    This is something that should be discussed in schools as much as drugs. This could have easily been me back in my high school days.. So incredibly sorry for this loss. Born in 89 as well. Condolences to the family. 💔

      Agree because most teenagers/ young adults don't know what to look out for, meaning red flags, until it's too late.
      I for one am going to teach my daughters all the red flags. But even then it could still happen to them 😭

    • @desiagriffin9689
      @desiagriffin9689 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually got a decent amount of exposure on the most basic versions of domestic violence in relationships. It was mostly centered around physical abuse though and the most obvious signs. I don’t think anyone realized at the time that most of these demons hide in plain sight and pretend to be normal for even years avoiding trauma of their own. Then there’s the normalization of love bombing in society and the literal manipulation that happens. & then on top of all this, being aware of these types people of doesn’t take away lack of confidence/low self-esteem, abandonment and mental issues, and never experiencing real love of your own can warp your reality on what it’s supposed to be or leaving you naive because you don’t know what it is.

    • @desiagriffin9689
      @desiagriffin9689 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The best way to prevent these types of relationships is to continue to always chose love, compassion, and patience over everything and LOVING YOURSELF. As a parent, POUR love into your children and build them up! Let them know you love them just because they’re alive and yours! Don’t hit your kids and then especially don’t tell them you do so because you “love them”. Don’t tease or make them feel less than. Heal your trauma before having kids if you can and if you can’t it’s never too late to try! It’s going to be especially unpleasant as an adult, but it’s worth it. When you love yourself, you’ll love your kids correctly and won’t ever force them to watch someone abuse you, resulting in confusion about loving relationships as a kid. And as a human being with no children and possible trauma, work on it! Let that HURT in and let it completely destroy you and then build yourself back up! Sounds cliche, but focus on you and being the best version of yourself! Nobody can break you if you’re strong mentally and if you can accept and love every part of yourself, including parts you may not like or regret, no one can make you feel less than. My biggest regret is not choosing me more because I never loved myself enough.

      Absolutely!! I don’t if they do health classes like they did when I was in school but they could add it onto there. While they are at it they can talk to younger kids about safe relationships so that they can be more likely to see the red flags. Abuse is unfortunately not only just from our partners. It can be from our parents or other family members and even people we chose as friends. The younger we give people the red flags to look out for the sooner they are likely to see the dangers in others and possibly even themselves.

    My heart goes out to Tiffany’s family , I hope her father knows we don’t all view these as entertainment but rather a way to memorialize those whose lives were taken from them , some signs and situations to avoid that help us to stay vigilante and to be safe and help others where we can , may Tiffany rest well and her killer stay where he belongs indefinitely

      Very well said. I couldn't have explained it better. I often share these stories with my 25 y/o daughter, who is in medical school far away, so she can see how easy it is to become a victim of violence in various forms. She only sees the devastation at the end...in the hospital fighting to live. But clueless as to how it easily begins. 😒😮‍💨

    My goodness, Tiffany’s Dad fought hard to get custody of her, I applaud that. 👏👏👏He clearly loves his children. My oldest Son was born in 1989 and Tiffany being the same age just crushes me. Thank goodness the 911 call was recorded. Todd’s own Mother was staying at a Hotel because he was violent!!! She has some nerve to lie on the stand. Sending love to Tiffany’s family! ❤( And, NO he doesn’t deserve a new trial and YES, life with no parole is fitting)

    I’m 17 minutes in and this is deeply personal. The physical abuse, the isolation, the complete control over my life, the utter disregard for my life that both he and his family held, the hysteria I felt when he would drag me by my hair outside, insisting I leave bc he didn’t want me anymore. I would beg him to let me stay. I’d end up apologizing and looking back, I know now that I hadn’t done anything wrong. An off duty police officer witnessed violence in our front yard and called police for a wellness check. Police convinced me to leave after 4 years of abuse in every sense of the word. Leaving was the scariest thing I have ever done. I was worried what he would do when he found out there was a protective order. I’m so grateful for the women’s shelter and the advocates in the legal system that helped me through this. A year removed, I have since started the process of healing. My heart breaks for Tiffany and her family. 😢

    You did such a wonderful job telling this story. It kinda broke my heart a bit when Tiffany’s father wondered why you wanted to cover her story. PLEASE, sir, know what Tiffany’s story WILL help others who think their abusers love them. Especially young women who think they don’t have options or that they can’t do better. Young love blinds girls to other, better, amazing partners. I was once a stupid girl thinking that that was how love was. She was a beautiful woman! Thank you for sharing her story with us! God Bless her and all of you who love her. Rest In Beautiful Peace, Tiffany.

    Of course we care about Tiffany and what happened to her. I see a lot of parallels between what Tiffany went through and my own relationship as a young adult. My older sister as well went through almost the exact same situation as Tiffany. She was so so lucky that she was able to get away from that man mostly unharmed but it was a long break up process because that was the only way for her to get out alive. I'm so sorry to Tiffany and her family. She deserved a long and normal life. Some men are just disgusting.

    This hurts my heart for her Daddy❤. No, Todd does not deserve a second trial. He got what he deserves on the first one. He murdered Tiffany. Provoked or not. Even if they were fighting, even if she scratched him/choked him, she was five foot nothing. (Not saying she was mind you!!!) All he had to do was turn and walk away. I've raised two boys. They would never hurt a woman. It just isn't right. Turn and walk away. God Bless Tiffany, Bonnie and her family. I'm so sorry.

    Sending my love to Tiffany's family and loved ones. I truly cannot even begin to fathom their heartache. I do believe he has the right to his 5 minutes alone with Todd. I think everyone should be granted that. I was in an abusive marriage. It does sound like Tiffany wanted to leave since she was wanting to get together with her loved ones. I believe that Todd being sentenced to life without parole was justice. The death penalty would be even better, in my opinion. No, he shouldn't have been granted another trial. It was clear from the autopsy that he had been abusing her for quite some time. Justice was served! ❤

    This breaks my heart. I was there and got out. I wish I could share what I learned in a meaningful way with others in this position to get them to safety. And even then...there's a strong chance they wouldn't make it out completely with their lives. It shouldn't be up to the person being abused to speak out to bring some sort of retribution to the abuser. We all know that these victims are so beaten down and brain washed they can't defend themselves. If police are called to a domestic disturbance where violence has occurred, there should be a no contact between the parties (maybe for life). Maybe it would help. Maybe it wouldn't. But there has to be a solution.
    Prayers for this heartbroken family for peace. She was a beautiful young woman and deserved so much better than this.

    I am SO glad that you covered this case & gave Tiffany another voice. What a beautiful, bright & amazing young lady who did not deserve one minute of abuse, let alone to be murdered. My heart breaks for her loved ones. I do not condone violence, however I understand her father wanting to take his own justice. My mind can't comprehend the emotional torment they went through and still go through. I hope for peace.

    That Todd needs to be right where he is and I hope other inmate inflict the same and then some on him daily 😡
    I went through this for 4 years. Broken ribs, black eyes, broken nose but most of all...broken spirit. I didn't want to stay but was too afraid to leave. I won't even go into the hell I endured but when I became pregnant, I knew I had to plan an escape. I snuck out and moved to a different state. Only went back for court hearings. He has never seen my son who is now 30. I'm 48, happily married, 3 adult children, my son's dad is still in prison serving a 65-year sentence, and I'm still in therapy. Please everyone, DV is real, it happens slowly so that makes it worse, and it should be discussed more often so the Tiffanys out there can at least walk away alive😢
    Thank you for covering her story. ❤

    My heart is just broken for Tiffany and her family 💔 She did not, for one second, deserve what happened to her. Let alone years of this terrible abuse. & it may be an unpopular opinion but I believe that his mother should have been held responsible to some degree. She allowed this to go on for years without doing anything about it. How could she just sit and do nothing while this girl was beaten and abused? Prayers for her family & everyone who loved her. ❤😢

    A woman was horrifically murdered just down the road from me. She was stabbed over 100 times. She was only 27 and a mother but some of the local comments made me sick. Saying thing like "she was only a cra*khead"
    It's so sad how some people put such little value on a human life. Judging someone's worth as a victim.

    That is absolutely heartbreaking! My deepest condolences to her family. ❤ I am now 16 days free from a dv situation. I pray for all of those who are still in that type of situation. It is not always easy to get out. You can't always just walk out, and everything is good. It gets scary. Thank you for sharing her case. I wish there was more help and more solutions for victims. For me, there were several times police didn't take things seriously. On one occasion, they were on my abusers side and said, "If he was so bad, then you'd leave. It's that simple. You're still here, so obviously, things are not as bad as you claim." In NC, when I tried to get help from a woman's shelter, they said they only help if I have either been hospitalized by him or had treatment in the er for severe injury. 😒 They wait until things reach these horrific levels. I think Todd got the sentence he deserves. Life without ever getting out.

    Honestly... Both as a victim of domestic violence but also just as a logical and compassionate human.... To me- the argument of "why didn't they just leave" is literally the most ignorant, uneducated, ridiculous, and flat out morally despicable argument! Why didnt she just leave... On top of the plethora of reasons people that say this have clearly never spent 2 seconds to ponder...her leaving being the absolute most dangerous possible point of that relationship is a HUGE reason she might not leave, or might leave and then go back many times before a final break... Her knowing what he's capable of, taking his threats seriously, and thinking she has no way to stop him (because he won't get any real time until it's too late for her and she knows a piece of paper telling him "no" won't do a damn thing to actually stop him) she does the only thing she thinks she can and sacrifices herself- to protect her kids, maybe her family, heck sometimes just to protect the next woman he might meet. There's story after story and each of those stories are so utterly precious, yet so heartbreakingly similar. It's truly a travesty that we as humans can have such a vast number of stories all giving essentially the same data yet still we haven't found a way to effect true change, or to learn new interventions. That's not to say that cops and the Justice system haven't made very big strides.... Because truly they have. But the gap is still just.... Massive. I know I based what I said with a female victim/male abuser terminology, but of course women are and can be abusers as well. And along with saying that, of course men can be victims- and sadly, they are often far more silent due to the attached stigma which sadly causes them more/further trauma/abuse. It's just all.... So so sad

    When I hear these DV stories I’m very thankful to have made it out and to be alive. I didn’t date an abuser but was born from one. Every day was fear. We tried to leave so many times and I’ll never forget being a little kid sitting in the car with my brothers waiting for my mom to come out to leave with us and worrying he would unalive her before she made it to the car like he threatened. The screams have left me such such a deep trauma response that I can’t handle loud noises or men raising their voice. My brother speaks loudly without noticing sometimes and often times I physically cringe and put my arms around my body, hugging myself and crunching over like I’m trying to hide into myself as I tell him to please lower his voice bc it triggers me so bad.and I never ever blamed my mom for not leaving sooner. You have no idea how it is until it happens to you. Us kids lied for him and said he wasn’t abusive when my grandparents would ask. My grandma is still so upset that we lied to her as kids and didn’t tell her. We didn’t want him to go to jail even tho we hated him and loved our mom and wanted to protect her.

    Domestic violence stories are always the same and these assholes get away with it until it's too late. I don't think any of this is an accident or Tiffany initiated anything. He's trying to blame Tiffany for her own death rather than admit that he is a controlling abusive monster. I've been in a relationship where I was controlled (fortunately never physically abused) but it's so miserable and you feel so helpless to get out. My condolences for the family ❤

    I really hope you see this 😩 my mother was murdered in 2008. The man that killed her served 3 years in COUNTY JAIL for it and that’s all. That’s it. I have so many questions and no one to ask because NO ONE WILL TELL ME! Idk what they got going on but the sketchiness is UNREAL please get in touch 😭

      His name is Chadwick David Hudson. Her name was Carmen Dana Swindle. It was 1/17/08 in Tuscaloosa County Alabama. She was the county’s first homicide that year. Two men dropped her off at his trailer, and god knows what TRULY happened other than him calling his mother to tell her that he had a dead woman in his house

    • @faithswindle7778
      @faithswindle7778 ปีที่แล้ว

      She called 911, he was arrested immediately, since it was NOT his first rodeo. She had been strangled. He sat in county for 3 years, took a plea bargain and got an eight split three. He was released that day.
      With 15 years probation.

    • @faithswindle7778
      @faithswindle7778 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But since he has repeatedly and continuously violated that probation, drunk driving, not reporting, hitting entire parking lot full of parked cars, still hasn’t been to prison as far as I know. I can’t find anything about his sentencing or his agreement or his statement. No one in the Tuscaloosa county sheriffs office will help me either.

    Todd is lying like a rig that grace was for Tiffany. Hopefully he stays in jail forever. Abs man when Bonnie talked about her kids playing with the necklace she has of her sisters ashes i damn near lost it. I lost my Mom when I was 17 and my Dad when I was 28 years old. My kiddo and all my niece’s and nephews never met my Mom and only 6 of the 13 kids met my Dad. 2 of them were under 2 years old so though they have pictures they have no memory. But before my house burned down a few months ago I used to have two glass blown necklaces each one had one of my parents ashes in them and I always got the same feeling whenever any of the kids grab it or ask me about it. ❤️ Sending all my love
