    Nice job... splined mitres might have been the go for those corners but hey! Your Design!!!
    I must have missed how you attached the handles... did you screw right up through the steel tube into the handle parts from the tray???
    Doesn't seem much for them to grip onto if that's how you did it. Not an issue for light roads of course! 🙂Sealing the bottom with urethane (poly whatever) is a brilliant idea. Love that beeswax!!!

      Thanks. Yes i did and they seemed just fine. haven't had any issues reported back to me with the handles. to tell the truth, if the trays were loaded so heavy that the handles failed then they're not really using the tray as intended.

    Great job as usual Victor, but I need to know where you got your thicknesser. You went from 11mm to 15mm. (2:27) I can really use a thicknesser that makes boards thicker. 🤣 The serving trays turned out fantastic though. Hope you have an awesome new year. Cheers mate. 👍🍺

    Nice trays but I'd be a little concerned about wood movement since those bottoms are a solid panel and somewhat wide. Since the video is about a year old, I was just wondering if the recipients have told you of any cracks happening?

    • @DownUnderWoodWorks
      @DownUnderWoodWorks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, the trays are doing great. I’ve just replied to comment on another one of my videos. I haven’t had any issues with any of my projects regarding wood movement. I think it may be our climate here in Australia because most of the fear mongering about wood movement seems to come out of the US and Canada 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @geoffcapper5025
    @geoffcapper5025 ปีที่แล้ว

    A bit late to the party, but great build, they turned out wonderfully! I've had similar glue staining on bits of Tassie oak, but only on some bits, it couldn't be consistent of course. Seems to me like the glue is pulling something out of the wood. Hope you didn't throw the potentially-innocent clamp away. 😂

    • @DownUnderWoodWorks
      @DownUnderWoodWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries Geoff. I think it was rubber off the clamp pad. Must have reacted with the glue. It was all good in the end though because so much of what we do is problem solving.

  • @jonathaneglinton5378
    @jonathaneglinton5378 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the end framing pieces glued on, don't you run the risk of cracking when the tray needs to expand and contract?

    • @DownUnderWoodWorks
      @DownUnderWoodWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically that is a possibility Jonathon but I've made quite a few pieces where expansion and contraction have not been an issue. i think it might be our climate here in Australia and also when items live inside the house they're not subjected to weather extremes.
