Not like an epoxy. It’s an oil. The second part is an accelerator. The oil can be used by itself but will take something like 30 days to cure. With the accelerator it cures in a couple of days.

Do you cut grooves in your dowels? I recently started making my own dowels and made a jig to cut grooves but I’m not sure they need it. I thought it make for a good glue surface, but I’m very interested in your thoughts! Thanks and great build video!!!👍🏻 Also, great back story about the wood. I love making projects out of reclaimed wood.
I don’t. And I think for shorter dowels that’s worked fine for me. I have had issues driving longer dowels all the way and I think grooves would fix it. However. If the dowel is going to be visible like when I pin my half lap legs not sure how it would look with grooves in it. So, for hidden dowels I think grooves would be good, for visible dowels no. And that’s cool! I’ve been wanting to make my own dowels but haven’t yet. Did you buy a jig or make one?

I found a TH-cam video about those jigs and decided to make them. The dowels I get out of the jig are spot on. I can make 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2”. I’m a hobbyist so I can afford the time to make them. If I was in a commercial shop like yours I would definitely buy them. Thanks again for your feedback. Steve
