    Well I set out with the intention on really putting the 1290 through it's paces on curvy roads and rural gravel roads and I kind of accomplished the goal but not in any way I wanted to. The upside is, I now know how it handles on wet curvy roads and with a flat rear tire.

      Definitely worth it. Expensive yes but later down the road. Luckily I had a spare at the house and they didn't charge me a disposal or install fee. They said, didn't you get the bike yesterday😂. Hopefully this Dunlop Trailmax Mission Lasts a tad longer. At least till my break in is over.

    Gotta watch that slip adjust setting! Congrats on the new ride and bummer on the tire - all part of the adv!

      @BigDaveTALKS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, thing is I don’t have the tech pack and the only adjustment I have is On, or OFF. I put my spare on (Dunlop Trailmax Mission) and went riding the next weekend and had chunks missing. My wife said, what kind of roads are you riding on!? I simply told her, It’s not the roads I am riding, it’s HOW i am riding on them. I have ridden the Multistrada and Africa Twin on the same roads but they aren’t near as stable as this bike so I can simply push harder or have more fun😎. I love this machine.

      @@BigDaveTALKS Gotcha! I've got a deposit on a '23 890R but I'm beginning to think I might be happier on the 1290R - there's time to change up if I could only make up my mind!

    • @BigDaveTALKS
      @BigDaveTALKS  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey my buddy is looking at the 890 also. Personally it just depends on how much highway you have to ride before getting to the off road. My trip this year will be 1K miles of highway before getting to the off road place I want to ride. That is the main reason I go with the bigger bikes. Other than that, I would love the 890. Choosing a bike nowadays is difficult, so many great options to choose from.

      Yeah that sucked. It is 95% what I want in a bike. This thing is everything that my Multistrada wanted to be, honestly if the Multi had the low slung fuel tanks, I would probably still have it.

    That's purdy man! 😍
    KTM TC is so much better for having fun with. It'll only interfere when it thinks you're near death. Honda TC is there for being safe above all else but sadly it causes safety issues with its interference.
    Glad you've got the perfect bike now dude 😃

      Once again I have to dig you out of the naughty list. Bro YT has it out for you. I see absolutely nothing wrong with your comment. Jebus Christ.
      Anyway, you are right about the interference. on the AT the TC would kick in when passing if the bike was leaned too much which is why it always stayed on 1. Oh man did ever hit the nail on the head with this bike. It ticks all the boxes except one but with 160 HP, you already know it won't get the best of fuel mileage and I will probably have to carry some octane booster on a long trip incase I don't have access to premium fuel.
      😂 Team Veggie, you betcha.

      @@Booneville2024 I contacted KTM and they gave me the ol “CYA” answer. BUT, they did say that half to 3/4 tank shouldn’t be detrimental and to keep it in off road mode since the timing is retarded to cut the power down.
      Either way like you said, lower octane should be fine in an emergency situation.

    • @BigDaveTALKS
      @BigDaveTALKS  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that’s easy just use thicker head gaskets and have the combustion chamber size increased. Just how much money one would want to spend is the question.

    • @BigDaveTALKS
      @BigDaveTALKS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Didn’t save the rock, But I got it on VIDEO!😆. I wanted to keep it but it actually broke in half when the shop tried pulling it out. It was light as a piece of chalk though. It was definitely a one in a million weird incident.

    "Im in the break-in period" Right as the tach is blinking letting you know you're NOT! hahaha . Sorry about that flat situation man. What kind of kitty cat tires are on there?

    • @BigDaveTALKS
      @BigDaveTALKS  ปีที่แล้ว

      😆Man those are the Batlax AX41. The stock tires and they were working well till that dang rock ended the day. Now I have my spare on the rear and is handling very well, just not too great on the single track. (Dunlop Trailmax Mission). I now have 460 miles on it and it's safe to say, I definitely got the right bike. Something funny happened yesterday you should watch out for. The little smoked out transparent piece/ wedge looking thing, behind the windscreen, yeah it just flew off while riding😂 . Damn KTM already falling apart, but if that's the worst then I'm fine with that. Just make sure yours is secure. I was on the back roads and found it along side of the ditch, it would have sucked if it did it on the highway or a road with heavy traffic.

      @BigDaveTALKS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, I wish I would have set up some test rides, i would have saved a LOT of $$$ if i would have got this bike first. My Multistrada was fun but not off road, The Africa Twin does everything but is just boring unless you’re off road. I now know why KTM has such a loyal base even with their little QC issues. They just build a bad ass machine.

      I had the ATAS before the 1290. The 1290 fits my riding style, hands down, way better than the AT. I still love the 1290 but added a T7 to the mix recently as well.
