Probably the best or one of the best review on Pocket 2. Watching and listening closely to all your details. The somewhat mysterious narration glued me till the end.
Thanks for the great review. The Osmo footage looks stunning, but we should remember that's not only because it was filmed by the Pocket 2, it's mainly because you know exactly what you're doing. Having a lot of training, using interesting objects to film, playing with natural sun lights, perfect framing, smooth movements, great choice of music, calm and clear voice over.
I don’t normally leave a comment, but this is what a review should be like on TH-cam. Every other tech tubers just rehash the same thing. I love when people are honest instead of sucking up to the company. Thank you
As others have said, I think this is one of the best Pocket 2 reviews on TH-cam. Not only were you thorough, you also showed video examples between the Pocket 1 and 2. Excellent work 👏🏻
I was thinking about buying the DJI Pocket 2. After watching your video and since it is my first pocket camera, I ordered it. Thank you very much and greetings from Switzerland.
Excellent video, nicely done! But it seems the the depth of field (DOF) is quite shallow.Perhaps because of the 1.8 f lens. Timeline frame at 4:18 reveals this shallow DOF.
The useless active tracking fail is a big deal breaker for me. When that gets fixed I'll definitely be investing in one of these. Thanks for the time put into this great review.
Such a well made video at first after seeing the length of the video I was like I will watch for a couple of mins and then switch to something else but damm this kept me hooked right to the end
Absolutely perfect. I am a DJI fan (Inspire 1 drone) and have been looking for a good gimble cam for the families up and coming TH-cam page. Watching this has almost made up my mind. Excellent delivery, footage, features and an honest review at the end. This has put this device in my top 3. This review was a year ago so am hoping that firmware has improved for the auto tracking feature, as I would use this a lot. Many thanks Roo.
Great review! Well done, easy to understand, relatable, well spoken. I'm an FAA Part 107 Pilot and I currently have and use two DJI drones. I've been looking into the pocket to help with ground jobs. You made me believe I should add one to my collection. You earned another subscription!
A beautiful honest and calming review. Thanks Roo. Love the kittens. The footage at 6:50 where you overtake the running girl looks like a drone shot. Amazing
Having borrowed DJI2 couple of days then I came to this conclusion that DJI sadly didn't address all issues with DJI 1 and people thinking to buy this product should definitely wait for a more complete package on 2021.
Great video. I decided not to get a Pocket 1 but to upgrade my compact to a Canon G7X mk3 and Zhiyun M2 gimbal. An aftermarket quick release plate makes it quick to remove the camera and the M2 has locks that keep the balance adjustments when folded away. The Pocket 1 (or 2) would be smaller to carry but with all the necessary add ons get expensive.
I hope the people at DJI follow your suggestions for improvement. Your review helps me a lot with my decision to invest in this pocket gimbal camera. Thanks for your time doing it.
I've just bought this camera (today) and am so excited about it. I too was a tad dismayed at all the add ons (but I bought the add on pack with the camera) and the prospect of mislaying all the bits, but I have a small camera bag and will be depositing them there. I have opted to leave the base with WiFi attached as I don't mind it being longer, as it gives me more to grab on to. I did notice the camera getting hot when I had it on for about 10 mins but after watching your video, I now know why. I was also shooting endlessly in 4k 60fps, which, I'm just learning, isn't necessary! I loved watching your footage as it gave me some inspiration regarding what I can go out and try.....but what would be really helpful is to watch you actually filming using the camera, how you hold and move it, the height you film at, as I spied some quite low shots and wondered if you were just dangling it down towards the ground 🤔 Thanks for posting...really helpful!
Just for the record, I think your reviews are fantastic! And for those commenting about your speaking voice I find it rather relaxing. I've subscribed and I can't believe thousands more haven't. I'm Looking to buy a Pocket 2 shortly and am amazed at some of the shots you got out of it! 👍 Big thumbs up from me!
Great video! The problem you have pulling it out of the case is because of your hand placement. It kind of looks like you are squeezing it in the area which will make it harder you slide out. I grab the top of the case and have no problem. Thank you for making such a great video.
Just got one for Christmas and was on the edge about keeping it. After your in-depth review I was convinced to go out there and use it. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for the honest review! This video was excellent 👍 I clicked off of at least 6 videos before yours because they were people overly excited about selling you a free product they got given to them from the camera company. With that being said I’m looking to get this for my channel, I make fabrication videos and I find my GoPro is not cutting it as a Second camera. I just subscribed to your channel 👍 Thanks again for this video!
I am just a hobbyist artist type photographer that will be doing a local flare type VLOGS for historic and media purposes. But the DJI Pocket 2 is so nice but simple light and clean. This camera is dynamic range for color and sound is great too for all it does it's like carrying around 50lbs. of gear with Heart Failure. not for me, thing. so this little pocket video Cam with lots of Dynamic range for sound on all four sides. that's a lot of gear for the weight and wear out ratio. I am excited. Will keep up with the Roo's Reviews.
how did Mike Festiva got here? I watch all your videos Mike :-) I started cnc plasma cutting and delivery business as a side hustle and was looking long time for the right camera to mount on the cnc plasma cutter head but also that would work as the handheld vlogging camera so kind of one tool to serve all my content creating needs for the new business and I have just purchased the osmo 2 today, I originally looked at Go Pros but had one many years back and though it is kind of one trick pony if you get me so I hope this will do the trick for me, I would love to see videos on how you use this camera if you ended up getting it. All the best from Czech republic
The so called 64mp camera is shocking. Zoom in anywhere and the details are awful. Far better using your mobile for photography. Surprised you didn't say more on it.
Thank you for the review. Convinced me not to upgrade, since I'm happy with what the first model offers. I feel like the upgrades are more focused on making it a more widely used product than actually improving its previous flaws. I would love to have the improved slow motion, but thus far I haven't had any problems getting a great cinematic slow motion from the pocket one. The only thing that's teasing me is improved dynamic range and low light capability.
Yes it's not quite a "must upgrade" for many people. In my latest video I tested all the important specs side by side with the Pocket 1 and some things were actually preferable on the older model.
Dude, not only technically top notch review... but your narrating voice is awesome! May I ask whether your low light footage was unedited and shot in auto mode?
Thanks! The low light footage was straight out of camera. The indoor side by side low light comparisons used manual ISO settings. I wrote the ISO values on the screen for comparison. The outdoor shots were all auto I think.
Great video. Thanks for the honesty. Seems like a good little camera, but the struggle to pull off the tripod adapter module is exactly what makes me decide I don't want to buy a product. These days a company should be aware that if you have to wrestle with your camera and the accessories, you're doing something wrong.
Thank you. My wife just gave me a Pocket 2 Combi outfit today for my birthday! I'm excited to see what I can do with it. It's useful to know problems to look out for as well as the joys of the outfit. I empathise regarding all the losable bits and pieces: when I ripped open the box and started shaking out the add-ons I stopped and went to the kitchen for small sandwich box to avoid mislaying any from the outset!
When filming people with bright sky behind them it can sometimes blow out the sky until the blue sky is just a white wash, but it keeps the people well exposed. The Pocket 1 often did the opposite in back lit scenes, underexposing people and other ground objects while exposing the sky correctly, which was worse for me. I use the little on-screen exposure control a lot so I don't really encounter too many exposure issues.
it is nice that you didn't play around with any filters.. i didn't have any when i first bought it. i tried to sell it and buy a s23 ultra because i don'0t like filters and little screen to know what i'm looking at.. and auto most times don't work... but this smartphone turn out to cost double the price in less than a month and nobody would by my pocket 2 so i will stick to it. Of course, i won't buy pocket 3. What do you think about this camera now?
I just received my Pocket 2 and after looking at some of the reviews, I'm *really* impressed with your post work - the slowmo with the girl's hair and the way you're adding the sound track! GOOD JOB! I bought mine because I want to try to do some DIY handyman projects for the world to see.
I've been having active track glitches just like you, too. It was frustrating and immediately found out that it doesn't track my face at all, even under ideal circumstances. I emailed DJI and their response was to tell me it is improved over the original, which is even more disappointing. They have to be kidding I hope. They cannot be serious. It totally was better in the first generation and that's amazing that such a thing is possible in technology these days. One thing I upgraded for the most was the microphone. I love it other than it doesn't suit my Sennheiser lav mic at all, but it does allow you to start and stop recording remotely on the side button, which is genius. Excellent review!
Great video review of the DJI Pocket 2. So many devices to choose from out there. Most reviews tell you that the reviewed device is the one to buy. I enjoyed your honest review based on experience. I was really impressed with the color achieved on this device. I will be buying this device and try it out. All the best my friend.
A fellow Canadian eh! Great review! I purchased it on day one, and I'm so glad I did! It's been great so far. Filming against the sun has produced unreal results even our phones can't handle. All my recent videos are using the Pocket 2 and low light video is amazing! Timelapse is also great Thanks for the detailed review... Validated my purchase for sure.
Thank you for your comprehensive and honest review. I bought the Pocket 2 last week and have exactly the same likes and dislikes as you. You're right. it's 1.5 not 2.0
Got a little dark at the end there, haha, love the humour and loved the upload! A beautiful tech review with a heavy meditational vibe, "Just Damn Marvelous"..🥰❤️
Great review and nicely done! Understand for you not getting the creators bundle. But does add to so much more functionality. Including all those different functions that require time and effort when done snapping off and on individually. I rather deal with the extra length then the wasted time & effort setting up for needed features. And the higher possibility of losing or breaking those little things. I don't mind the extra length that the do it all base as still fits in the case and still is much portable. To the case tripod hole that's for the included tripod in the creator's bundle a place to store the tripod when not needed. As to the difficulty in removing base items. Use the peel away method. Where you push down and up kinda of like breaking a candy bar in half.
I can imagine the effort that is needed to make this video. The way you planned and filmed has resulted in fantastic review with excellent videography and selection of places/subjects!
Very in depth review! Looks like a great camera in a compact package. Low light quality was much better than I was expecting. Also, the tripod hole on the case is meant to be for storing the mini tripod that comes with the creator kit.
I thought you were some big production before looking at your subs. The audio quality of this video is CRISP👍 would like to know your thoughts on osmo action and hero9
Thanks! I'm not a big fan of Gopros as I had too many problems with them freezing and giving me other reliability issues. I like the Osmo Action very much, but it's not perfect. I'm hoping for an Action 2 to come out.
Other reviews agree there's something seriously wrong with the tracking - I suspect DJI will fix this as a high priority. Others also comment on the higher temperature, but DJI say the thermal design allows the heat to escape to the body from the inside, allowing it to run for long periods without shutting down like some cameras do. This is an excellently produced, balanced and thoughtful review with first class examples. I think the only thing you haven't covered much is the sound quality and sound options, which for me (as a retired recording engineer) are the standout features of the device. The stereo image from those 4 mics is first class, almost binaural, and the camera does clever stuff in pivoting the soundfield to match the direction that the gimbal points to. It also 'zooms' the image to match the video zoom. You can have front only or rear only or both, in mono and stereo, with audio level controls. Adding the handle gives you mic input and headphone output (from one socket) plus a tiny speaker. And then there's the wireless mic which also has a mono input for a 3rd party lav mic. If you regard the creator pack as a single device, I don't think there's anything on the market which provides such a range of audio functions and options out-of-the-box, at any price. Buying the creator pack gives you the whole lot in one go for a higher price, while the base package you bought is attractive to people who already have accessories. I think it's a good approach. You get what you pay for - in fact, you get a remarkably comprehensive package for a very competitive price whichever you buy.
That was a beautifully articulated comment with many excellent points. I had to cut some tests short in this review for the sake of length but I have a more detailed audio test coming up in my Pocket 1 vs Pocket 2 video. I'm sure DJI are working right now on the tracking issues. It's a pity it's so common place now for tech companies to release unfinished products with serious problems or advertised features missing. But DJI are known to be good about resolving them eventually.
excellent review, thank you so very much as I just bought one myself .Im tried of the bulky cameras for shooting real estate videos. I think this will work out fine.
What on Earth could you possibly be blurring at 9:25? This question will haunt me until my last breath, lol. Great video! Have the Pocket 2 already (creator's kit) and love it. Going to keep my Osmo Pocket too, as it's still great.
Nice review. I am nearly convince to buy but should think it over first, as I am thinking to buy a GoPro9, but after seeing this, now I have doubts on GoPro. Before ending, let me say, your voice sounds lovable...😁😁😁. Oh, I forgot, I just love the dog and the kittens, they're sooo adorable.
I gave you 👍🏼 because of that cute kittens. Hahaha, just kidding .this video actually help me a lot because i am planning to buy a OP2 in near future. Hopefully it will worth my money. I am personally a fan of DJI Product. Thanks for the honest review btw. Your channel deserved to subscribe. Good job👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
14:37 its for the small tripod that comes with dji pocket 2. you can put most of the extra parts on this case . also, you have to know that there is a DJI Pocket 2 COMBO. that comes with all what you need
Thanks, yeah I know about the tripod, I was just expressing that I found it silly that they put a tripod socket on the case but didn't put one on the camera itself. I didn't buy the combo (if you mean the do it all handle) because it makes the camera really long and awkward.

i think you can change the setting to fast and slow , the fast one is looking crap but the slow one is similar to the dji 1

I am grateful for your review. Very well thought out. Thank you for your honesty.
the tripod hole on the case is for the the Do-It-All-Combo's tiny tripod stand. So the tiny tripod can be carried together with the case.

Thanks, i felt this is the most genuine review. I will not go with pocket2, rather wait for sometime.
Thank you for your comprehensive and honest review. I bought the Pocket 2 last week and have exactly the same likes and dislikes as you. You're right. it's 1.5 not 2.0
Thanks Daryl!
Got a little dark at the end there, haha, love the humour and loved the upload!
A beautiful tech review with a heavy meditational vibe, "Just Damn Marvelous"..🥰❤️
Wow what a review! An absolute pleasure to watch, from the narration to the video and editing.
Thanks for those tips
I can imagine the effort that is needed to make this video. The way you planned and filmed has resulted in fantastic review with excellent videography and selection of places/subjects!
Thank you for seeing that.
@@Roos-Reviews pros and cons between the action and pocket 2?
Perfectly put my friend, bravo.
excellent review, thank you so very much as I just bought one myself .Im tried of the bulky cameras for shooting real estate videos. I think this will work out fine.
This review is fantastic! So thorough!!! Definitely sold me on the camera!
Amazing review! After watching so many, your video was the one that did it for me 👍
Extremely high quality, useful, sincere video review. Thanks.
What on Earth could you possibly be blurring at 9:25? This question will haunt me until my last breath, lol.
Great video! Have the Pocket 2 already (creator's kit) and love it. Going to keep my Osmo Pocket too, as it's still great.
Im guessing his address? Or its a ufo
I really want the Pocket 3. I hope by then they got the tracking mode figured out again and the camera will be even better and well rounded.
And hopefully no more clip-on wifi and bluetooth modules next time.
I'm glad I just ordered one as well. Thanks for the honest review

Cheers
i just stumbled in here but I realized after watching this review I'm planning to get one now, just finding enough money though haha
