- the gas adapter converter can be bought on Ebay. it allows you to use 1 other types of nozzle on camping gas canisters, the one called camping gaz. it can pay for itself if you use the adapter in conjunction with the "CAMPING GAZ" gas canisters.

Been wanting to get one of these Trangia 27 set-ups for ages now. Thanks for your reviews on them. Just ordered mine.
You won't be disappointed, these old, simple and strong designed cookers will last forever. Also you can elaborate more on different types of cooking. I think you can get different recipes on line for the trangia aswell. I even made a home made trangia, I made a video about that aswell.
They work well. I have a near-complete -27 kit, including the gas burner with one of these adapters.
@@dennisyoung4631 ...Yep, I've had mine 3 years now and think they're brilliant.
Be sure to use this adapter and cassette type gas canister only with stoves that have a pre-heater tube to prevent flare ups.
When on their sides gas canisters will send unvapourised gas to the burner.
Cheers, thats good to know 👍
Thanks for explaining what happens when it's on it's side. I saw another TH-cam video that warned about this but didn't explain why. It's an important point!
If you put a upside down Tangia pot under the neck of the can you will then be burning the gas instead of liquid butane. The control then will be instantaneous. A lot easier when frying and safer as flame will extinguish as soon as it is shut off. Cheers Steve.
Cheers for that, great advice👌
Some of the converters have a stand ( I have a couple by G works via eBay) so the gas canister is slightly tilted and the orientation is correct, this then sends gas rather than liquid to the burner.
I used one Christmas day, made 3 cups of tea on a tree stump with 2 lovely lady friends of mine and it can actually stand up when there's a bit of weight in the cooker and a smooth surface, good to know about the stands though, cheers. 👍
@@Andy-walkaboutnutty As I understand it the cartridge needs to be vertical if it's not going to be oriented the correct way when used horizontally.
Sounds like thats what you were doing.
If you check the top of the Adapter its flat the gas cannisters are slightly more rounded for a flush fit to the o ring in the stove or the screw on fitting for stoves that have a remote can. Just beware of them they are all Chinese with no safety compliance markings. Some are crap I've got a few and only one i trust!
OK. Thanks for that Roger 👍
in theory pure butane has more btu's than the butane-propane-isobutane mixes so as long as you use butane in warm weather the performance should be good. when using these asian-style butane cans horizontally the notch in the can rim needs to be pointing straight up to prevent liquid fuel from being pushed into the burner which will cause the stove to flare up, which could be a problem in the wrong situation... however if you are in cold weather and your stove has a preheating loop that passes fuel over the hot burner, once the stove is hot you do want to flip the can so the notch is pointing straight down, this will feed liquid fuel to the burner and help prevent the fuel can from freezing up. here in america these fuel cans are sold under an endless list of brand names.. in asian countries these are used daily as standard cooking appliances in all homes that can afford them.
Thanks for the advice marzsit, yes freezing temperatures drops the performance drastically and the canister will stand up with this gear on the flat and it goes out straight away when turned off. These fuel cans are for the summer only for sure. This video is mainly about the adapter converter and how to get it for free in the end with these types of fuel canisters.
awesome. thanks
Your welcome 👍
Size drat adaptor?
The size fits the small gas canisters called camping gaz. This type of canisters "camping gaz" is available all over Europe and is French, I believe. So the adapter allows you to go from a threaded type nozzle to a none threaded nozzle, which is the camping gaz type. I hope this helps 🙂👍
Do you have a link to where you bought this
If you go on Ebay and search gas adaptor converter, loads of choices for this device will come up Michael
@@Andy-walkaboutnutty I did see many I was just looking for this particular one as you had already reviewed it
Hi Wats the stove in this add
The trangia 27 series with it's own gas converter, the orange adapter just allows the cooker to use different types of gas canisters just in case you go abroad or the shop runs out of the type of gas canister you want.
we have a problem in USA with CAMPINGAZ TWISTER PLUS PZ we cant use the gas bottles that we can buy here... do you know what kind of adapter we should use with our twister plus px? thank you
I don't know anything about the American gas bottles, sorry. It sounds like you have the threaded gas bottles where you just twist it on like a nut and bolt, we have both hear and a lot of people get both versions mixed up. Campingaz is European and it sounds like you've got a European cooker and American gas bottles. Your gas bottle have to be by campingaz, no other bottle will fit your cooker so you may have to order on line to buy internationally?? This adapter goes from threaded to campingaz where as you need an adapter the other way around, campingaz to threaded. I'm not 100% sure of the answer for you but I hope this helps 👍
