To show the retrofit will be a great video Aaron. Also, if you could open one up and explain what goes on inside there and how the accumulated oil returns to the crankcase.
It looks like my 2016 has the third newer style ccv (like a 2019 has). I wonder what is in the newest box (hint, hint, cut one open). I also wonder if it could be used on my 2016.
I don't how many of the truck mechanics have ever torn much motorcycle and ATV engines apart, but they have a so much better solution to crank case vents that I've just never seen in the automotive world. Canam uses like 4way t style fitting on the inside of the engine geared to the crank, it spins flinging all the oil out of the crank case vent. Suzuki I've seen used a box separator like you buy aftermarket for some trucks, except it has a permanent drain line going back into the case so you don't have to drain it. A few other Japanese engines just use complex series of baffles cast into the case so oil doesn't get into the vent lines.

I hate oil leaks so I decided to change it at 60k anyway and Ford sold me the new small one like you are showing here. Now I have slightly noticeable back pressure. What’s your thoughts? I pulled the old one apart and it had some carbon in it.
I literally did the same thing and have the same issue, I had the old style with no pressure, replaced it with the smaller new style and now have some noticeable pressure, did you figure anything out with that?
I could see the sensor being used on the High Output 6.7 coming in 2023. They would want to make sure that motor is in top shape whereas the regular 6.7 hasn’t needed one
I bought a replacement filter for my 19, and just did the oil change where I was going to replace the filter (44,000 miles) and come to find out, mine appears to be non-servicable. there are no screws on the top to take the cover off!! So is it safe to assume that I don't need to worry about servicing this? Or should the whole canister be replaced at some point?

@ so what are we recommending a catch Can? Will it void my warranty removing this part or get a new one is the oil going in turbo fine lol need some answers ARod🤘🏻
Crazy to to think when I switched to wrenching on semi trucks I thought to my self why ford never put in replaceable ccv filters, damn near every semi has one and part of regular maintenance. Didn’t think my dream would come true and become such an issue. It’s ok though made a bunch of money swapping them out when I went back to wrenching on fords 😂

These things are an often ignored part, but so important to keep up with as they do wear out. So many diesels with start up smoke are actually suffering from a bad air oil separator/CCV
Update, My Late 2022 F450 has the new lower profile boltless CCV box. These videos really open my eyes to the subtle differences between my Coworkers 2019 350 Dually and My Late 22 450.
So there's 4 different ones now? I had prior heard about the one with top bolts, supposed to be serviceable and the tampons inside for steel bodies. But my 16 had the revised non-service sealed top one. Which I am unclear if they need changing or are a lifetime unit with no issues. Hmm. Now we see a new version bolt top and an even newer version sealed top.
Only ones that had a replaceable filter was 17- 18. The steel body trucks didn't have filters in them. These new ones are much cheaper as well. Dealer cost on this are $49 compared to the other ones are over $100.
I agree. I believe ARod has said the filtered bolt top was first, then replaced with a new version thats non serviceable sealed top (which is what my 2015 has in it.) Then the newer trucks came with a newer filterless bolt top, and now those are replaced with the small one in this video. So i just saw another video from another flrd mechanic saying to change your ccv bc they get plugged. He shows it very swollen and its the same one i have in my truck which is filterless, so my question is how did that one get plugged up if it doesnt have a filter. And do i need to change mine to a newer version or is it a "lifetime" oil separator?

The ccp sensor may be equipped on the high output 6.7 option in the 2023s, as a protection measure to derate the truck. Could also be used in the iOLM strategy to corroborate calculated engine load. As far as the one-time use hoses, it may be an emissions tampering deterrent or to ensure proper sealing ford one of the strategies. One concern with not replacing the tube if flagged as one-time use, if one needed to SPW a repair (of a cp or wty repair) and it was not replaced, there is the potential for a claim rejection - never seen it, but is allegedly possible.
I'm running 100cc of two cycle for every 16 quarts of diesel fuel as diesel today has zero lubrication this is my own preference not suggested that anyone else do this. But along with other regular diesel fuel conditioners, my 6.4 seems quieter and runs smoother. I also lowered my low-boost fuel from the number 3 position to the # 2 position on the tuner. This has improved the black smoke on start-ups and in stop-and-go traffic. Just something I am toying with I'm not responsible for any damages if you follow this procedure. Just saying a little more lube in the upper cylinder and going through the high-pressure fuel pump shouldn't harm anything. Should it 🤔

@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod better than the previous ccv versions. As in not plugging up, or having to service as much, or not allowing oil into the intake system...
Can I ask something off topic I live in Canada and I have a 2022f350 and I'm going down south for 3 months is there and think I should do before I head out it will be out side for 3months thanks for your time
The early 6.7's did not have a serviceable unit. They had an oil seperator. My truck has 132k miles and have never had a problem. Always enjoy and learn. Merry Christmas.
Dumb question. I have a 2012 with the non serviceable box. I have no blow by at the moment. Are these non serviceable ones ok to let alone or are they needed changed?
I wonder if this new smaller CCV box is better or worse than the previous non serviceable one….. I wonder if this better circulates the crankcase pressure or if it makes it worse.
Is it true only the 2017-2018 trucks even had a filter ccv at all? That once the tsb was issued for replacement the new trucks had already been going out with the filterless ccv?

Now how does crankcase pressure vent? Yes I would believe that crank case presure would be off the charts. Blowing seals and gaskits all over the place oil leaking every wear 😂😂😂 some times there is no improveing the wheel you have to leave it alone and call it a wheel.😮🙄🤔😳
For simplicity. Lets call this fords catch can. After years of being imbarest by running the engine internal sewage back through the filtered cold air intake and into the combustion chamber. Turning your engine into a sewage treatment incinerator lowering the quality of the air fuel ratio efecting the HP, the MPG and over all engine performance while lowering the longevity of the engine. I say better but the sewage is still going back into the crankcase lowering the quality of the oil contaminating baring serfices, seals and gaskits also increasing crank case pressure putting undue forces on seals and gaskets. This isn't rocket science. This simply needs more serfice area like stainless steel wool and a couple of inline colection reservoirs. That can be easly removed and cleaned at regular servicing schedules
So I bought my 2013 f250 used from a ford dealer. was never told this was a serviceable part that if not changed you will have a $5000.00 repair for a 12 dollar gasket!!!!!! FU Ford! I will never put a CCV box back in my truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2019 (do not know much about diesels), could that blocked sensor port be for backward compatibility? My truck has 74k miles on it. How often should I replace the CCV element? I've have yet to replace it.
Backward compatibility. No, this is the brand new one. If you have a filter in yours, it needs to be replaced. Often watch my other ccv videos
We need options for 2017s. I don’t want to have to worry about this crap especially in the coming year and parts becoming more and more scarce !
This box will fit 11-current MY
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod that was going to be my question, TY
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod has this new ccv box been used on a 17 and confirmed no issues?
There isnt any issues to be had
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thanks brother!
Did you ever do a video on the 2013 CCV hose connector removal? Installing a SPE on my 23 250
Yea a while ago
I’ll be ordering it for sure to try it out.
Is there any more info on whether this newer version is better?
.....better as far as what
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod better than the previous ccv versions. As in not plugging up, or having to service as much, or not allowing oil into the intake system...
@dawveed26 they all allow oil into the intake system. And only the duallys had ones with filters that were known to stop up
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod so the best option is to install a remote ccv can kit and eliminate the box all together?
@dawveed26 if that's what you deem suitable for your needs
Can I ask something off topic I live in Canada and I have a 2022f350 and I'm going down south for 3 months is there and think I should do before I head out it will be out side for 3months thanks for your time
Nope!!!
Just make sure it’s parked with a full tank of fuel to avoid moisture
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thank u keep the videos going I appreciate all your info this is the first time having a diesel truck
The early 6.7's did not have a serviceable unit. They had an oil seperator. My truck has 132k miles and have never had a problem. Always enjoy and learn. Merry Christmas.
U too pal
Dumb question. I have a 2012 with the non serviceable box. I have no blow by at the moment. Are these non serviceable ones ok to let alone or are they needed changed?
@@Jason1Pa They are an oil seperator and are not serviceable.
@@johnmac4769 Yes I understand they are unserviceable, but can they still get clogged and need replaced?
Theres no filter, no change
I wonder if this new smaller CCV box is better or worse than the previous non serviceable one….. I wonder if this better circulates the crankcase pressure or if it makes it worse.
Better
Not sure I’m convinced. Just simply blowing through both (I finally tracked down a new one), the new one seems to have more flow resistance….
Could anybody explain how Ford's CCV works on the diesel system
Ford coffee table book does (can be downloaded and found with a Google search). But it's no different than any other CCV in a gas or diesel vehicle.
Watxh our CCV videos
@@CPsGarage is there a coffee table book for the 22?
@@davecarroll4086 20-22 would be the same book. 23 will be the end one as there are major changes
Trying to take off my CCV on my 23. You ever do a vid on how to remove the new style CCV?
U have a 23 already
will this fit on my 2015 6.7?
Yes
I wonder what's different on the inside 🤔
Probably pretty much same as the other oil separator but no filtration.
Yes i want to see the video. Please please
Like to see a cut-away view of internal comparisons
Is it true only the 2017-2018 trucks even had a filter ccv at all? That once the tsb was issued for replacement the new trucks had already been going out with the filterless ccv?
True
My november 22 build has the new version in it.
Have you done anything on the Sync 3 update? Before I do it I want to know what I’m agreeing to!
As far as what, have done many sunc 3 updates
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod if I perform the update on my 2021 am I granting more access to my overlords? Is it buggy? Is it a good upgrade worth doing?
Simple. No access. Juss like new firm ware
Is the latest model any better than what came with the 2011?
Most def!
Maybe difference is for the HO motor? Not sure why it would be different or need a sensor.
OBD2 requirements
work on a 2017 6.7L?
I want to know this too. Should we replace the ccv on our 2017’s with this new box? Is it a better option than using something like the spe bypass?
As far as i know it will fit all 6.7s....the ones with the sensor ud have to get 17M04 performed first, then you could.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Found my answer finally lol. But what's the better option for a pre 2016 - the newer ones, or the old school ones without the filter? Seems like the newer ones (pre 2023) are getting replaced a lot...
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Ok so I read 17M04, will the software update IDS R111.02 or higher eliminate that sensor? Would I not need that collar they mention to attach a newer style box? If that's the case I'll just get the 2023 box w no worries. Really need to do mine before it's too late! Thank you Aaron!
U bett
The point of the CCV box is??? Bypass and a hose pointed to the ground. Simple and trouble free
Depends on where you live..... Technically it's a emissions device and would be against the law to remove it.
Will that late 22 ccv box fit a 16?
Yes as long as u have no sensor on ur 16
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thanks man, I’ll check
Does this fit on 2012 6.7?
It will, but your truck has a sensor and an electrical connector that goes to your box
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thanks for your response! So do you just recommend i use original then? Or do you just recommend it get ccv re-route kit
@cruz1118 original
🤔🤔🤔🤔 the wheels in my head are turning.
Could this be used on a 2017 F350 DRW?
Yes
Let’s open it up and see inside!
Mine is a late 19 f250. It came with non serviceable box. Should they still be replaced every 50k?
No bolts, no filter
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod no filter no worry?
PLEASE DO A VIDEO --- IM READY
Aye yo BoB!!
Will this work on a 2019 f250 6.7?
No sir it will not work.
Would that fit a 2019?
No winches can't go on seventeens. Eighteens or nineteens, you have a trans cooler that will not allow it to work
Installed this on my 2017 f250. I had no blow by before minimal vapor. My vapor has increased and I have slight pressure. Has anyone experienced this?
Never heard of that happening
I would buy this over another companys reroute kit lol.
That particular box is designed to be filed in the trash can haha!
Awsome 👍
This has got to be the most controversial subject when it comes to 6.7 SD's.
My 2015 6.7 doesn't have filters in the ccv box. No bolts....172,000 miles.
I know I'm going to order a CCV re route kit
