This is exactly why its so important that women have a sense of self apart from their marriage and their family. She poured every ounce of her being into her marriage, and when that marriage ended in betrayal, she didnt know how to cope and lost her everloving mind.

Most of the time I’ve noticed that behind every “crazy” woman is a pos, gaslighting man. Still, using the kids and taking their father away from them forever is inexcusable.

She’s wrong for what she did but I can totally understand why she did what she did….
Unfortunately not everyone can get over betrayal of that scale, ever action has a reaction. Would have been good if she could overcome the loss of the life that she’d contributed to but Betty had another solution in mind

i agree that she was wrong for what she did - doesn't mean I understand it and i thank God I don't. I don't "totally understand" a sick woman who wasn't driven crazy by anybody except her own demons that told her murder was the solution.

I get it. I really get it. I feel for Betty. It's NOT excusable to murder anyone for hurting you. But I get losing your mind over your husband over ALL those years... Especially when you ARE a HUGE reason he's as successful as he was! Betty did that. I'm not one to say a man's actions are why a woman does crazy shit. Yet, in THIS very specific situation, Dan used his wife to build a career, then trades her in for a younger model, essentially leaving while he goes and lives it up. I buy temporary insanity. I think I'd go insane, too.

    • @VioletJoy

Actually, Brittany left out half of the story. She left out the part where nearly every one of Betty's claims were false. There was zero evidence that her husband did anything besides have the affair. She was extremely abusive to him and the children. Think Amber Heard, but worse.

@@haintedhouse2990Baloney Linda was a straight up whore! She got fired from being flight attendant for having sex with a passenger in the bathroom and had sex with her X before the wedding and after the wedding to Dan! She helped Betty’s underage daughter get an abortion without the parents knowing! She terrorized Betty with hang up calls, sending weight loss brochures to Betty’s home! Dan was a horrible drunk that lied and beat a dog! Both him and Linda were Trying to drive Betty to suicide and there was even evidence that Dan tried to hire a hit man to kill Betty but of course Dans buddy judge wouldn’t let it in! The way Dan and Linda slept around they surely would have spread disease and probably aids! Not to mention how many marriages and relationships they would have ruined! Betty basically was forced into self defense! They both got what they deserved! Those 2 aren’t even buried together bet you didn’t even know that and the reason is Linda’s gold digger family! Did you know Linda’s name at the office was Linda Vagina because she stunk so bad! These are all documented facts!

I don't get it. The idea that someone would kill another person out of a sense of deep betrayal seems like a myth to me. A response to betrayal might be feelings of rage. You might imagine attacking them in your mind. I think that's a way of trying to push them out of your mind. Obliterate them and the memory of them. But to actually plot out a murder? Anyone who does that knows what that makes them. It makes them the villain and their tormentor the victim. Even worse, it turns everyone who loved them into your victims. I think people who use this defense are lying.

I've always been more of on Betty's "side". And after finding myself in a extremely close similar position to her ( 2 huge differences 1, I was married for 31 years and 2, he's alive and so is his mistress) I was utterly horrible devastated for a rather long time. But my life ( being free to do me, something I haven't been able to since 16 when I met my x husband he was 24) I get my 3 g-babies on the weekends ( my oldest 9 she's sleeping right next to me rn 🥰, even tho they have their own bedrooms at my house, she chooses to share my room.) I couldn't harm my kids or g-babies for anyone or anything. Being in prison would take me away from them and that's a form of harm to them and myself. Although I can understand the torment and the snap of some people. Stop and breathe think of those you love.

Editing to add- I know that what she did was wrong & murder is never ever the answer. But I do kinda feel for her cause she stuck by his side & supported him through years & years & years of school 🫠 All for him to turn around & start banging someone younger & more fit than her!?! She should’ve just taken him to the cleaners & lived happily ever after on the alimony he was paying her. Now she’s in prison & her kids are without parents. Horrible!

I read the book “Until the Twelfth of Never”, the complete Betty story. Betty was mentally unstable and needed help ASAP. But Dan was evil and I have read that the only surprise in this story is what took her so long. Dan knew she was unstable but chose to gaslight her and drive her mad. She committed murder but with extenuating circumstances.

One thing I notice about Betty throughout all the stuff I have read, is that she wanted to retreat from the world instead of go out and engage it. Moving on would have meant basically reaching out and engaging the wider world and accepting that she had to start making decisions for herself. Instead she retreated inside her own narrative and wouldn't let go even after she lost everything. She wanted Dan to take care of her for life, but she would not grow and mature beyond her old self.

I think a lot was learned from this case at the very least. All around, they all could have and should have handled the break up better. They did not deserve to die, but divorce for a woman like Betty at this time in the very recent past, was so much more daunting than it is today. They treated her terribly, Dan especially. But no one involved handled any of this well. I feel terrible for all of them. I tried watching the show they did on this with Christian Slater. Could not finish it. That’s rare for me. They all deserved better than what happened to them.

If she was smart she would’ve used some of that money that she was well taken care of with to get a lawyer to sue him for emotional damages etc and got to keep the kids instead of making the wrong decision after wrong decision after wrong decision TWO WRONGS DONT MAKE A RIGHT so she belong where she is that’s just that, she had it made tho she had a house still and money incoming she was just jealous and angry she needed a therapist tbh to work through her grief but no she decided to be pre meditative and bring a gun she got excessively worse each time she basically harassed and or assaulted or caused damages so no if she were a man they would’ve hung her out to dry worse than she was so I believe 32 years is also a little low for double homicide

They need to free Betty! I remember her interview with Oprah. If any one of us were financially supporting a man through school TWICE and he did this to us, I can’t say what I would have done. Also, you have to think about Betty’s upbringing. Everything she had worked for was gone. Dan was not an Angel! Betty should have got the house and even MORE alimony. Dan was a control freak and decided what she would get. He sold the house to make Betty mad. Betty wouldn’t have gotten more in court because all the Judges knew Dan. The good old boy system. They were ALL wrong, nobody deserved to die but, Betty has done her time! Let her out. I feel bad for the kids though. ❤

    Zero sum game.

Honestly 32 years is too long but they should have deducted the years she wasted devoted and married to that POS that drove her to murder from her sentence. They knew exactly what they were doing and he thought she was too meek to fight back. Guess he shouldn't have underestimated her! And I genuinely feel the same if you swap the genders, you can only push someone so far before they snap back. This was the ultimate FAFO and unfortunately they did. I'm only sad for the kids though tbh.

you can't instill homicidal violence into someone (with the exception of self-defense) the capacity to murder is either in you or it's not. nobody drove BBroderick to snap - she had planned double homicide for 5 years, even took a refresher course in firearms training - she had plenty of chances to move forward with her life but she chose murder, prison and leaving her kids without parents. i don't feel bad for her at all.

Yes! She absolutely is 100% legally responsible for their murders. While I don’t agree with Dan’s and Linda’s behaviors, Betty had no right to do what she did. Marriages end all the time. People have affairs (NOT condoning that, it’s inexcusable), which often end marriages. She would not, or could not, let it go. Regardless, her behavior also inexcusable. No one deserves to die due to an affair or a marriage ending. No matter what you did or didn’t do for that spouse. I don’t feel bad for her at all… she made her choices. I feel bad for the kids.

Yes, she got a just sentence. There is sooooo. Cub more to this story. Dan was a belly crawling scum. But. Entry was no angel. She used her kids as emotional pawns to get them to hate their father, left horrific messages for the kids and was abusive to the, on an emotional level. Still not excusing the behavior of the father, again belly dragging scum, but she knew what she was doing when she pulled the trigger and then pulled the phone from the wall. It was a highly charged emotional act, but she was knew what she was doing was wrong from the moment she took the gun and drove to that home.

    First I love your videos.
I think she snapped. All those years of supporting him and his endeavors then to be treated like she was, would anger most people. The prime time movie on this showed Dan and Linda being cruel verbally. Did he just use her to get what he wanted then discard her when his goal was achieved? When a women is constantly thrown insults about her weight is degrading. I don’t think killing them was right, but I think she snapped. 39:48

i don't think she snapped. she had been planning to kill them for 5 years, told her friends she was gonna do it, took a refresher course in firearms training, purchased bullets that would do the most damage on impact, told her daughter "you know I had to do it, one of us had to die" she simply closed the book on her 5 year plan - no snapping. as far as being thrown insults Betty should've remembered addressing Dan as 'asshole' and 'faggot' in front of friends and co-workers years before Linda came around. Betty could really dish it out but always played the victim when it was time for paybacks

Of course she is where she needs to be. She won’t take responsibility for her actions. She killed 2 people! 2 people who were very deserving of some sort of punishment but murdered? No! I thought they were shitty parents as soon as you brought up the fact that they fought in front of the kids. I hate hearing about this kind of behavior!

I've known about this case probably since it first happened, I've seen the movies and read the books and I'm still so conflicted. Although it's absolutely not okay in any fashion to murder anyone. I do believe that Dan treated Betty atrociously and you know Linda worked for Dan so obviously she knew he was married and chose to enter into an affair with him anyway and also knowing there were children involved. I'm a big believer in a man having respect for the mother of his children and sadly it didn't seem like Dan had respect for Betty at all. By the same token Betty's behavior towards Dan wasn't acceptable at all and I don't think either one of them cares or took into consideration how all of the fighting was affecting their children. In the end I don't think Betty will ever get out of prison because she still refuses to admit that what she did was wrong which clearly it was because no matter how bad someone treats you you can't take their lives. This is me reminding you that I'd like to see you cover the case of Lindsay Buziak and also the case of Kay Parsons.

I do NOT condone what she did, not at all, but I do understand her. And yes, I do believe she´s legally responsible for her actions. I´ve watched the movie about this case, which is avaliable here on youtube. Great acting of all the actors btw. Have a great weekend favorite Brittney and fellow Brat-packers. Stay safe this weekend. See you all again monday.

How much more fun it would have been to sabotage them in a million tiny ways over her lifetime rather than sit in prison. There is so much you can do, hands off, to slowly ruin someone while acting sweet. A simple search turns up a wealth of creative, legal ideas to keep you happy and them miserable. I better go pray for forgiveness for my vindictive heart.

I'm not ok with what she did. That being said it's playing with fire to use a woman for everything she has her youth, her fertility and then so callously throw her away for a younger woman after she was your partner and helped build you up. Linda should have respected that he was married and that's all I'm going to say about her.

While what happened to Betty is very sad, dirty even, it didn't give her the right to end lives. It's sad she still doesn't understand that.
