I bought a 50$ plow off market place and just finished minting it on my Honda recon 250 2wd. Super excited to try it. I need to mount a extra battery like you did. I have shitty tires but I just ordered trig tire chains for it
I have also found since that just using the led light bar instead of using the halogen headlights lets the little recrifier keep up, so the second batt may not be needed.
Nice job, just shows going against the grain of what people say isn't always bad. What do you think about a 2WD pulling a ATV trailer loaded with firewood? All the 4x4s I am finding have been used and abused but see some nice 2WD out there but wondering even with good tires if it will pull heavy firewood out of the woods, no mud to deal with, just hills.
It really all depends on where you live. If its really hilly, a 2WD may struggle, but if it's not, a 2WD may be fine. Also if pulling in deep snow or clay mud a 2wd may struggle. With those foot wide bear claws on the back of my Ozark, I have never got stuck trail riding in Michigan with others with big 4x4s. In Tennessee, there were some uphill creekbed trails I couldn't do that the 4x4 guys could...though they struggled too. Other thing is, these are really light, so when they do get stuck, a small wimch or some muscle will get them out easier.
@@billmonroe7328 Thank you for the info. I found a old 2000 model Honda Rancher 350 4x4 earlier this week and got it, over all its in pretty good shape, it does need some work but I will work through that stuff and hopefully be pulling firewood out of the woods soon.
I’m gonna need to know that reverse bypass trick.. and what plow did you use for that mount, or are they all pretty much universal? My ozark is bored in the garage, this looks like a good way to keep her busy.
Follow the override cable down on top trans area. Where it pulls on a lever I just bent a hook on both ends of about a six inch piece of coat hanger to keep it permanently overriding. The plow was a marketplace find. Not sure what it was made to fit.
So I have a truck battery to mount on mine like you, why can’t I hardwire it straight to the little quad battery, or do I need to do what you did with the capacitor
You can try it with quad battery first. My quad has a tiny charging system so it drains the little quad battery faster than it can charge when running winch and lights, but yours may be stronger. Also, the atv battery lasts longer if I only use the led lights and not the halogen regular lights.
This is the winch I have. I think 3x the weight of your rig is rule of thumb. This 2000 lb winch is probably overkill for an Ozark, but if I ever upgrade to the Kingquad 400 Fsi then I should still be covered. I did opt for the synthetic rope to save from jamming stray wires into my hands when using it. www.warn.com/vantage-2000-synthetic-winch-89021
I also used warn winch mount PN 69061. Not sure if others fit or not. Wouldnt be too hard to fab one. It comes with a generic flat one. Youd need to weld on some ears to go down to the ozark mounting holes.

Interested to know how it does.

Your stator alternator has plenty of voltage but you can use that too the stator has a lot like thirty volts coming out
That was fun video
yo bill, kudos!

Also wont be issue if you plow in day without lights. My problem is 80% of time I have to plow at night due to work.
how big is that winch I want to get one for my but I don't know what one to get
