I live in Cleveland, OH where rent and gas are about as cheap as you'll find in the country. I make what they are asking for doing customer service in an office. Their demand is not only reasonable, it's selling themselves short.
It doesn’t seem like they are asking too much. I live in California and the cost of living is very high, so for the same work they should get paid more here in California than other areas where the same house cost 1/3 as much.
I totally agree with you if he gives them a raise of five dollars an hour pretty soon they will ask for more. I’m not trying to defend the company most of my family works for amozan including my son. They should be given reasonable raise.
I don’t think I will buy from Amazon anymore! Amazon might only think 150 workers walking out is nothing, but wait till they loose customers too! They should be paying them more!
My brother -in-law got hurt at Amazon. He was climbing down out of a truck & the railing broke, he fell & broke his leg & was rushed to the hospital (by rushed, I mean gave him the side eye for leaving mid-shift). Amazon demanded he come to work THE NEXT DAY & told him he could just sit at a desk & work, meanwhile the hospital wanted him to stay for further examination cuz the knee was so inflamed. Being the father of 3 he felt he had no choice & left the hospital against Docs order..... luckily there was no serious damage, but they didn't know that!!!!

Even when i worked at a bottling warehouse in and out on a forklift we always kept the temperature at least room temp.
Hi Marty. Maybe there is a good compromise here. Amazon should share profits or give some kind of stock option two employees so they can have a chance to get ahead just like Jeff Bezos. He is not a special human being other than being quite savvy. Everyone else has the same dreams and desires. So he should make it possible for them to profit from their productivity. It’s the way I always do business.
@@steveperreira5850 When I worked there they did give you 8 shares after completing two years of employment. Employees, however, voted in a higher pay wage and got rid of the stock options. I disagree, Marty. I have worked warehouse. It’s brutal. The point is, if Henry Ford could double the rate of pay back in the early 1900s - before he became filthy rich - then Jeff B can do the same. Amazon will only benefit from such a move.
Every CEO and everyone that holds high positions in every company should be mandaded to live on the salary of their lower wage employees for at least 6 months. And preferably work on their positions as well. This should be a law, if you want to go higher on your company you should know how your employees live. And then we would see wages and working conditions improving.

I am on the East Coast and are building warehouses galore. When I see a worker, I try to buy them lunch. They are always so nice. I didn’t know this was happening.
Not only should wages be increased but Amazon's notoriously unfair write up process needs to be changed. HR wanted to blame me for the HARMLESS mistakes caused by other fellow coworkers. Their logic was "we expect more out of tier 3 associates" (they wanted me to take the initiative and correct their behaviors despite me earning the same salary as them). They're evil.
I’m an associate at that fulfillment center all these people are lying, we get spoiled there more than any other fulfillment center Ive worked at. most of them ignore all the safety rules and end up getting hurt then they coach each other on what to say to try to go on Worker’s Comp, I’m not saying no to the $5 raise through
I honestly don't believe it's that's bad at Amazon. They pay decent entry lvl wages . For 40 hours . The problem is most people need 60-70 hours a week.
If they use the Amazon Fresh coupons, it's $20 off $40. And those coupons are infinite use, I can get so much more groceries than anywhere else. I bet a minimum wage worker could feel rich using that coupon.
As bush jr said we are a service economy so pay us a living raise and give up your yearly bonus and don't pass on the cost to get back your million dollar bonus

good for them. takes a lot of courage to organize something like that in such a hellscape of amazon warehouses. Just offering a "Job" is less than worthless if that job doesn't pay enough for someone to afford a minimum level of living.
My gosh, work is so hard! I had no idea manual labor is so difficult...! Not to worry my friends, automated sorting and stacking robots are on their way. You won't need to slave in the factory anymore, you'll be free to pursue your dreams elsewhere.
RANT: At 1:16 "My whole check goes into me being able to come to work." I wish I knew more about his situation. Assuming he has major financial issues, that's not Amazon's problem. If someone's car payment and car insurance is too high, that's not Amazon's problem. If someone has a bunch of debt, that's not Amazon's problem. Is Amazon responsible for paying my credit card that has a balance of $2,335? Are they responsible for my car bill because I decided to get a new car with payments instead of a used car with little to no payments? Is Amazon responsible for paying my expensive 5 bedroom house instead of the cheaper WAY MORE AFFORDABLE 3 bedroom house? No. If someone has to Uber to work, that's not Amazon's problem. However, I think Amazon does offer some sort of assistance for getting to work with a rideshare or something. But it's ridiculous bullshit by Amazon because it's more like an idea. At least the part I kinda read. If someone lives far from work, that's not Amazon's problem. If your rent or mortgage takes a majority of your checks, that's not Amazon's problem either. We put ourselves in debt. I understand if someone had a health issue, to a certain extent. By the way, I'm also an Amazon employee. A regular one at that. I'm not a PA or anything like that. However, Amazon can, obviously, afford to give raises. Amazon can fucking afford it and still have billions of dollars. I'll also say this, with a lot of people, the more money they make the more they spend and many end up in the same situation. Look, if you don't like your job, for whatever reason, look for a different one. You can also get a second job/part-time.
Sounds like a bunch of whining, nobody is forcing these people to work there. Then they wonder why it's so expensive in California its because they all want massive wage increases which just increases the cost of everything else.
I'm working there since november and I thinks it's kinda good, I'm working at night I don't really know if it's a big different but I can work only what I can do, I'm getting paid 19.50 ( because of a bonus of 2 dollars) I'm struggling with the language but I thing for me my jobs it's pretty easy and fast
They do deserve a living wage. They also need to vote for people who will lower the the cost of living as well. California is one of the most expensive states to live with high taxes and over regulation. This why California has a mass exodus issue.
If you don't like what you get paid, move on to something better! You chose to work there! I moved on and found a great job, you just have to try and not give up! Sometimes you don't get what you ask for!!!!

Because it's odd people cry about higher wages when there's trades and college courses u can take part time and easily get over 20-25 an hour after highschool with 1-2 years experience. The problem is non skill labor jobs suck if u do you don't get overtime generally. And managers are cutting the overtime to zero . People need to go learn a trade or two .

ALU! Support the union! Right now, a 1 bdrm place is costing $1100/month in most states. To make 3x the rent to actually afford it PROPERLY, you would need to make $20.50/hr. Any less and you are skipping meals and not having any savings for the future.
If u can't move up in companies with no skills to make over 40k a year . Then u better work a full time and a part time job to make over 40k a year Go learn a job skill from a community college or trade school. Or apprenticeship programs paid job training
Do not just blame the bloated billionaire. Blame the millions of consumers who want their cheap products delivered right to their door so they don't have to move more than a few feet to get their stuff.

I don’t know if shopping Amazon helps or hurts the employees fighting for a living wage. I also know Amazon isn’t the only corporation screwing their employees.
If Amazon unionizes, shopping there helps not just the corporation but the workers.
Is there a way if you place a order to make sure it only comes from union facilities?
$17/hr in California in 2022 doing that kind of work is f***ing criminal.
Yeah why everyone is stealing more!
Get a second job .most people with high incomes work over 70 hours a week earning around 20 dollars an hour after taxes and hours worked

Increase their wages Amazon! You didn't ask your members is if it was ok if you raised your membership cost for Prime you just did it and that was that. Wtf???
And like Prime members cancelling, these 'employees can decide to not work for Amazon.. Ez...
Inflation is out of control these people should be grateful they even have a job
I totally agree with you if he gives them a raise of five dollars an hour pretty soon they will ask for more. I’m not trying to defend the company most of my family works for amozan including my son. They should be given reasonable raise.
Rumor has it that the workers that stayed got a five dollar increase and the people who walked out got terminated
Form a union with the Teamsters
MY RESPECT TO ALL THE WORKERS THAT WALKED OUT
I think we have to do a mass walk out of every corporation. These people who think they own and control the people need a “come to Jesus” moment.
Proud of y’all!

Take note, there is a line of people begging for that job. They have interest lists to move to ramp. The ramp people don’t want to go into the building then complain about the heat.
Also, these are day shift workers. Night shift gives $1.50 raise and is much cooler outside.
So ask yourself why, if they need the money so bad, do they not work nights?

Awesome to see - solidarity with them!!!
As an ex employee of Amazon… In Southern California… I would say their wages are fair. If you compare their wages to competitors in the area… they are right on par. This job requires no experience or education. And is a job with full benefits. Usually having optional overtime… I fail to see the issue.. and no air conditioning… have these people ever worked warehouse in their lives? What were they truly expecting??
Did yu not listen to the whole video?
They said that because of location and the doors opening and closing constantly lets in all that 100+ degree heat into the building where they work making it hotter than it should simply because of poor architect design.
@@steveperreira5850
When I worked there they did give you 8 shares after completing two years of employment. Employees, however, voted in a higher pay wage and got rid of the stock options.
Amazon also helps pay for college after one year of employment to help better your career even if it’s not intended to be within the company.
You clearly are uninformed or misinformed about the company. Not to sound pretentious or disrespectful… but the people that walked out are about the same as kids that do a walk out at high school… They we’re more excited about missing work/school for a day than anything else.
@@martinsandoval9380 have you ever walked or driven into a trailer inside a warehouse? They are literal ovens. The same as these shipping containers. People all around the world do it. Not to be rude but it’s part of the business. Welcome to warehouse.
I disagree, Marty. I have worked warehouse. It’s brutal. The point is, if Henry Ford could double the rate of pay back in the early 1900s - before he became filthy rich - then Jeff B can do the same. Amazon will only benefit from such a move.
Only the young people complain about working and not getting rewarded.
This is why UNIONIZATION is the best way to go about things.
Good for you, workers stay united and strong❤️❤️
We can also show support by not buying anything from Amazon and letting them know why.
I hope they get what they need!
Every CEO and everyone that holds high positions in every company should be mandaded to live on the salary of their lower wage employees for at least 6 months. And preferably work on their positions as well. This should be a law, if you want to go higher on your company you should know how your employees live. And then we would see wages and working conditions improving.
It used to be that the owners of businesses would make a certain percentage over their employees. Somewhere along the line that changed.

become a roofer or any job outside and they will know what real heat and labor is. they move things with machines and roller and what not. they should thank amazon for providing all the things that make their jobs as easy as they are. 10-15 years ago was much much more harder work. people have it to easy now a days, and they think they are entitled to more. if you don't like working there go somewhere else. They agreed to work there and to get paid what they get paid. go find somewhere better, unless you don't qualify for better cause your personal life choices made it so. no one is forcing them to work there nor anywhere else in America.
Work or starve isn't much of a choice. And sure many of them would find better work if their health insurance wasn't tied to their employer.
Are you that dense? Bet you wouldn’t be able to work some position AAs do. Yes some people have it easy but those people barely move a finger, Amazon loves hiring lazy people but how do you think these packages are delivered every day to millions of households a day, we are a team, some work harder than others to keep the flow, those are the people we are fighting for.

If they use the Amazon Fresh coupons, it's $20 off $40. And those coupons are infinite use, I can get so much more groceries than anywhere else. I bet a minimum wage worker could feel rich using that coupon.

good for them. takes a lot of courage to organize something like that in such a hellscape of amazon warehouses. Just offering a "Job" is less than worthless if that job doesn't pay enough for someone to afford a minimum level of living.
I remember when warehouses where making double minimum wage
Exactly. It isn’t Amazons problem you can’t live off $17 an hour. How about you go make $15 somewhere else see how that works.

They do deserve a living wage. They also need to vote for people who will lower the the cost of living as well. California is one of the most expensive states to live with high taxes and over regulation. This why California has a mass exodus issue.
