "require" hand seals either, hand seals just make doing the jutsu so much easier that 99% of people need to do hand seals to do the jutsu.
The wiki also says "Amado considers Ninjutsu is an attempt of reproducing Shinjutsu" but, firstly "considers" and secondly, this could easily just be another way of saying "Ninjutsu is bad, and Shinjustsu is of a much higher tier" which is perfectly valid statement.
So, again, I haven't watched Boruto but it definitely sounds like Shinjustsu can also be a Ninjutsu, Genjutsu or other.
And if that's the case, then Omnipotence absolutely deserves to be on this list.

I don’t think so just because of the scenes with Sasuke talking to Boruto about how he’s betraying his own memories, the awakening of Sarada’s MS would’ve been enough of a catalyst for Sasuke to do so because only he would know the depth of the situation, to imply Genjutsu in my mind only weakens Sarada’s case because it clearly wouldn’t be in the same league as the Shinjutsu
Actually if you remember the chapter that showed boruto with Sasuke still on the run, Sasuke even says there that his memories are still altered, but he chooses to ignore them. Just like Amado and shikamaru aren't "broken out of" the shinjutsu. They are just smart enough to purely ignore information that doesn't make sense to them and put it all together. Saruda didn't break Sasuke out of Omnipotence. He was just able to look past those false memories because he trusted her. The type of resolve and passion needed to awaken a mangekyo is definitely a good indicator that it was serious and thus to be trusted. On top of being his daughter.

Talk no Jutsu is the most powerful genjutsu, when Naruto casts this genjutsu his enemies are forced to rethink/relive their previous actions, along with the power to bring back repressed memories from the victim. It would be similar to frog-song since it is vocal, but it has the power to manifest the past to be replayed for the victim of the genjutsu to watch. It is most effective when the user is enraged at the victim of the genjutsu, like how he was towards Obito for wearing the mask and for killing the background characters and Neiji. It also can be undone by killing the user (case dependent), since if Naruto died just after casting it, it would be unlikely for Obito to change and it would have just embolded him. But if it was to be at the end of the war after Obito switched teams, he would likely still have lingering effects. So it meets the qualifications to be a genjutsu, and probably a shinjutsu if Naruto when respawning is able to clear up Boruto's situation.

The fact of Itachi putting his gf into a genjutsu that gave her 60 years of happiness that then kills her after she realizes it was all fake still puts him up as one of the most evil villains to me.

I am pretty sure that Shisui's Kotoamatsukami (with the decades long recharge), is considered so powerful because no one is immune/resistant to it.
This includes Edo Tensei and any Perfect Jinchuriki. The reason they are said to be immune, is because the Tailed Beast can disrupt the Chakra flow to their host, and free them. This would explain why genjutsu don't work on Edo Tensei, because the caster of the Jutsu is able to disrupt their Chakra flow in a similar way.
We see Kotoamatsukami works on Itachi despite being an Edo Tensei, and the 5th Mizukage concluded that Kotoamatsukami was used to control the 4th Mizukage who was a Perfect Jinchuriki.
Since we know it was Madara who was controlling Mizukage, that would indicate that he somehow had his own Kotoamatsukami (or it's just his MS ability and was on it's decades cooldown despite being revived, and perhaps his other was Tsukuyomi which is why he planned on the Infinite Tsukuyomi).
This also means that he probably used Tsukuyomi on that 1 random shinobi who made eye contact with him, when he massacred the Shinobi Alliance.

Idk, I think it got left behind because it can just be an auto win if it hits without any interaction between the characters. They generally incapacitate an enemy without an actual confrontation which doesn't fit into the Shonen formula.
It's like, if they beat the big bad by poisoning their dinner or a landmine.
I think my personal reason for not caring about genjutsu all too much is that it feels to me like it fell into a similar pitfall as Substitution jutsu. - Specifically with how "Release" is known and done by even simple genins since very early in the series.
And the same way you'd ask "Why didn't X or Y use substitution to survive that?" it also makes me ask "Why wouldn't X or Y just tap that person and wake them up?"
Feels like every genjutsu would need to be explained as to why it's on such a greater power field to where "Release" would have no effect on it, or otherwise it'd only be usable on someone who was isolated from any possible allies who might release them. - And even then, why expend your limited use of a Sharingan eye if a genin could just sneeze and dispel the effect?
And then from an in-universe standpoint, how long would someone need to train in techniques that are so easily countered until they'd get to a point where they can spin a genjutsu good enough to resist the "Release" jutsu?
I also get it why they're not making it as center stage from a cinematic standpoint, outside of getting fancy about showing what the illusion is in the victim's mind, genjutsu fights would, from the outside, just be "X does signs and Y stops moving" which wouldn't have the same kind of weight or tension as a more dramatic fist fight or ninja spell duel.

Omnipotence should not be on here because it's not a genjutsu it's a reality warping ability that was used in a way to warp people's perception and memories which makes it feel similar to a genjutsu but has nothing in common with how it functions
I just had a thought about Danzo having Kotoamatsukami, he had it for years working in the shadows of the leaf, so he used it alot, and might be why Hiruzen didn't take care of Naruto as a kid and why he wasnt that great with descions, with his mind being altered every week or so by Danzo, same with the Konoha Elders.

anyone else ever wondered how izanagi would interact with the reaper death seal? Because if you could just overwrite your soul being taken by the reaper (especially with implanted sharingan like danzo had, so you wouldnt even lose your own eyesight) that would be beyond broken.

Genjutsu seems like it has filled a niche of being overpowered vs normal ninja, some higher ranked ones, but overall once a certain power scaling has been reached genjustsu falls off. Think of it like how in one piece just getting a logia type fruit makes you highly dangerous against anyone who does not have haki. But if you are fighting nothing but a bunch of haki users you would seem weak.
Omnipotence isn't genjutsu it's Shinjutsu or omni-poe-tents as Nick says it😂

I mean his Èdō Tènséī PROBABLY Should've done stuff like this to Kábūtō... but then maybe Sásūké would ACTUALLY Use Tsūkūyômí which I BELIEVE He Doesnt Use SPECIFICALLY Because of Distaste towards the ability from all the... well Comas, etc. and Torment... and Potential to Encourage Growing in unpredictable ways when feeling THAT Overwhelmed... THOUGH he has EMS So is MAYBE the Only Person who COULD Safely Spam the Ability.... so then it feels DUMB that he DIDNT See if he couldn't use it on NUMEROUS Folks like Clawgrimes... but maybe he's not a calm enough man to handle using such a complex and Taxing ability since HE Never Used 60 Years of Experience to give a REASONABLY DECENT Life to the Woman He Loves before killing her.... he Just made her believe he killed her or whatever... which... I mean at least he didnt ACTUALLY Do it... Only moments like that make me feel bad for Sákūrâ cause its so overkill... could've just said "we're gonna go spar and have a chat PRIVATELY..." then make her fall asleep... which... why am I defending Sákúrâ!?

If NinjaStorm4 had added the longrand special move thing then Almost NO ONE would play the new game.... but it REALLY needs MASSIVE Additions to Feel worthy of the price... maybe they add a GameMode equivalent to earlier games for 15 dollar dlc or something? Just so they Still get money despite Probably needing to have done this for Free as the main thing for the game... and its weird even the Bôrūtō gamemode is BASICALLY a HalfDecent FillerArc Movie... but if it were an Actual movie it'd not be very good and people would resent the characters...

It's a fair point that Itachi SHOULD be Yuta tier plus some Extra Invincibility shenanigans with Yátâ Mirror and the Tôtsūkâ Blade, etc.
But with this one Gènjūtsū He COULD Replicate ALL Jūjūtsū usage perfectly and that people have been subject to others' use of it on them whenever he feels like it...
MIGHT Solo Sukuna by just making Eye Contact or something...
What do you think? Should he be Capable of doing this with control over his and the targets' minds if he KNOWS the Theory of Jujutsu or can replicate the imagery and experience from the fears of any characters from JJK he Sees and then Reads Mind and makes forget that their mind's been read... SHOULD He Be Capable of making people AT LEAST Believe they've been hit with the most broken as hell JJK Abilities if he know enough about what the theoretical experience and general appearances of the right people should be?
His ability basically solos the Entire JJK... Imagine he just pulls the Crow out on Kènjàkū and thusly makes him Heal and Release Gètō... and Both are also hit with additional Tsūkūïômí.... Feels like Game Over for the FULL Story potentially Even if its Dying ītáchí... : D
