Simple, straightforward construction. Doesn't get much easier than that. Very nice doweling job. Makes for good strong joint. And the few mm off the diameter will never be missed. Excellent presentation. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
That is a thing of beauty Victor! That wood started off as old, tough and almost forgotten and you made it into an outstanding piece of furniture that is timeless!
That's one fantastic job and video I love your OZ wood's always come up great thanks for sharing your time and skill and remember stay safe and make 🍺🍺👍👍🇬🇧
Now that has planted a seed. My brother in law had an old gum tree dropped a couple of years ago and its been sitting seasoning in my back yard ever since. Its been nearly 2 years now so it looks like I might be off to Trade Tools to get a flattening bit for my router and then start milling some timber up. The slabs are about 6' long by about 18-20" wide and the middle of the tree was white ant eaten so I have a nice selection to work with, might even do something with a live edge. Keep up the inspirational work Vic!
Very nice Vic. Never heard of that wood. Definitely not found in the West. Yep, I wear my gloves when handling rough hardwood's 😊. I take it, like me, you are not allowed to wear your boots indoors 😉
I'll just let you enjoy some workshop sounds.. 😅😅 I had to stop the video here to laugh mate, that was hilarious 😆😆.. Great build, the table came out fabolous.
Lovely job as usual, I liked the simple yet functional dado base. Super strong, will never move yet very straightforward to execute. Also good to see you proving once again with the glue up for the top that no woodworker has ever said "I have too many clamps"
This is just beautiful! 😍😍 I don't know if I will ever have the skills or the tools to make this but watching you work is so soothing 🤗. Love from the island of Jamaica
Vic that's a lovely table mate, the names of your hardwoods in Australia are bonkers, I imagine there rock solid as it most take generations for these hardwoods to grow in such hot dry conditions. Ps God knows why you haven't hit 50k yet your content is second to none, just shows you, youtube shares utter shit sometimes well most of the time.
Haha, you're right Karl. I was just telling James that Black Butt doesn't even have a black butt 😂. The channel growth has been a bit disappointing this year, always make you question your future on this platform. Thank you very much Karl.
Yep, Aussie hardwoods are known to be pretty much the toughest timbers in the world. there is one species here, known as 'wadi', as its called by the indigenous folk here. they used it to make fighting clubs as its almost as hard as iron. you cant nail it, it has to be drilled and screwed together, nails will just bend.
To say our native timber is tough, is an understatement. I put an offcut at the bottom of a firepit. After 2 hours of flames it was still intact, just slightly blackened.
Everything in your videos is full of quality and craftsmanship. The pace, attention to detail, the patience in your voice when narrating and of course your awesome skills. It’s very calming and therapeutic watching you transform these old pieces of timber into something of beauty. Very inspirational - thank you.
Great design, executed with your usual precision. I love the thought of re-using wood that is most likely to end up being burnt for something useful instead. This year I made a greenhouse bench for a mate out of the base of the old shed he gave me for fire wood.
Thank you for sharing this build Vic. I always enjoy your videos and appreciate the editing work you do to make it fun and interesting for us. Peace out! Rich
That definitely looked like some tough old wood. The finished result though looks great and the extra 10mm lost on the side due to stupid jigsaws won’t be missed. 😊😊
So so good! I thought greybox would be more grey, not that glorious gold. Is that in your place of for a client of sorts? PS - I was trying to place the music then it hit me. It's also Steve Ramsay's choice for "The Woodworking Talkshow" podcast. 😉
Great job mate, that reclaimed hardwood is just fantastic, a beaut colour, always drool when I see you use that dowel max, damn that thing is good such precise joints, the cheaper things I have are pure shite in comparison 👌👌👌👍👍👍
Very nice. I noticed you had tape first time you were doing the leg glueing but none the second time so can I assume it wasn't needed and the cloth was fine? Thanks for the video.
Thanks mate. The missing tape was probably a bit of laziness on my part but saying that , large joints like those are easily cleaned up with a wet cloth.
No, the boards that are laminated together have the grain running in the same direction so if there is any movement, they will both move in the same direction.
Hey Victor - Even though I've been a subscriber (with notifications turned on) for a few years now, I have not been receiving notifications of your videos. It was only because I was going through my subs that I found this out - Just letting you know - Joe
Thanks for that Joe, its good to know. I don't know anything about how the black magic of TH-cam works so all i can suggest is to make sure you have selected the bell icon to get notified. Thanks again mate
Hi Vic, table is awesome, well done. Just a heads up went to starboard put in your code not valid? Also tried to find Australia for shipping quote and I couldn't find it.
Mate I have no experience with the Sherwood jointer so can’t really comment but I pretty sure the two machines are very similar if not the same. I was happy to go with either machine, it’s just that Carbatec gave me a much better deal.
Yes mate, I aligned the base to the top while it was all upside down and marked through the holes in the base to the underside of the top. I just rewatched the video and saw that I didn’t include that in the video. An oversight on my part.
Hey Victor. Another great build. just wondering about your spray gun. I've been thinking about getting one as i don't have the space for a compressor. How do you find yours? I've heard mixed views about them for detailed spraying. I'd appreciate any comments you might have
Very nice work! I think I would have used the more characterful underside of the table for the top personally, but that would not suit everyones taste/style.
Another great project, I’ve wanted to make something similar for the last few weeks, I have that much hardwood, no idea what it is but it’s hard ( very ) my problem is I have the same thickness planer with the same cutting blades, it just won’t push it though, no matter what depth I set it too. No trouble with all other wood types, I will think of another way just seeing your video as got my brain ticking over again!. After Christmas now having hip replacement next week, thanks again for your great work. All the best for Christmas, Peter from Gosford

Thank you very much Glen, great feedback and i'm glad you enjoyed it
Watching you build something like this with no fuss or drama is a real joy. You always make it look so easy and the results .............wow!
Thank you very much, really appreciate your comments
That is a thing of beauty Victor! That wood started off as old, tough and almost forgotten and you made it into an outstanding piece of furniture that is timeless!
Thank you very much Juliet. The timber in this one will certainly stand the test of time.
A magnificent Table mate, poetry in motion watching you make it. See you on Saturday mate 👍👍👍
Thank you kindly mate, glad you enjoyed it. See you soon.
Well done, Vic. Great job.
Thank you Ivan

Very nice Vic. Never heard of that wood. Definitely not found in the West. Yep, I wear my gloves when handling rough hardwood's 😊. I take it, like me, you are not allowed to wear your boots indoors 😉
No, no boots inside mate. I think it must be an eastern timber because someone else from the west said the same. Thanks very much Peter
Nice! I always learn something watching your videos. Great idea using the bolt and nut. Table came out awesome. Thanks Vic!
Thanks very much Mark, and glad it was helpful in some way

haha, glad you enjoyed that mate. Thanks Jesper
Well done! I appreciate how this is a pretty straightforward construction with minimal fuss. No need for super fancy tools. Turned out beautifully!
Thank you very much
I like this table because it's simple and even with the simplicity, it looks stunning.
Great video mate 👍🏽 👌 🏅
thanks very much Ian
Hi Vic, There is nothing like the look of hardwood is there ? As usual , you make a very good video. Congratulations
So true Phil. Thank you mate
Just rewatched this video - really thinking about doing something similar with some old oak from the 1700's
Wow mate., that sounds awesome. Hope you do and film it as well
That jigsaw of yours wasn't going to stop the great end result. My jigsaw does the same thing, it's my most hated tool 😂
Yeah its one I've had for a while but hardly use. I'll probably use it even less after that. Thanks mate
Lovely job as usual, I liked the simple yet functional dado base. Super strong, will never move yet very straightforward to execute.

Good stuff mate, I like your riving knife on your table saw, that was a great idea
Its simple and effective. Thanks very much mate.
Lovely work. That table will be almost indestructible. Australian Hardwood, tough and durable as 🇦🇺👴🏻
So true Mark, its definitely a solid piece. Thanks mate
Awesome job young man :)
Thank you very much Len
Great build sir, was vey enjoyable to watch. Cheers!
Thank you Harki, glad you enjoyed it.

Nice N chunky, N good looking timber too boot.
Love it, excellent build, mate.👍🏽
It is mate. Thank you very much Bill 👍
Great job.Take care... .
Thanks mate, you too
Nice one Vic. Good to see a job make use of some old bits and them not end up on the barbie. Grey box is new to me. Well done, Stewart, south west WA.
Thanks very much Stewart and i agree mate. I love using old reclaimed hardwoods👍
Absolutely stunning Vic, beautiful old timber that has a new life and CAD!!! I often use your version of CAD 😂😂😂 Love your work mate 👍
Haha, thanks mate. I think its the best type of CAD. @Laura Kampf is a fan of cardboard design too so it must be legit 😂
This is just beautiful! 😍😍 I don't know if I will ever have the skills or the tools to make this but watching you work is so soothing 🤗.

As perfect as usual 👍👏👏 You are the most patient and most tender to timber ww master 😇
Thank you very much

Thank you very much Rich, glad it came across well
gppd job well done.

Beautiful job 👏
Thank you very much
You're too good at this game mate 👍 Beautiful table, workmanship, _and_ in the editing studio, great job all round! 👍👍
And you’re too kind mate, but I’ll take it 😂. Thanks very much Mario.
Love your work Victor I always seem to pick up a tip or two along the way. Hope you and your family have a good Christmas. Steve Tas.
Thank you very much Steve, nice to know I help a little. Merry Christmas to you guys too
Love your work going to try this
Thanks very much mate
2:20 Really good tip 👍🏻
Thank you. Thanks for watching and commenting
That definitely looked like some tough old wood. The finished result though looks great and the extra 10mm lost on the side due to stupid jigsaws won’t be missed. 😊😊
Haha, stupid jigsaws alright. Yeah , no real loss in the end , just annoying. Thanks David

Nice job mate, looks great. Would never judge you for wearing gloves, I learnt that the hard way few months back with some old fence posts.
Thanks Joe, lesson learnt the hard way mate 👍
Espetacular!!!
Parabéns.
Thank you very much
Great job mate, that reclaimed hardwood is just fantastic, a beaut colour, always drool when I see you use that dowel max, damn that thing is good such precise joints, the cheaper things I have are pure shite in comparison 👌👌👌👍👍👍
Thank you Graham. Yes the Dowelmax is a great tool
Hi. Were you not concerned about expansion of the table top? You seemed to have screwed the top directly to the base without allowing for this.
I probably didn't show it well in the video but the holes in the base are oversized for the screws.
Nice!👌
Thank you neighbour 👍
Yep, old eucalyptus is really bad for splinters. Recycled stuff seems to have splinters that get infected. Really like the table!
Thanks Scott. Yes we know all too well about those splinters
Real quality furniture. You won't find that at fantastic furniture.
Haha, no way mate. Thanks very much Robert
Sir your great superb 👍👍👍
Thank you very much, so are you
That’s a beautiful piece mate, easy $1100 table if you were to sell it. Weight must be up there with the world’s most awesome coffee table...
Haha, can never forget the worlds most awesome coffee table. This one is in good company then. Thanks mate
the glue in the dead horse bottle confirms your "down under" status :D
Haha, thanks mate 👍🏼
Good
Thank you Chakir
How much would something like this sell for? Beautiful craftsmanship by the way, nice work!
Thank you very much mate. I would only be guessing because I don’t sell anything I make but I would say about $1500 🤷🏻♂️
Man you get a real kick out of that dowelling jig :)
Love the table top too.
Thank you Oh and yes i do love the Dowelmax
Should your bearers not have slotted holes to allow the top to expand/contract
yes and it was something i forgot to mention in the video. the holes in the base are oversized for the screws i used
Très joli travail
Thank you Michel
Super 👌
Thank you
When you laminate, the baseboards together is my understanding that the wood will split because it has no movement is that true?
No, the boards that are laminated together have the grain running in the same direction so if there is any movement, they will both move in the same direction.

How did you line up the insert holes with the top? Did you drill through the post and then into bottom of top
Yes mate, I aligned the base to the top while it was all upside down and marked through the holes in the base to the underside of the top. I just rewatched the video and saw that I didn’t include that in the video. An oversight on my part.
That's about my skill level with CAD too 😁😁😁
Haha, I hear you mate
Beautiful! Although, I kinda liked the underside if the table for the top it had lots of character and would have been just as nice.
I agree Ken but this table was specifically requested by my wife so she got to pick. Thanks mate
This exactly the style I am building. What was the wood?
It’s a very hard and dense reclaimed Aussie hardwood. I don’t know the exact species but it could be grey box
Another great project. The finish table speaks for itself. Thanks for sharing Vic 👍

Hi mate, the legs are straight up and down.
do you have any plans?
Sorry mate, I don’t. Pretty much everything I make comes straight out of my head
