Imperial armored units were a mirror of the navy. To much emphasis on vehicles that did little more than impose fear. Which meant when they were taken down they inspired just as much... hope.

A Ball turret mounted on the back of a walker so it could also fire forwards might have some use - or just simply put a turret on the top (if that would still fit in a transporter dropship) - I don't think Ion Cannons shell things though - also they only work on ungrounded targets and air vehicles. a bunker would be grounded and the most an ion shot would do is blind it's external cameras.
This is why I question the reasons you decided to be on the Empire's side. It heavily relied far too much on fear and power, barely any benefits that outweighs the negatives, and I'm quite sure that even if Palpatine took the Yuuzang Vong seriously, the military might would have been either too cocky or too stupid to fight off even a raiding sortie, both on planet and in space.
I personally would've rallied either a third faction to put both sides in their proper places or put support on the Alliance (When I say support, and I mean what the U.S did for England during WWII before Pearl Harbor)
thawn figured that the empire had the best chance at being a help as they were the main power and decendents of the republic. that does not mean that he approves of all of their grand stratagy that was implemented while he was in service. so far in rebels we see him trying to improve the focus of the imperial industrial machine to more practical means. this is see in the tie defender.

The super tank has extremely insane armor. I mean seriously, when Ahsoka used it to destroy the reactor of the separatist droid refinery, the thing probably didn't even suffer a dent even after the whole refiney fell on them.

I think the first 3 are basically interchangable. You have versitility with the juggernaught, Pure firepower with the M6, and ridiculous durability with the Separatist supertank. And then that poor little ion walker, if the main cannons are still as strong at a normal AT-AT then it has all the same weaknesses.
Tim Tom no the AT-IC has more as the main gun can't fire forwards and it has lost its troop carrying capacity. The AT-AT was a heavy assault vehicle not a pure tank.

I think there's something to be said about the CIS's super tank and it's smaller target area, as well as missiles that don't rely on line of sight as all the laser weapons do.
When the Supertank has been shown to do more impressive things than the M6, it shouldn't just be assumed that the M6 is better.
It would make more sense if the AT-IC has its ioncanon faced to the front, instead of towards the back. Imagine this thing protecting something and then being ordered to enter enemy territory, it would have to turn around once. Which could be annoying and takes time.

lancer737 the tie interceptor cant “rip giant chunks of armor” out of cap ships. It wasn’t built for that, and it simply, wasn’t powerful enough to do so. It’s purpose was to intercept enemy fighters and bombers, hence the name “TIE Interceptor”

the rebellion had the corvette. the republic had either the republic frigate or acclimator. the empire had the arquitens light cruiser. the CIS had possibly the munificent, cant remember if they had anything smaller

Firstly to start, I love this ranking series, very well done and well analyzed, however in regards to this video whilst I agree the juggernaut has clearly great advantages over the others, thus warranting it's ranking, it suffers from the same weakness of our own modern day ground vehicles, one which wasn't really addressed, and that being the issue with tank traps. *For those who don't know what tank traps are watch the beginning of saving Private Ryan; at Normandy those weird metal objects in the sand, those are a type of tank trap. Tank traps are 'relatively" easy to make and impede modern armored vehicles greatly. Yes the Empire's AT-AT is stupidly tall and thus unbalanced; that being said it's design allows it to simply "walk over" any reasonable tank trap. Thus its design, despite its set backs, results in a well shielded, troop carrying, and offensive capable armored vehicle not restricted by most normal tank traps. Thus limiting the options for ground defense against an Imperial assault.
Okay I have to say this, it really depends on how big a tank trap is and how strong it is. For the AT-AT, it is pretty easy to get it to trip from just a tow cable, or have a big trap that can’t be stepped on or over. Similar situation to the M6

In my opinion, the First Order had very good walkers. Their AT-M6s and AT-STs were all improved from the previous Empire models, and they did a good job doing it.

What kind of pure form are we talking about here? Stalker form? Ranged from? Tank form? Because they do vary greatly, and a pure form can be basically as big as it wants as long as it can gather enough biomass. But if we are talking about game flood, I'd give this to the genestealer

The Entity the juggernauts wheels are able to be destroyed with pinpoint accuracy so yeah the supertank could take it down. But it would still have tons of troops inside and lots of weapons as well. So yeah the juggernauts would still probably win.

You have to take out atleast 4 wheels on 1 side to make it not or barely driveable plus it can probably dodge the missiles easily if they aren't lock on missiles, also I'm pretty sure the supertank doesn't have a turret axis to turn on for their missiles to shoot in a different direction other than roughly forward maybe a bit bent so the supertank has to turn for the missiles to shoot in a other direction making it possible for the juggernaut to slip behind the supertank due to it's speed and making it possibly to find a weak spot if it even has one xd

Republic Supporter I would guess the New Republic treated the galaxy the best cause the Republic in the time of the Clone Wars had problems because of their war resources I remember one episode how Padmes serveant was effected negative by the war

I'd put the AT-M6 at first just because it probably has tougher armor and won't get as easily tripped by a freaking modified speeder.
I'd have to disagree, the AT-M6 has the same glaring flaws that the AT-AT had: it's slow, has limited mobility and it's massive with a distinct target profile that the enemy will be able to see from miles away. It's basically a giant walking target that any competent opponent will be able to outmaneuver and target from well outside the vehicles effective range.

If not being seen was a concern to them then all their troopers wouldn’t be wearing white armor. I think fear factor is very important to both factions as that is their main tool to keep control over their systems.

You should do a factions compared that involves the design philosophy of each faction and how well each faction implements their design philosophy.

The AAT is heavily underrated, most of people say it’s nonsense cuz of the laser cannons which only move to the top and bottom, but cuz it can turn very fast, in any directions it doesn’t matter, it spots an enemy, turns, fires and goes back, while the main cannon will be still locked on a target it’s aiming at, so it can literally just spin around while the turret is still aiming at the target,
Well the anit-personnel weapons could even penetrate At Te armor in some places, the main turret wasn’t used as anti vehicle weapon, but an artillery, it had artillery rounds, anti- infantry, anti-armored vechicle, even anti aircraft, to shoot down transporters or gunships which are slower and bigger than normal fighters, also they would be always protected by infantry to provide enemy getting on the top on it or getting inside somehow.
It also had missiles, and the main turret could also fire ion rounds, but sadly this type of artillery rounds only exist in legends, cuz in canon they’re obviously massive, but in legends we see some which are small, the size of average rounds, in fact imo it was the best tank of the clone wars, If on sides there would be turrets similar to which we see on Real Life Mark I tank for example from WW1. But like make them able to move to front, back, sides, top down, etc.
It would make it probably the most effective weapon in the clone wars. By the way, amazing video as always

Good breakdown. The Juggernaut is just all around fantastic. I am really looking forward to seeing more of the AT-M6 now as well. Given this is SW it has to have some weakness built in. my guess is that's gonna be the extra fuel tanks exposed on the back of the vehicle.

One of the major drawbacks of the AT-IC is that its main power is actually its weakness, the snow speeders which was so quick to manoeuvre would be able to take them out from behind and with its destruction it is likely the explosion would take out the entire tank simultaneously.

I think you often overlook the CIS's numerical advantage in these kind of match ups. That is the CIS's whole thing, you aren't facing one super tank, you are facing a platoon of them.

Perhaps consider doing a video comparing smaller ground vehicles like the AAT, imperial hover tank, AT RT, or other vehicles that size.

Though the AT-IC does look a bit silly, I really love the concept. To me, it makes a lot of sense to use walkers of that size as moble artillery pieces and anti-aircraft emplacements, especially if you improved their armor and gave them shielding. Though, admittedly, that does bring up the question of why you would ever need to use ground based artillery when you can just bombard targets from space...
That's a question with a pretty easy answer from an operational standpoint. Training with organic artillery elements is much easier to carry out, giving both commanders and forces being supported more familiarity. It also allows for independent separation and redeployment of a gun battery. It'd sure be a pain in the ass to lock your capital ship into geosynchronous orbit while trying to maintain a planetary blockade just because a surface operation needs, or potentially needs, the support of two or three artillery pieces, or having to recall a second bombardment-capable ship instead of just splitting an artillery battery in half for simultaneous operations in different theatres.
@@bradsimpson8724 That's a good point, though it still seems like there are problems with it in a universe where spaceships are relatively common. Being able to project power through ground based artillery is good, but isn't the artillery then highly at risk without a ship in orbit to prevent your enemy from using one of their ships to destroy your artillery emplacements from orbit? So you would still need to have orbital elements designated to them, although I guess one ship/squadron would probably be able to cover multiple gun batteries.
@@peterahl6807 Let's use a Star Wars example, since that's the basis of the bulk of this channel. We're Imperial commanders attached to a suppression force hunting Rebel elements on a planet(let's use Jedha and the Khyber recovery operations there as our theatre). We have a large area we suspect the rebels to be operating in. We aren't sure exactly when or where we're going to need our artillery, or even if we are definitely going to use it, and our capital ship is currently tied up carrying out a definitive ongoing mission. I expect we'd have better success requesting a pair of AT-ICs to augment our infantry units rather than trying to 1) call our Star Destroyer away from the primary operation, or 2) acquire a second Star Destroyer for fire support that we may or may not need. Additionally, those AT-ICs on the ground with us may be seen as a challenge that draws the rebels out into an engagement, or might go a long way to intimidating the locals and reminding them that we're in charge, in a visible way that an unseen ISD in low orbit doesn't allow for. And being a heavily-armoured walker, we're probably less worried about the vulnerability against an irregular militia force.
There's absolutely a time and place for orbital bombardments, but even if starships are relatively commonplace, there's always a use for the smaller assets on the ground.

I think an interesting comparison would be the standard issue blaster rifles for all six canon factions. So the DC-15A for the Republic, the E-5 for the Separatists, the E-11 for the Empire, the A280C for the Rebels, E-11D for the First Order, and EL-16 for the Resistance.

Agreed, is it just me or was all of the clone wars area vehicles, ships, armor, weapons and everything else was so much more practical then the Imperial area stuff.
Have you considered doing a comparison of scout vehicles such as the AT RT, the AT ST, the STAP and whatever the First Order had?

I've loved Star Wars ever since I first watched it but damn; your channel has given me SO much more to love. I never realised quite how extensive (and interesting) the extended universe was. Keep up the good work!
Also, if you don't mind me offering a video idea, 5 blasters that weren't rifles. Shotguns, arc casters, laser miniguns etc. I had a lot of fun with them in the original Battlefront games and I'm curious as to how they fit in with the universe.
I have the lego set of the juggernaut and when you just look at it, it looks unbeatable. Also online it says it is also called the clone turbo tank which I think is a slightly better name. I thinking you would either pick the clone turbo tank or the At-te walker as that is able to opporate and walk on a boulder in space and it has a large artillery cannon on it's back with many guns plastered over it.
I feel like this video could be even more interesting if you compared the factions vehicles rather than a singular vehicle. For example the AT-AT AT-TE and AT-IC for the empire, the juggernaut tank, AT-TE, and the AT-AP for example.
Kind of late to point this out, but don't forget that the Republic Juggernaut is able to be driven both ways, ie. both ends can serve as the the front of the tank. You can see this in the Clone Wars episode with Ahsoka being framed for murdering the terrorist in her cell where one of the tanks is being driven with it's smaller 'head' as the front, while two of the tanks were being driven with the stouter rear end leading the way during the Battle of Kashyyyk. This does prevent it from being stuck in a space that is too small for it to turn around in.
Love this series, but can you please start doing ones with other star wars factions such as SWTOR's sith empire and old republic.
