- We back with some new bangers!! I don't know why they haven't released a game like this again they NEED to remaster or start this True Crime IP again man it was too good!
True Crime: New York City is a 2005 action-adventure video game developed by Luxoflux for PlayStation 2. It was ported to GameCube and Xbox by Exakt Entertainment, to Microsoft Windows by Aspyr, and to mobile by Hands-On Mobile. It was published on all systems by Activision. The PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube versions were released in November 2005, the PC version in March 2006, and the mobile version in March 2007.

The game "Sleeping Dogs" was actually supposed to be True Crime Hong Kong, but the project was a complete mess and took so much time that they just made a whole IP from the ground up! But I agree, I wish we got a remaster of this masterpiece.

@brandopolo2 Actually the project started as a game called "Black Lotus" by United Front Games (a studio formed by ex employees of great studios like R*) until Activision financed it and they decided to change the name to True Crime Hong Kong to sell it better and because they found the undercover-cop-thing as something that may pass as a third entry in the serie.
The thing is that GTA IV was coming and TCHK at that moment was a "smaller scale game", so Activision felt afraid that the proyect would flop, ordering to improve it MORE but it was becoming too expensive so they dropped it
Also, the TC IP wasn't atractive and the last game (NY) flopped, so United rebranded it to Sleeping Dogs (and also due to Activision being owners of the TC IP) and that's when Square Enix bought the game because they saw potential and were trying to enter the American market with Tomb Raider and Hitman
At the end Sleeping Dogs was a moderate success for a new IP but it didn't reach SE expectations, so they stopped financing United and cancelled SD2 and the studio went bankrupt. It was really a miracle that Sleeping Dogs released

I'm glad people are discovering this underrated game. I've been replaying it for many years. Even with all its jank, it's surprisingly fun.
Warning shots for some reason never seem to work outside of the tutorial. No idea if it's something with the game or I'm just that unlucky.

Square Enix should buy the True Crime trademark since True Crime Hong Kong became Sleeping Digs after Activision cancelled it, and have Bluepoint games remaster the first two games and polish the gameplay such as vehicle collision and frame rates, bugs, glitches, and freeze-ups. NYC can be the improved PC version for modern consoles. More outfits, vehicles, and variety of NPC models like what GTA trilogy Definitive edition did. Streets Of LA remaster/remake should happen and improve the bugs, glitches, and freeze-ups as well.
