Great idea... Someone has talent with wood. I am about to embark on a journey, camping in a SUV and tent, as I travel across western Canada meeting with people who have been "forced" to live on the street or in their vehicle. I have all the gear needed but no fancy wood-work. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, that is beautiful work. Some folks fail to realize that the quality of materials and workmanship is actually worth the value. Other vendors may offer less expensive packages but you get what you pay for. Your work looks top quality.
@@CampNCar Id be very interested in this. I just bought a Highlander and this looks amazing. Can you share your location and estimate price for something like this? Thanks so much
@@woundedhealer1851 Cheers! We’d be happy to create a build like this for you. Our custom shop is located in Port Townsend Washington. Custom builds like this usually run between 4k-9k but it greatly depends. You can learn more and send an inquiry at: campncar.com/custom
This Highlander's spare tire is actually located underneath the back end of the car. It's a very convenient location for a camper build since it doesn't take up any interior space and is still easy to access :)
Around 2:49 though is where you see clearly that the large size and high number of windows in the Highlander that allow nice natural light in are now blocked. Around 3:00 it also doesn't seem like there's enough head room for one to sit up straight and work at the pull down work table.
This was built to the customers specifications and desires so they're well aware about the light blockage and headroom amount. Everything with vehicle camping involves trade offs and they were very comfortable with making those minor sacrifices to have a sweet one of a kind camper setup!
Our custom projects have a minimum of a $3000 charge, this particular one was closer to $7000. Well worth the time from our world class craftspeople and the top notch materials we use!
@@WestHaddnin We certainly won't stop people from trying to do projects themselves but for those who want world class craftspeople to do it for them we're here to provide those services :) It's an extremely reasonable price for their time and the top notch materials that go into making these.
@@CampNCar Altough I do understand the complexity in concepting such a lovely set-up, 7000$ is way overpriced for a minimalist camper like this. I do not want to compare, and I know you are using quality material, but freewaycamperkit makes a 4799.99$ (canadian dollar) conversion kit for a Sienna that includes the fridge and the mattress
Wow!! Well done...I love it!! 👏👏🏆💖
Thank you! 😊 Glad you like it!

Love the hidden Yeti!! Noticed the hole below for extra storage. That’s where my spare tire is in my highlander. Where’s the spare in this one?

It's a custom build man. Relax.
So how do you get the spare tire? Thanks
In this model of the Highlander the spare tire is located underneath the vehicle in the rear!
Beautiful. What does it cost?!

@@CampNCar 7000?! For that?!! Aw hell naw I thought you were going to show how you built it . F that.

@@CampNCar No disrespect bro. I was just caught off guard by the ticket. Especially since I’m pretty handy myself. Maybe I should post mine.

I wonder how much weight you can carry in the highlander before it loses fuel economy
Great question! Our client hasn't noticed a huge change in fuel economy with this build, but it's possible it had a small impact.
Where are you located
We are located in Port Townsend, Washington! What kind of help are you looking to get with your conversion? :)
Are you based in Australia?
Nope! We're in Port Townsend, Washington in the USA.
You can't access the cooler without getting out of the car in the middle of the night when it's 10 degrees out... That's great!
That is how the customer wanted it designed! Take it up with them ;)
@@CampNCar hahaha. Beautiful work btw!
How do you get the spare tire? Thanks
The spare tire of this vehicle is accessed underneath the car! No need to take anything out or even open the car to get to it :)
