In volume IV, Kurt will take you on a fun and exciting trip through the deep world of chords and scales on the guitar with interesting and useful approaches to many aspects of harmonic thought including functional harmony, modal harmony, voice leading, substitutions, chord scale theory, etudes, passing chords, voicings, and much more.
The class is based around a beautiful handwritten book that Kurt wrote specifically for this class, and it contains a wealth of information presented in a musical and participatory way filled with musical examples, etudes, and many different jams designed to immerse the student into every mode of the Major scale, Melodic minor, Harmonic minor, and Harmonic major, with fascinating surprises along the way. In addition to the many written examples on the music staff is a booklet containing chord graphs of every voicing contained in the book so that you can learn exactly the voicings Kurt plays on the guitar, and play along with him, and jam out with him.
Plus! Added bonus written material: discussions of the types and uses of dominant chords, chord symbology, symmetrical scales, and tips for finding voicings
The format is a 3-hour video presentation by Kurt Rosenwinkel (MP4) and other related materials such as jams (WAV/MP3), charts (PDF) and a handwritten method book (PDF).

Kurt is an amazing player, one of the best on the scene, IMO.
such a vibe
I like Kurt's harmonic world,so rich and always musical:He's also an highest-level instructor too,as others I like(Tim Miller or Chico Pinheiro for example)
Very cool stuff 😎
I like that metaphor of the “prism”. very cool….
Never knew you could do this, opens up the color palette so much, sounds amazing. Thanks
Kurt falsetto singing the leading tone...Moffa guitar sounds. Bossa Nova played with a great feeling. Everything in this video is heavenly
It makes no sense at all that Heartcore Records doesn't have 1 million subscribers
Unbelievable stuff showing how to be creative with harmony when you put your mind to it and filter it through the ears and heart!!! Thanks Kurt
He's a perfect teacher, too.
Beautiful sounds!
Caipi vibes with that Ab ❤
Yo Kurt - it’s Clay. Haven’t heard your voice in so long I enjoyed this video just on that level! Hope all is well with you.
Kurt…thank you so much.
I’m just going to show you guys some stuff you can play over the V chord…. (Then begins playing the deepest warmest masterful etudes you’ve ever heard in your life..)
that bass sound.. oomph
Nice video! How are you getting the bass/octave thing on your 6th and 5th strings?
I was just about to ask this as well! Sound great and inspiring lesson as always ❤
I second this question. My guess is he is using a thicker string and tuning down an octave?
Boss octave
@@raposacinza thanks - that was actually my guess - sounded great!
💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
moffa guitar?
what kind of octaver Kurt is using ? OC-5 ?
Yep, OC-5 seen regularly used in combination with his Fractal Axe FX rig.
I've been trying pick up some jazz knowledge lately, and most of the teachers on TH-cam I've found are obtuse assholes. Here's Kurt like a goddamn ray of augmented sunshine.
Not a gear head, I’m much more interested in music, but damn how does Kurt get that sustain? Doesn’t sound like it’s natural from the guitar or compression to me but maybe I’m wrong.
One of those cloud burst reverb pedals or something?
Sustain, esp without gain, changes everything
It might his singing
Its a mix of his singing, Reverb, delay and compressor
How do you get only the low E to be bass octave?
I think he has a midi out that splits the signal (not sure if it’s separated by string or by register) and sends them through an octaver
