It’s crazy how they’re scheduling MET, for 10 hour shifts and also asking if anyone wants VTO as soon as they get a station. Also we’ve been scheduled for the 3rd week of MET which I don’t mind at all, up until prime week! The money is good so far 👌

Amazon should offer incentives like stock exchange and profit sharing for a year of employee service and that may stem the flow, but they would need to stop firing for UPT and allow more flexible work shifts.

They simply need to lower their silly rate system.Watch how many people stay.If you get 36 hours at my age, which is 40 in a few months you good. The pay is alright, most of their management and expectations is not....Also let people have set stations so they don't have to see management who act like they don't want to work or P.A'S all the time, that gets annoying. When I was a Stower I would have loved a set station every time I come on duty. Come in clock and get straight to business without the unnecessary hassle of having to massage management or P.A egos....

That's kind of funny. Not surprising the way they run through people though. I feel like if they offered more ways for employees to improve on things like UPT and productivity, they'd see less turnover. For example, instead of automatically deducting UPT, maybe only take UPT if you submit the request less than 24 hours before the start of a shift, except during peak. As far as productivity, they could offer underperforming associates the chance to train in another department if they're below the learning curve in their current department. Someone who's a shitty stower could be a great packer if you gave them the chance.

    • @S.B.
      @S.B.  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

For amazon to fix its issues it would have to fix some of its core cultural philosophies that they've adopted simply from being one of the biggest companies in the world. Managers for the time that they're putting in are not well compensated when you look at the industry in general along with benefits that you could receive in other places. Still, it's a great place to essentially level up your resume to be able to be hired anywhere, as it is with their software engineering jobs. Work-life balance is essential, and isn't something people realize is really important till they've worked at a much better job, along with the fact that theirs a huge encouragement at amazon over the past essentially 3 years for their warehouse associates to leave or to work hard to promote themselves like you has done. In my opinion, Amazon is a great stepping stone to work at if you take advantage of what they can provide, with career choice as well as the ability to be able to quickly promote yourself to a much better paid position internally if you're able to meet those demands.
Automation is cool, and will eventually come but that takes a very long time to be able to implement correctly, and as much as you may disagree with this, introducing tech would in my opinion just restructure their needs into hiring more people to be able to maintain and update that automation. They have incentives for a reason to have a dedicated mission to train more people in the cloud because it's a field that will be needed more in the future to maintain that kind of business.
On that, note if they made theremore internal positions in the warehouse have some pay incentives so people would strive to actually work those positions, offered some loyalty compensation to employees that stay long term with continual income increases, performance based bonuses, easier access to be able to seek internal promotions or seek career growth during work hours and provided better benefits to their long time employees I think those things personally would alleviate their issues. The culture of wanting to weed and remove out "lazy employees" as Jeff put it in his internal monologue works really well to become a monolith but will always hit the current trajectory there currently on.

If they paid more they would absolutely retain employees better and not have an issue. The entire purpose for employees working at all is money. Other incentives in the workplace are nice, but cash is king. Time for amazon to stop with the "Total compensation packages" and raise the base line salary to be competitive with other tech companies. They are above the curve considering stock options and bonus incentives, but at the end of the day, those incentives run out. Theres a retention cliff at 4 years for a reason.

I was fired during Covid last year for negative UPT, I wasn’t able to get tested and because I wasnt able to provide a positive test to amazon, I wasn’t able to get my time off, so they removed it and gave me -90 hours of UPT, I rejoined amazon a month ago, and now I’m an ambassador, so yes, negative UPT terminations are not permanent. It’s a six month wait until you can reapply. My facility wanted to keep me, but the employee resource center insisted I be fired so there was nothing I could do. Don’t ever get in trouble with ERC, they told me I wouldn’t be terminated due to my situation, yeah obviously that was a load of shit.

I got hired at Amazon Buf5 in October 2021.
This past June 14th I had extreme neck & back pain that I told the manager and the safety team about and I was told to go back to work and keep my mouth shut.
Everything on that conveyer belt that night was so heavy that I couldn’t even lift it and I ended up leaving early that night.
I don’t qualify for health insurance through Amazon since i’m a parttime employee, I have my own health insurance which isn’t the best, and I didn’t even have a primary care doctor to go to.
So I called the number on the back of my
Insurance card and I finally got into a doctor on June 29th, I had x-rays of my neck & spine done on July 6th and on the 13th I was diagnosed with scoliosis with a curved thoracic spine, and messed up discs in my back.
I got medical clearance to go back to work but I have weight restrictions on what I can lift and push.
I submitted the paperwork to the accomodation team and now work is determining if they want me back or not.
I’ve already gone four weeks without a paycheck which sucks. I’ve been trying to get compensation through the Hartford which handles Amazon. I just submitted my paperwork for that and i’m waiting for their response/decision.
Work doesn’t seem to want me back because of my messed up back that I didn’t have until I started working there, but they don’t seem to want to fire me either.

Then awaiting approval on my accomodation since I was diagnosed with scoliosis a curved thoracic spine, and slipped discs in my back I can’t lift anything heavier than 20 pounds. I submitted paperwork last week and I just got an answer from the accomodation team telling me that Buf5 doesn’t want me on that side anymore, now I have to go to the opposite side of the building to Buf9 to work in the returns department
