This is probably the nicest, most watchable review video of any product I've ever seen. Great demos. Great example shots. Great editing. I love so much that you don't have "TH-cam voice." Please never change.
Absolutely!! I just ordered my DJi Pock.2 w/ the Creator combo .. So I've been watching videos on how to use it, how to get great results, etc. & your videos have been a great help, by far! & I've watched a LOT of videos lol. Thank you!
This is the only review of the Pocket 2 that really talks about the important practical stuff. Even the last bit where you lost the part is an excellent advice on how the product behaves while in use. Sorry that you couldn't find it, thanks for the heads-up.
Easily the best review I've watched. Especially for those who aren't too in need of knowing the why but the how. Thanks for sharing the tests and quality examples!
Great review! Some comments - - some users feel that 'battery saver' mode gives the best quality in normal conditions. The high quality mode adds a fair bit of noise reduction to the picture and that can soften it a bit. Best kept for lower light conditions. - Explore the audio options in pro mode - indoors you might want to use "front" only and "mono" to reduce the pickup of reflections from the room surfaces. "Front" means "in front of the lens" whichever way it is pointing. So in selfie mode, the "front" setting will pick up your voice as the lens is pointing at you. - In windy conditions attach the windshield to the wireless transmitter and you should get pretty good results. - You clearly know about ND filters - just mentioning that I use a single variable filter rather than carry around a box of the things, and it seems to work well. - Available zoom length varies with output settings - you get more zoom at 1080p than at 4K - indeed though, it's digital, but with some clever stuff using the quad beyer sensor's 64MPs. - I wouldn't trust the case to securely hold anything! Maybe pop the case into a ziplock sandwich bag or something. Yesterday here we had a nice warm day - 30C, eat your heart out - and one of the miniscule magnets came off the wide angle lens - only found it because it attached to a metallic object - it's really necessary to very regularly check for that kind of thing, unfortunately. - Looks like you've got the cutest kid on the planet there - apart from my grandchildren, that is. :)
Thanks for your comments, Peter. Some really great info. I'll definitely play around a bit more with the audio. There's definitely still more for me to explore, so thanks for the tips. I didn't know that about Battery Saver so I'll explore that some more and do some more tests. Yeah, using variable NDs is most certainly my preference - I got two: 2-5 F stops and 6-9 F stops, so I'm looking forward to trying them out. I had gotten individual NDs at first, but quickly realised it was going to be too much of a faff to switch them around as light levels fluctuated.
What can you say... a lot of work went into that video... very in depth .. honest . and professional. Actually when you started running it showed a great selling point of this camera IMO no silder needed with a steady hand . It was very stable when you was running.
So far I’m really enjoying using the DJI Pocket 2, and it has completely surpassed my expectations. I think the audio directly from the Pocket 2 sounded better than when my lav mic was plugged in, so I’ll most likely just use the audio directly from the Pocket 2, but I may get the Rode SmatLav to test as well. There was definitely some loss in quality in the audio whilst I was indoors, but I know that will vary based on the type of room you’re in. But overall, great little camera. It won’t replace my a7 III cameras but will be a welcome addition for shooting vlogs and BTS. Also, if you end up shooting in the D-Cinelike colour profile (which I recommend as the footage looks much better) you can pick up my corrective LUTs that will colour correct the footage for you really quickly and easily with no faffing about bit.ly/36MJaxw

I'm gonna be sharing a video soon about the best audio solutions now that I've had a good amount of time to use the Pocket 2.

Ah, I see. You can definitely get by without having to use your phone. The latest video I posted I was using the Pocket 2 and didn't use my phone as the app wasn't working. There have also been other occasions where I haven't connected my phone and it's worked out ok.
Thanks for your video! You had a lot of stuff shortly in a nice package! I assume the muffly sound using the inbuilt mics inside comes from room acoustic reflections, the further awat the pocket2(mics) are, the more of those reflections you get . If you use inbuilt mics inside, you either talk near to the pocket2 or you choose (on the PRO-mode?) audio as mono and from the front(vlog-mode). Then the Pocket2 uses propably (?) only the mic towards you (or only the side mics) and does not use the mic facing away from you on the "normal front" side - leaving the "longer reflections" in minimum and consentrating on the mic signal in front of you = The direct acoustic signal comes on a higher level. There you can try the best solution for inbuilt mics. You can also move in inside space towards the corner and check what it does to the "sound/eq curve" - it could boost the bass section and bring more warmth to your voice or on the other hand: make it too "boomy". Mostly you can solve this with a lav mic well placed somewhere near your sound source = mouth.
Just carry a power bank with you. That's what I've been doing. I get about 2 hours out of the Pocket 2 shooting in 4K, and just charge it when I'm on the go between locations.

Thanks, Bill 😊 I haven't used the waterproof case myself, but I haven't yet filmed in the rain with the P2 as i have a couple of other alternatives. But if you know you'll be filming in the rain I'd say the waterproof case might possibly be worth getting.

@@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you. I have an unrelated question. Which midrange smartphones has great video recording camera ? I want to make "talking heads" youtube and tiktok videos
I just started testing the pocket 2 myself one thing I’m noticing is that the highlights are very blown out and hard to recover also the D Cen is very hard to grade. It destroys the GoPro in low light but the GoPro has better sky colors.
Ah ok. I'm not sure what tools those programs use for colour grading but I find it's not too bad when using D-cinelike, and colour correcting and grading in Premiere Pro.
Currently in the works of building up my camera Arsenal and after this I’ll most definetly will be buying this little guy. Thanks for the in-depth review
When i take video of my self in DJI pocket 2 while watching my self in screen everything is ok. But the problem is when you play the video afte you record yourself, my face is wrong direction like selfie mirror. Any solution?
I am new to the equipment and have recorded audio 3 times. The first time two interviews of 3-5 min and it worked excellent. For the next two occasions I asked for help to place the wireless microphone near a speaker because it was far from the people who were speaking, the result was choppy audio or with drops, do you think I know when I keep the microphone 2-3 meters away with my back to me?
Depends on the wireless system you have. It's possible that there can be drops in audio without direct line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. At what distance this happens depends on the system you have and its capabilities.
Thanks for the vid, might buy this for travelling vlogs. Is there a good "stick" to buy to attach the camera with to get a further away angle from yourself? Cheers!
It would definitely be perfect for travel vlogs. In terms of sticks, you could give this one by Smatree amzn.to/3GtHqIE Telesin also do some decent sticks too.
Decided to buy the Dji 4 Action combo from Amazon. After seeing ur video a month ago on Dji Action 4 vs Dji action 3. Ur review was very helpful. Cheers

Thank you! 😊
Would love to hear what you think of this vs the pocket 3 or osmo action 4😮
Amazing review! So grateful for your video, it makes me buy it! Thanks 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Great video. What do you recommend for walking tours videos this or sony zv1 to show around cities and nature.
Thanks. I would go with the Pocket 2 over the ZV-1 because it’s a wider field of view plus you have the gimbal for smooth footage. I’d also recommend a 360 camera like the Insta360 X3.
Great video Tamara! can you tell me if you need to use a waterproof case if you're filming in the rain?
Thanks, Bill 😊 I haven't used the waterproof case myself, but I haven't yet filmed in the rain with the P2 as i have a couple of other alternatives. But if you know you'll be filming in the rain I'd say the waterproof case might possibly be worth getting.
@@TamaraGabrielUK awesome thank you!
You're welcome!
Loving this video! Thank you for posting 🥰
No problem 😊
I love your dog!!!!! Your daughter is adorable!!
Thank you 😊
After watching your reviews and tips, I went out and purchased a Pocket 2. Can't wait to use it. I was using an Android phone with gimbal set-up before and discovered the limitations Android and of not being able to shoot 60fps with the gimbal software. After contemplating switching to Apple, I found this brilliant Pocket 2! Thanks so much!
Amazing. I'm so glad it helped. I hope you enjoy using the Pocket 2 as much as I do 😊 If you need any help with anything, just shout.
What is Gimbal
Something you put your camera or phone on and it helps steady the footage.

Thank you. I have an unrelated question. Which midrange smartphones has great video recording camera ? I want to make "talking heads" youtube and tiktok videos
I couldn’t say as I haven’t tested a range of smartphones.
Greetings from Scotland. Great way of doing a review. Most impressed. Oh, and the product is pretty good too... Thanks, and keep up the good work!

So helpful to me! You laid everything out so nicely from the standpoint of the user. What an amazing tiny video camera!
Thanks! Glad you found the video helpful 😊
such a great review video! thanks for the review! i'm excited to get this on hand soon and vlog ~~
Thanks, Vicky, and you're very welcome 😊
@@TamaraGabrielUK I was beige watching so many of your videos! Love seeing more women filmmakers
🤗
I just started testing the pocket 2 myself one thing I’m noticing is that the highlights are very blown out and hard to recover also the D Cen is very hard to grade. It destroys the GoPro in low light but the GoPro has better sky colors.
What do you currently use for colour correcting and grading?
@@TamaraGabrielUK I normally use capture one but the files are not recognized so I briefly used iPhoto. For video I use final cut pro
Ah ok. I'm not sure what tools those programs use for colour grading but I find it's not too bad when using D-cinelike, and colour correcting and grading in Premiere Pro.
why a 4K video recorded with the DJI Pocket 2 camera doubles in size on the memory card
One of the best pocket 2 videos I’ve seen. Awesome! (The adapters falling out is soo annoying)
Thanks so much! Yeah, really annoying, I just don't put them in there anymore 😆
4:07 What other camera have you used for this vlog ? Thank you
It was filmed with the Pocket 2. For the product shots I used my a7 III.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you so much! 👍
You're welcome 😊

Are there any tips on how to shoot in cloudy weather on dji pocket 2, now autumn I think it will be relevant
No matter the conditions, this video should help you out 😊 th-cam.com/video/Zh8CLMdRQOA/w-d-xo.html
Super helpful tests and comparisons, thanks!
Glad you found it useful 😊
When i take video of my self in DJI pocket 2 while watching my self in screen everything is ok. But the problem is when you play the video afte you record yourself, my face is wrong direction like selfie mirror. Any solution?
Just FYI- You can get 4x digital zoom in 1080.
Thanks for the heads up 😊
I got mine this week. Such an awesome little thing. Thanks for the review. 🙏
You're welcome 😊 Yeah, it really is a great little camera.
08:25 how do you correct the color there?
Great review! I'm impressed with its stability during the running scene...so smooth...
Thanks. Yeah, it's a really great camera. I still enjoy using it after all these months.
Nice review!
Thanks! 😊
Fantastic review! All the best!!!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the comprehensive review!
the lav mic is a screw to secure, which means it will not connect right on a non screw jack correctly.
Yeah I though that might be the case. I've tried it with one of my other lavs and it was fine 🙂
Good video! 🇦🇷❣️
Thanks! 😊
Decided to buy the Dji 4 Action combo from Amazon. After seeing ur video a month ago on Dji Action 4 vs Dji action 3. Ur review was very helpful. Cheers
No problem ☺️
