There's just something so deep and enriching about Bruce Faulconer's DBZ themes... So mysterious, so mystical, and yet when I listen, it feels like something I've waited for my whole life. Indescribable.
This theme is a remnant of an era past. Back when we didn't just expect a new transformation would fix everything and save the day. This spirit bomb attempt actually made you feel something, watching everyone put their life on the line to protect Goku for one last attack.
Even cell saga was about mastering the super saiyan form until goku and gohan fully mastered it and gohan took it another level forward by finally accepting his emotions and duty.
The irony is that ki technically does exist...but the mastery of that level in the show can only hope to be possible. So far, I believe it can set certain things alight(Paper for instance).
Bruce Faulconer is a genius to make up so many epic themes. 5 minute power ups like Final Flash are awesome, with Faulconers music. It makes Kai almost unwatchable.

I actually grew up with the original Z and I prefer Kai. I miss Bruce's music, but I thought everything else in Kai was an improvement, ESPECIALLY the script.
Nick6Michael It's just my opinion. I've watched both multiple times and I just prefer Kai. A lot of the voice changes were really good (Kai Frieza for the win) and I'm really glad that Kai just gets straight to point and skips all the needless filler. Some of those filler episodes, while fun the first time, are REALLY hard to sit through on a second viewing. You've also got to admit the script for the original could be really cringe worthy at points. Frieza: Hey! Why can't I hit you! Goku: You didn't say please! Frieza: You.......All right thennnnn PLEASE!!! Me: T_T Why is Goku cracking jokes when his best friend was just murdered?
Nick6Michael What? You liked the Garlic Jr. Saga? Princess snake? Namek taking over ten episodes to blow up in five minutes? All those episodes of Goku just standing there charging the Spirit Bomb? All the looped footage in the fight scenes? Really the only filler I liked in the original was how they extended the Majin Vegeta fight. That was badass. The music tracks in the original are awesome and the show does have a lot of nostalgic value for me, but I try not to let nostalgia influence how I feel about something. If I think something is really good then I'll say so, but if I think something hasn't held up well then I'll say that too. In my opinion the original dub has a lot of flaws that I've noticed more and more as I've gotten older. Even the Voice actors at Funimation have said that they prefer their work on Kai.

At 3:40, a feeling of doubt begins to linger. "Can we really do this?". 4:10 comes and screams out "Yes! The time has come! It's Over!". By the time 4:30 comes around, the great power and intensity is muted by the innocence and benevolence of the contributors as the foe slowly beings to fade away. At 5:20, the hero breathes deeply, exhausted from the sheer power so suddenly released. 5:45 Everyone can finally feel it, freedom, the battle is won.

I watched dbz for the first time with Japanese music and I must say I did highly rate it, I re watched it after several years with the Bruce faulconer music and I must say, the Japanese music doesn’t even come close to this masterpiece.
Agreed. The Japanese music was soooo slow and out of pace with the action. It all sounded so samey too for the most part. Same fucking instruments. Whereas Faulconer's studio could do instrument sounds as well as electronic sounds, so it was far more versatile and each song was TRULY unique. Hell, listen to 'Nail's gift' theme from Faulconer...it sounds so meditative, calming, and uniquely unidentifiable. It just sounds like heaven. There is nothing like it from the Japanese OST. The Japanese OST was good for the more methodical Dragon Ball, but for Z, its just terrible.
well fucking said man, the complaint i hear a lot is that the music is constantly playing and it's like too much, but for me it set the tone majority of the time, whereas silence would have made the scene a lot weaker. They even had THEMES for gods sake and versatility with genres like you said, you had the epic standoff music that intensifies the staredowns then you had the badass fight music with guitar then it could calm down to happy cheery music when it's just them chilling at Bulma's or something. The Japanese soundtrack doesn't really deliver as much emotion as the american one did. With all due respect though I'm not bashing it. Although props to DBS for having really good music, hell even some of it reminds me of faulconer a bit!
The Falconer Productions music does fit the Z series nicely. I think Z had this idea of overcoming evil and power levels never before seen that makes Falconer music fit. However, with Super having all of these Universes with varying Power Levels, that awe seems hard to capture with the Falconer Productions soundtrack. I wish his group would make at least one more soundtrack for Super to see how it would work.
The part @1:37 will always remind me of the scene where goku begins the spirit bomb on namek. Water starts to sprout out of the ground and frieza is not impressed.
This is one of those themes that plays in your head when you’re trying to get your life together for the things you love and want the most.
@Merciless Freak Man, you are such an idiot 3 months ago
The Falconer Productions music does fit the Z series nicely. I think Z had this idea of overcoming evil and power levels never before seen that makes Falconer music fit. However, with Super having all of these Universes with varying Power Levels, that awe seems hard to capture with the Falconer Productions soundtrack. I wish his group would make at least one more soundtrack for Super to see how it would work.
@@mysterycupofjoe2670 Falconer and the others probably won't come back for the DBS, probably because of the lawsuit...
I don't think I can find the right words to describe how this makes me feel. There's something almost angelic about it.
The part @1:37 will always remind me of the scene where goku begins the spirit bomb on namek. Water starts to sprout out of the ground and frieza is not impressed.
Man i remember listening to this like a stoner the dragon ball series has never let me down thank bruce!
Wow man 👌
2:05 All of Goku's training and battles have led up to this moment. For the fate of the universe!
love this theme
This is one of those themes that plays in your head when you’re trying to get your life together for the things you love and want the most. When you have to endure whatever it’s takes to achieve your goals , for whoever else is going through hell in life rn *take my energy and finish your final attack !!!!! You’re so close to your goals, go win this one for me !!!!*
Stars and Heavens...Lend me your power!
Everytime i hear this i just hear goku saying
“People of the universe LEND ME YOUR ENERGY”
GOLD.
"Go champ? That guy...HAHAHAHAHAHA!" -Piccolo
I grew up with the original DBZ with un-cut scenes. The sad thing is I never watched the Frieza saga cus It never aired on Toonami and by the time I started watching, It was already the start of the cell saga. But I at least got to watch that and the Boo saga in all of their glory.
i love dragon ball so much, will forever be my favorite anime
2:23 - 2:45 This part always makes my prana flow through my whole body and into my hands as if I'm generating a chi ball. I wish I could learn qigong properly.
Every part of this song is amazing
GOKU TAKE MY ENERGY!!!
Dbz is life nd goku (kakarot) is really a true hero nd my true hero for ever..!!!🔥🔥
Goku spirit lives on for ever..!😢
All time favorite theme... Thank u Dbz for the memories
4:18 HERE WE GO!
I was literally 6 years old when this happened! And look ! I’m here in 2024 !
Thank you Toriyama Sensei for making our childhood amazing……
4:11 My fav part XD
Vendetta - "Hey people of Earth...RAISE UP YOUR HANDS RIGHT NOW OR YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE"!! loved that Spirit Bomb moment, can't blame Vegetta, he explained very calmly and in detail the situation and they just blew him off, meanwhile good Buu is getting worked I've by Kid Buu. Only after Hercule gets frustrated and sounds off and the people hear him do they raise their hands.
Faulconer's a genius. I don't know how one comes up with such an amazing sound.
Mike Smith and Scott Morgan did this theme. Here’s the full list: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E1UomwNgEJRdb2d7CJ-yG2rYPE6dGLkyEms-858EQro/htmlview#gid=2077710002
@@KL42596 ty. fuck faulconer. he is the edison that stole from tesla.
“ What are you waiting for? Throw him a bean”
“Quiet boy where’s your honor?”
Can i say this !!! as an female dbz fan i enjoy both the american and Japanese ost that is all lol .
"After all the time we spent trying to kill these things, he does it in one blow!"
"Gohan, you're amazing!"
"But - but how?"
"He did it right... He increased his strength without losing speed!"
"He just blew all those creatures off with nothing but his energy!"
"And look at him. He's perfectly calm. It's almost like he hasn't even warmed up yet!"
Dragon Ball Z without Bruce Faulconer's music? I don't think so, pal.
Nice how this theme was cleverly used in Legacy of Goku 2 even though Goku never used the Spirit Bomb in that game.
cell saga at 2:08
vegeta "he just blew all those creatures off with nothing but his energy"
Trunks "And look at him he's perfectly calm like he hasn't even warmed up yet"
+Russ Feratovic legit hahah
This Theme is the Best out of all. You Could just Talk About the bass and the Awsome melody that fits goku's seriousness And power.
0:25
Literally almost every non-fighting scene during Ssj2 Gohan vs Perfect Cell
Thot Patrol we got a kai fan here
Psykoh da1 yup sometimes the Faulconer score was a little repetitive... wasn’t his fault though, every weekday there was a brand new episode.
“Go Champ Go Champ,Satan Satan”
Piccolo:Go champ what a guy HAHAHAHA
Gohan:It looks like everybody is giving up there energy now alright DAD!
Sylvester Keith 2:03 - 3:00
5:50 to the end gives me chills down my spine every time I hear it
CHARGING MY ATTACK!(LMAO)
I couldn’t imagine watching this without this soundtrack
Faulconer and his team’s score just worked for DBZ at the time. Super has some really good tracks on the OST but they’ll never compare to this. Never.
You KNOW a track is good when you have a ton of people saying “(X:XX) is my favorite part!” And they’re mostly all different
This new generation will never what the cell games meant for us....it was our World war 3
I thought this theme was for Freiza saga.
0:23
Goku and Cell in between sparring during their warm-ups.
1:38 Stars and heaven, give me your power!
It is like holding the hope of the universe
1:37 i love that part
2:05 reminds me of when goku rises from the water right before frieza attempts to kill gohan. Legendary!
