    Those are the exact brakes I put on my 2012 superduty. I'm convinced they're the best especially for the price. 2 years and about 60k miles and hardly any wear. I don't tow or haul much but the heavy duty pad and rotor set from brake motive off ebay lasted me a year. Switched all 4 to powerstop - they only make one grade drilled and slotted rotor but you can get them in a set with 2 different grades of pads - definitely recommend the extreme pads to go with them.

    I use either Wagner or Powerstop brakes. The last two brake jobs I did, the wheels were "welded" to the hubs. I had to heat the wheel centers to get the wheels off. I always thoroughly clean the hub surface and wheel centers. I apply anti-seize or "Lisa Frank Glitter Paste" as I now call it to both the wheel centers and hub surfaces. Here in Southern New England if the weatherman just hints that there may be the slightest chance of snow, the DOI (Department of Idiots) brines the roads. I like to put a sparing coat of brake grease on the caliper bracket and then install the anti rattle clips. All metal to metal contact surfaces get a sparing coat.

All went well after that but I will definitely be upgrading to the powerstop the next time I need brakes. Nice video. Thanks.

    I had stock pads and rotors for 80,000 miles on my Hemi Jeep GC, I put the Z26 kit on and they lasted only 30,000 miles! Zero brake dust which was awesome, but the longevity sucked and the pads actually wore the rotor! I’ve never seen a pad wear a rotor! I’ve been doing my own brakes since HS back in 1990, so I’ve done a couple! Still miss when Wagner was warranted for life!!

    Great job, but i would never put grease on the tabs at each end of the pads because grit and dust will stick to the grease and could cause a problem. Thats why those inserts are so shiny slick, they dont need any lube and dust and grit wont stick to them. The brake job was most excellent.

    While you had the rear drums off, I would have put anti seize on the hand brake adjuster. If you are in the rustbelt area the wheel adjuster will seize up and that could make it a nightmare trying to pull off your rotor if you have to loosen the adjuster to get it off.

    Z36 pads is what I went with on my Silverado. I only had 40k on it and the factory pads still had plenty of life but I did a pad slap with the Z36s. The factory pads when they got hot would shudder horrendously. I went down a 10% grade with 1k in the bed and while I didnt find a lot of fade the steering wheel juddered an unbelievable amount. When they cooled, no problem, even after that, but I still ordered the Z36 that evening. No such problem with them and yes the wheels are clean too.

    I drive a truck im okay with dust. I use my truck as a truck. Towing with ceramics suck they dont dissipate heat quickly and will lead to quicker fade or warping. I run bendix fleet metallic on most my rigs. They're the same as the BRSD super duty pads. On my f150 I did a full EBC brake kit with yellow stuff pads. You wanna talk about dusty theyre a heavy metallic pad designed for towing and the occasional track day. No complaints out of my eco boost with some minor mods.
    Besides rotors i have not liked power stop products. I do find there price is generally pretty good on slotted and Drilled rotors but their pads have not impressed me one bit. Again i bought a truck for truck things even my M3 has extremely dusty brakes due to its heavy metallic compound. Towing and performance im totally fine with dust. • @TheMrsattman
    @TheMrsattman 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Those are the exaxt pads I use for my F2 fiddys and 2500 Durtymax's, BUT I only use the factory rotors. Absolutely no aftermarket rotors. Why? Aftermarket rotors are not made with the same quality of steel as GM or Ford rotors. Aftermarket rotors wear more and are more prone to warping (pad imprinting/deposits). OEM rotors can be turned many times for future brake jobs, aftermarket rotors maybe twice. Most places won't turn the drilled & slotted ones. And some of these type can't be turned at all without being destroyed. The Powerstop Extreme pads seem to work better with factory rotors IF they are broke in properly. They are carbon fiber and ceramic. Follow the break-in process as printed on the box and they will stop better and last longer than most pads out there. Most people don't know this but most rotors aren't warping when you experience a pulsating brake pedal. It's from unequal deposits of brake pad material on the rotors and from pad imprinting from a stopped vehicle with extremely hot brake rotors. This happens when the initial break-in procedure isn't done and from softer metals in aftermarket rotors. Sorry about the long explanation. I know way more about brakes than I should. Not much fun at parties!

    on my older trucks id just get a big ass order from Detroit Axle but it seems getting rotors and other parts for my 17 and 19 isnt as plentiful as older models. gonna upgrade to these rotors and brakes very soon because the stock rotors and brakes absolutely cake my front wheels

    I’m a little late to the party with this video, but this is a great presentation of a high class brake job. Those rotors are awesome with the vent slots and holes. I bought my ‘12 F350 brand new and it just hit 100k and still have the original front and rear brakes. They are just under half pads on the front and about 3/4 on the back. Never had a dusting problem but definitely have the rust problem because I live in Pennsylvania. I’m wondering if they changed the pad material over the years because my friends with newer super duty’s complain about the dust all the time.

    Awesome video btw. Noticed you didn't put the wear sensor clip on? Maybe they don't even include it with their hardware I don't remember - was only looking cause I remember one set I put on we couldn't figure out how to mount it lol.

    My 2017 superduty was a nightmare front pistons blew and rear caliper slide pins were seized so full caliper and rotor and pad change all the way around

    OEM on my '17 F-350 DRW. Watching the video this is a job I can do myself (I've done brakes on my Goldwing and RV, but not the truck). FYI the link to your store in the description opened a page that listed archoil ar6500 diesel treatment? I'm interested in the type of pads used to clean up the bracket (the green and brown things).

    The brake arrives on the F450 so you can check the bearings and oil at the same time. Nothing more to do in transport, it's great.😂

    I'm less worried about dust then I am for stopping power since I tow/haul. If it is dustless but stops worse, it's useless.

    Ford pads have dust but they last and don't overheat rotors and warp them like after market my shop had fleet of f250 350

    Great video. Those rotors and pads are on the list for my new to me 2020 F350. Just wondering about torque specs for all those bolts? Or is snugging them down good enough?
