I've actually been curious about this: I've enjoyed Kyuuyaku, Nocturne, and SMTV, and never once touched Persona simply because I don't need to play as high schoolers to feel invested in a game. How does Soul Hackers 2 compare to all of those?

i really wish they didn't call this game Soul Hackers 2. maybe then the game would have been a bit better received, not having to deal with the expectations and bitterness of the people who wanted a proper continuation of Soul Hackers. Soul Hackers 2 has a lot of things to like about it in my opinion, the art, character designs and general vibe of the game are really good, but because of the title it was given it has to live up to and be compared to a fundamentally different game.
Parvati's sexism is something else. The way you overcame it was just amazing. And so were the Ringo faces, they really added great flavor. I also liked how the number of people who played Soul Hackers 2 kept getting revised down. We start with 30, then go to 20, and end on just 12...
I remember playing SH2 BEFORE the update. Not being able to run was harsh, I stopped playing at Subway 14 and then picked it up after the update. Props for doing the whole thing without dash

I have a permanent grudge against Dormarth after she Macca-Beamed and stole half my cash in Blasted Tokyo when I played SMT4. It’s been a year and half and I still haven’t forgotten. Just wanted to say that since I saw her in the first dungeon here and got a traumatic flashback.
First of all incredible run, great job and god like editing skills. My editing knowledge is elementary school level compared to that! I wanted to mention Shield Deployment for the Azazel fight already as that would have probably helped out a lot too without having to grind incenses (Overclock with Heal + Guard could have done the job too probably). Good thing you noticed that before grinding on Figue for hours :D
Im finally playing through this game now to be one of the probably less than thirty people who are going to 100% this game and all of the sidequests (despite its... very clear problems and less than, well, acceptable dungeons I'm not *disliking* my time. It sure is a competent JRPG in a series of stellar JRPGS that make it look crap by comparison) and I see this video. Your challenge runs are seriously some of the best Megaten challenge videos I've seen just in general. The effort put into the edits is top-notch stuff, and your energy just makes it such a joy to watch.

Quite an amazing effort as in several of the battles you were doing them only a couple of levels higher than I was playing normally. I've played several Megaten universe games over the past few years, including SMT and Persona, but it was the mechanics of SH2 that I enjoyed the most. I really loved the commander skills, sabbath bonuses and switching around demons. We can only hope they port the game to Switch and get more sales and myabe do a sequel.

In Pokémon there's the move Attract, which infatuates the Pokémon of the opposite gender. A few genderless Pokémon has access to the move, and it will always fail if used by them.

As one of the 30 people that played souls hackers 2 Kaburagi is probably top 3 toughest bosses in the game and easily the hardest boss in the first 70% of the game. There's a reason he has a new boss theme.
05:00 pretty sure the demons NPCs appearing in the area ACTUALLY refresh from time to time, after enough time/battles or by roaming around meaning you CAN actually get healed infinitely.... That's what I remember doing when I played the game anyway

You, buffmaister and Jim Reaper are the reason why there need to be a competitive SMT game just like with Pokemon. The amount of strategy, team building and demon customization is enough for it have some competitive nature on it.
Competitive Shin Megami Tensei would be really chaotic, though. If Null/Repel/Drain element skills arent banned, people are going to make their characters and demons invincible. Also, what would the stat cap be? 99? All that aside, I completely agree with you, and I've been wondering why that is not a thing yet.

You're a better man than me. I will NEVER revisit this game. I never even played the first Soul Hackers so I had ZERO expectations, and it STILL managed to disappoint the absolute fuck out of me. To the point this was my most hated release of 2022
