As a struggling psych undergrad looking to get into a masters program, it's reaffirming to hear stories that aren't just point A to point B. I hope your channel blows up soon. Thanks for sharing dude.
Congratulations!! Well done on not giving up, on dedicating love and decision to your passions no matter the odds, on staying humble and always eager to learn.. and on paying respect to those who succeeded first and are worth the recognitions... Step by step you surely are finding your spot among them and from one person who is a complete stranger .. thank you for this video today!!! Best of luck on your new job and in pursuing all of your dreams!
Would love to see a day in the life working as a behavioral scientist. Even if it’s a day spent at the computer, I’d like to get that visual of what my life would be like if I continued on this journey. :) happy for your job!
High School grades are the worst culprit for self-esteem. Once you find your passion in life, you will succeed. I remember this kid who was miserable in high school (well let's be honest some of that stuff is pretty boring, let's make school fun and you will learn more\better), so anyways, this kid ended up going into university, falling in love with it and passing successfully his degree and now has a successful career. Voila, it's all about passion. Kudos to you for finding your passion and now you are inspiring others.
I recently discovered behavioural economics, and I'm a psychology major , and I also love economics so much and a blend between economics and psychology field couldn't be any perfect, thanks for your story much appreciated🇿🇦 we pretty much share alot in common bro thanks
What a story! I am so happy for you when I watch this video Pete, and I can definitely feel how excited you are, or, you were!! My first step into behaviour economics was the ‘predictably irrational’ (a gift from my A-level economics teacher who was my personal tutor), but “unfortunately” I ended up into UCL Econ lol and just found lots of quants and maths derivations : ) Luckily I got the chance to know BES at the end and therefore I found you and this channel and all other people! Just want to say a big thank you to you for creating PetesBITs, keep up the good work!! All the best for the new role!
Thanks Ada! What a nice message, I really appreciate it! I’ve heard some of my Econ friends say the same about all the quant suppressing their passion for the subject. This is why I see my path down psychology a lucky accident, because had I done economics as originally intended, I may have lost my way. I’m glad my videos help you, and I wish you all the best in your journey also 🙏
Your youtube channel and Warwick's BIT was my introduction to Behavioral Economics!! Congratulations on the job and looking forward to seeing more insights! Great stuff!
I am inspired by this. Your videos are ultra professional and I, as a behavioral economist buried in Federal IT and cyber right now 😢, am interviewing for a real behavioral scientist position finally - tomorrow! Wish me luck :)
your story gives me so much hope! the parallels we have is insane. I cried doing math in my last years of school, which i did as the college I wanted to get into needed compulsory maths. Its last year when I stumbled upon BE and since then life feels so much more complete, it was like finding the missing piece. I hope to pursue my masters in the subject, your content is really so helpful for someone aspiring to go in the same field as you.
Congratulations on your journey, and thanks for sharing it. As someone who's also getting close to Behavioral Economics, it was super interesting to listen to and I related a lot. Wish you the best of luck!
Congratulations!! Thank you for sharing your story and talking about your setbacks. That's super brave and inspiring. Really motivates me to continue my pursuits. Good luck on your next journey and looking forward to more insights from you!
Kudos to you, Pete. You still got into Warwick University into a totally legit way, and you're doing great things for people with this TH-cam channel. Congrats on landing your role at Ogilvy. I'm excited for you.
Great job, Pete! Have fun at Ogilvy and the world of ad agencies / behavior change in London. Sure our paths will cross as it's a small world of practitioners in the city :) Good luck!
So happy for you, congratulations! This is really inspiring for someone who also wants to pursue this field so thank you so much for sharing. Hope you all the best in this new journey! P.s: thank you for doing this channel
It was tough at times. I had to go to therapy on occasion to work through some stuff. The biggest help for me was having a regular and challenging exercise routine. For me, the gym is my meditation, and it always seems to recenter me when I feel like I’m dropping off again. I think everyone should have an exercise habit for both physical and mental wellbeing.
Hi Pete, I have been looking to apply for a behaviour science postgraduate course in the US/UK and would love to have a chat with you. Really glad to come across your channel as there are very less videos on these topics and talking about such degrees. Please let me know if we can get in touch, would be really grateful. Thanks
Great story mate! A different video but inspiring and insightful as always. Cheering! Curious though. I vaguely recall you mentioning being involved with Wendy Wood and was wondering how that fit in your journey?
Wendy got in contact with me after I started the channel and she has certainly been a huge influence on my approach to behavioral science and of course my specialty in habit science. A story for another time perhaps!
I want to pursue masters in data science but seats were full instead they suggested me Behavioural economics and data science is it good i am really confused to choose it or not
I would definitely take it. Such a good degree and gives you more of an edge in the market as you’ll have behavioral science training as well as data science training
Hi Pete. A great video and congratulations! I too love Behavioural Economics, but there's a communication problem between older and younger people. It's due to younger people "living fast" on social media, and I'm afraid that your speech is bordering on being too quick. For a brief period, one of my lecturers at college was the Oscar winning film director, Mike Leigh, who always told everyone to "speak slowly" to make their point. Rory, a former teacher, knows this, and it helps people to understand and register what you are saying! Good Luck mate!
so i really wanna pursue behavioral economics/science but formally in my college undergrad i didnt have economics but i do have a base of Economics, i don't know how to pursue furthur.
Congrats! I worked (and still freelance) there for a long time, it's a great place for people like you with lots going on to be involved with. The people are really amazing too. Hope you find it stimulating :)
Hey buddy! Congratulations!!✨ Really inspired by your story…. Will be grateful if you can guide me through my situation…. So I’m about to start my MSc Economics and I’m very interested in BE. I have one optional subject of BE in my syllabus, but here in India there are no dedicated courses for BE. Wanted your advice on whether I can do another master’s degree in BE abroad after my masters degree here in India OR should I just do online courses on BE along with my current MSc Economics degree? I’ve seen few courses online… one is offered by BEAST wherein Warwick graduates and professors are tutoring, one is on edX (University of Toronto ). If I take up these online courses, will I become and work as a Behavioural Economist or will it just be an addition to me portfolio? HOPING FOR A POSITIVE RESPONSE!😄
Dan Arieli is Israeli. This is were his accent is from :) There is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed about your high school and uni admission. You learned your lesson and moved on.
