      I could say he's just salty, but in truth i believe his debt lead him to have as other have suggested back street style augmentation. Where is debt collectors took what body parts they could for his debt and left him with most likely dug out augments from fallen pilots.

      I think its not that they are emotionless but that they normally don't show it, and maybe dont really understand feelings well. Iguazu just got so mad at 621, he became an angry revengehobo.

      So, they have a different interpretation of emotions (which could be seen as unnaturally high hatred or not having emotions), 621 barely (if ever) talks, it seems like a side effect of gen 4 augmentation is just autism of some sort

    Did any other AC lore fans shake their head in joyous disbelief at all the visual to the series past? Finding the institute AC wreck in Ayre's survey mission was like seeing a fossilized disorder unit to me! Stuff like the base Balem and Arquebus cores being straight up AC3 designs reimagined, the fat AC legs that Snail uses, and even how the PCA are like the earth special forces. And lets not forget how the plot is being orchestrated by an Ai. Visually and thematically, Fromsoft knows how to speak to us long time AC fans, even 10 years after the last title.

    The final ending is definitely one of the strangest ones. It very reminiscent of other Japanese Transhumanist stories, where the ultimate evolution of people is some sorta energy-based life form, semi-immortal, nearly incorporeal with infinite potential. I wouldn't call it all that but its also not as hopeful as Liberation. It just leaves a lot of questions and understandably its confusing for everyone, especially thanks to how Ayre words her speech.
    What I do think though is that, for the most part, what made Thumb and O'Keffe so afraid is that there's no way to know what will happen when Symbiosis is achieved. The consequence they've been mentioning. The Convergence is terrifying in the sense that, until it happens, the results are as unknowable and as frightening as just dying. The potential to lose yourself, to lose what makes you human (and in turn YOU) can put anyone off. People can become robots with their brains infinitely preserved in a their steel skulls but that just sounds so foreign and strange that it puts people off. And they'd rather live a miserable existence if it means being human.
    In a sense its very similar to End of Evangelion but compared to that, turning into OJ, you keep individuality. You keep your consciousness and you keep your dreams. You just lose your corporeal form. Hell, what Allmind want is prolly closer to EoE than what actually did happen. But in both stories (at least for the OG Anime ending), this symbiotic existence is not all that so bad once you're finally there at the other side.
    Whether or not its just the dead or all who live turn into Coral-like lifeforms is unknown but I see the ending in a positive light, as with Coral now disseminated across the stars, there's effectively an afterlife. 621 doesn't need to go through surgery, get used again to being a normal human, with normal needs who has to eventually die. Maybe he can possess a smaller machine one day and live a civilian life, being an energy based lifeform gives you that option. And any other human is effectively guaranteed an afterlife in the Coral.
    And for the pilots who are now their ACs, they can enjoy fighting each other for years, facing Songbirds and Zimmermans for all-
    -y'know what this is hell after all.

    Actually, Ayre is using an Ephemera AC to fight alongside 621 against Allmind.
    Interestingly, Allmind seems to be using a modified Sol (not Echo) in the second phase of the fight.

    I've been looking forward to this one and you didn't disappoint!!
    If you wanted more proof that Kate is actually Allmind, take a look at the Integration Arena you unlock in NG+, more specifically Mind BETA or B-1. It's Kate's AC.
    Interestingly, the Allmind AC we see in the first phase is also fought in the Integration Arena, Mind GAMMA or y-1.
    Also slight note: The unit Ayre pilots in the Fires of Raven ending is not the Echo, but a part of the IBIS series, the SOL 644. It's actually briefly seen in the cutscene after we are captured by Arquebus along with the HAL 826.

      I appreciate the feedback and i am glad your enjoyed.

    • @Sorain1
      @Sorain1 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      To add on to this, I am reasonably sure that Allmind/G5's final machine is also the Sol 644, in different colors, (including Allminds glow instead of Ayre's) and fitted with weapons made by Allmind instead of the original Institute weapons. (It does energy damage, not Coral damage as in the Ayre battle.) The frame has the same shape (the head is especially distinctive) and it is seen from behind during the cutscene talking about how Arquebus seized RRI weapons, equipped with the coral based weaponry Ayre used in the Fire's ending (as well as in it's original color scheme).
      This would explain both where that weapon was during the Die is Cast ending, and why you can't get that ending unless you fight the Echo in the arena. Without that fight for Ayre to experience piloting, and posit that the Echo must actually exist out there somewhere, her intervening with Echo during the fight would come out of nowhere. Ayre might not even think to go grab it to help you, and fighting 2 C-Spiders along with the Sol 644 (Allmind fitting) would be a rather difficult task.
      One thing I appreciate is how consistent all three Ibis weapons are tracked in the narrative. The Hal (Ibis 03) is only glimpsed in the Fires of Raven ending, as it's pilot was intended to be Walter and with him dead Carla likely couldn't find it. The Cel (Ibis 02) was used by the Coral as a final line of defense and falls in Chapter 4 in all timelines, likely being irreparable without a reactor. Ayre uses Sol 644 (Ibis 01) in the Fires ending, Arquebus doesn't have a way to control it in the Liberator ending, and Hal (Ibis 03) is thrown by Snail at 621 for revenge in that ending. Allmind acquires and uses the Sol 644 in the Die is Cast, destroys the Hal (Ibis 03) under Walter's control in it's ending.
      It's neatly tied up no matter the route. The Echo is just an Ephemera Frame with advanced Coral weaponry, presumably left in storage in the other two endings. (I mean, if you are in Ayre's place, are _you_ taking the Echo or the Sol 644 to face 621 in battle?)

    Here to chip in a little on the final ending [Alea Lacta Est]
    It seems to be strongly suggested that it is not just "Coral" that gets propagated thought the universe, but more specifically *YOU and AYRE*
    You wake up in a different AC from what you finally ended the game with, and on a seemingly different planet
    note that Ayre is calling you specifically to wake up and you hear the water yourself before waking up
    to me it seems to also end on a more adventurous and hopeful note, instead of the more potentially fearful one you suggest (the reasons will become clear as I explain)
    1. You wake up in a Different AC, and it clearly is supposed to be *You* (aka. 621/Raven) as Ayre calls *You specifically* awake, and the AC rises from the waters.
    - Note that the AC in the cutscene is different from the one you end the game with, and as AC6 has used YOUR AC for every cutscene up until now, it would be quite a reach to say this was a simple oversight
    - However, this AC being the same build as your starter AC, and Ayre calling you out specifically is supposed to tell you that this is not your own AC, but it is *YOU* , hence why you hear the water before waking up fully. this is you, but a new you, a different but same you
    - This strongly suggests that through your augmentation and contact with Ayre, followed by Coral release, you yourself (621/Raven) have *become part of the coral weave*
    and is now, to some degree, have become *one with Ayre and Coral itself* (explained further in point 3)
    2. Ayre is taking up the role of COM(the AC control Computer) signified by her announcing the AC combat mode activation.
    While this could be taken as a sight of aggression(since Ayre is capable of piloting ACs herself), I find it much more likely that this is just how you "*roll out*" as an AC, and Ayre(more in the JP voice) sounds quite excited when exclaiming "Main System: Activating Combat mode".
    Followed by a more up-beat ending track, it seems much more likely that this ending is about You and Ayre(through coral release) getting propagated into the universe. an now through the mediums of ACs, explore the universe and the potential of Coral and likely even coexistence with Humanity
    Ayre's activation of the AC combat mode is likely more akin to her saying *"Lets go Raven!"*
    - also note that You and Ayre are the only real candidates to pilot ACs, though even then You would need COM to pilot it. and taking that into account, it is quite odd that you would be the first AC to wake up/rise from the waters considering Ayre (or any other of the Coral minds if they can) could have piloted and woken up all the other ACs in the field
    - This makes me think that Ayre is quite happy to take the role of COM for you, and follow you (or well... you's) towards whatever future you lead towards
    - Coral Rubiconians have no body, and you are an AC pilot now without a body within the coral weave, so it is quite fitting that you yourself would take up the form of an AC, with Ayre following you and supporting you as the COM in whatever journey you take on together.
    Ayre does enjoy your company quite a bit afteral (she swore to 'support' you wherever you go, and that ECM fog control device isn't going anywhere)
    3. *ALLMIND* says during the boss fight that they believes the brothers and sisters of Ayre (i.e. Coral) will *"Welcome"* them. this is an odd statement, since Coral as a society(if you can call it that) would have no reason to "Welcome" them if they are the ones being set free, it would be humanity and the world as a whole that's supposed to welcome them (Coral)
    - This suggests that ALLMIND's true intent was not simply the release of coral, but to *become part of it themselves* much like how Raven, through Ayre became part of the coral weave themselves, and become propagated and omi-present, explaining why they would be the ones to be welcomed, specifically into the Coral weave
    - It is also worth mentioning that ALLMIND seems to have something akin to blue/cyan Coral, which both their own ACs and Sea-Spiders seemed to be powered by, signified by the small particles flying around them just like Coral does during cutscenes and the battle
    - this could suggest that ALLMIND managed to mimic coral's characteristics, which could explain how they planned to become part of it, by becoming just like coral, becoming something that can mix with coral
    - Alternatively, ALLMIND could be Seria, the coral anomaly that Dolmayan made contact with, integrating herself so thoroughly into man-made machines that it changed the nature of the coral that made her up, but this seems odd, as this would not explain why she would need Ayre to trigger coral release, but it could be that she has mutated too much, that she can no longer do it herself
    ex: I personally believe ALLMIND managed to mimic coral, by basically copying and converting human minds into a form similar to Coral
    Coral is clearly modeled after neural networks (the brain kind), so mimicking it by basically creating an artificial version of it from extracted human minds seems reasonable
    This would also explain how Iguazu is seemingly living within ALLMIND, and how he talks about all the other You killed. his mind has basically been extracted from his previous body, and he was chosen to take you on as he had the strongest hatrad towards you out of anyone ALLMIND had absorbed
    the floating blue/cyan Coral particles are most likely more artificial coral created with the minds of the foes you killed up till this point
    though, most likely these are all augmented AC pilots, as that is probably the only way ALLMIND could access their minds and extract htem
    this all leads me to conclude that the [Alea Lacta Est] ending is about embracing the potential of coral, and the different way of existence it signifies
    shown most clearly by your own integration into the coral weave, and going beyond the human form and existence, towards a new form of your own humanity and it's experiences
    You and Ayre set out to explore the universe and and what this all entails together

      @@armoredcorelore Thanks!
      I can also see why you arrived at your own conclusion. the idea of an omni-present and ever expanding intelligence taking over old war-machines is quite the potential for a bloody outcome. not to mention the idea of going outside the realms of humanity is potentially horrifying
      It's probably more to do with our own world views when it comes to this matter, Someone like me accepts the value and potential of going beyond the human experience, to see what more the universe has to offer, all the risks included
      On the other hand, you may find the thought daunting, or even terrifying of losing humanity, or letting something beyond humanity loose.
      it can be a seed of disaster
      it's as Dolmaya and O'keeffe said, "you don't want the Coral release", and more so for O'Keefe,
      "Shovel down your bland rations. Slurp down your coffee-flavored sludge. Sure it sucks - but that's being human"

    I like your use of real world similarities. In that vein, the 3rd ending takes the concept of Ray Kurzweil's Singularity, transcending biology, and combines it with the astrophysics Singularity, a point of infinite density. A beautiful, and I believe, intentional artistic pairing.
    Neil Degrasse Tyson actually gripes to Kurzweil himself on a podcast about using that word.

      The lore on that AC design is especially neat. The Echo was an RRI design specifically mimicing how Coral controls itself, essentially deliberately made in a manner easily controlled by Coral. The Ibis 01 used by Ayre in the Fires of Raven ending wasn't, but was designed to prevent disasters and is being put to it's intended use there. Though I admit, it's a little morbid to consider Ayre is essentially firing parts of her brain at the enemy the whole time. But the Ibis 02 CEL from chapter 4 was doing the same the whole time, so I guess we can consider akin to finding trimming your nails or cutting your hair morbid.

    I have to admit, not only was this a great review of the story of AC 6, but I think your interpretation of ending 3 is a meaningful one.
    With Coral everywhere and able to think for itself, making decisions as individuals? Chaos is going to ensue. Some Coral intelligences are sure to want vengeance, or power, and take up arms.
    But, humans fought before the discovery of Coral, and adding a few more combatants to the field isn't going to change the fundamentals.
    One thing is for sure: C4 621 - Raven, and Ayre are going to be on those battlefields. Just as they would be in the Liberator of Rubicon ending, just as an independent rather than a symbol of Rubiconian independence.

    • @armoredcorelore
      @armoredcorelore  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your kind praise especially since this video does have mistakes in it. Still as for that ending i think i just felt something was off about it i could be wrong and maybe coral and humans become one but then as you said they would have their own thoughts and feeling especially mixed in with some human feelings maybe war will start again not by the hands of human but these new beings.

    You know I just had a thought, Cleaner's location implies that it protects the access to the upper levels, or maybe it actually *protects RaD from incursion from the upper levels,* seeing as they do not control that area, but instead the PCA have it completely locked down. Is it possible the PCA made multiple attempts through this area to take down RaD?

    • @armoredcorelore
      @armoredcorelore  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Possible since RaD mts mechs made it into the black market so they are supplying weapons in a sense and we do see that at one point the PCA do invade Carla's grind and push her back to the watchpoint. A good thought, i like it.

  • @kitsunekimchi118

    Man, that last ending is brutal. I feel that the second one was better, as it allowed Ayre to grieve the loss of her family at the hands of the humans, yet be granted hope via 621 leading to a prominent future as she tells Raven that they can rebuild Rubicon 3.
    Ending 3 feels more like Ayre only grows as hateful as Iguasu, and her conscience is further tainted as 621 listens to his final thoughts before death - leading her to actively make the choice to resort to revenge once the Coral Release concludes.
    Damn..... thanks for making these explanations man. I now love FromSoftware to an even greater degree.

    • @armoredcorelore
      @armoredcorelore  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I admit i share the same feelings as you about the endings, the liberation ending is almost that chance for people and coral to find a way to work together. The third ending as you said is coral freedom being granted only for them to do perhaps what father feared and take revenge humanity for what they did to her people.

    • @ktvx.94
      @ktvx.94 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The last ending I couldn't really understand. What makes you think Ayre became resentful and the Coral seeking revenge? I genuinely don't understand, it feels too open ended. To me, it felt "hopeful" in that this was a new age where Coral evolved, perhaps fused with humans, but at the same time it felt creepy like humans were lost in the way we've always existed.

    • @kitsunekimchi118
      @kitsunekimchi118 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ktvx.94 I mean, you're right. Humans and Coral COULD have fused. But that old dude only said symbiosis was possible, not guaranteed. That meant that it could take centuries before they bonded.
      The reason I say it was a bad ending was due to how somber that final endings cut scene was. The narrator didn't speak with any tidings of hope in their message, and Ayre immediately issuing Order 66 as soon as Corals are able to operate Normals? That's literally turning the story back to full circle for me. In the end Ayre endured all that fighting with 621 only to choose Humanity's end as the only option. There may have been hope at first, but all that conflict and V. V Iguasu's entire rant about being dealt the worst hand turned her mind, bro.
      What would you do in that situation when all you see is despair, y'know?

    • @mobiuscoreindustries
      @mobiuscoreindustries ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kitsunekimchi118I guess the thing with the third ending is that we only know two things.
      Some sort of widespread coral dispersal occured, and something linked to corral is able to pilot ACs. We do not know if this is because coral actually bonded to their individual pilots (which would be my current favored choice) or override the ACs directly which would lead to the credence of a darker ending.
      The thing is nowhere is Ayre ever done anything remotely hostile against humanity unless you force her hand in doing so, it would make little sense for her to turn to that option right after coral release. Especially since symbiosis would have already been obtained at this point.
      My guess is that symbiosis was not complete, or resulted in some unforseen damage or consequences which means conflict could be right around the corner. Imagine if the corral release specifically bonded coral to AC units (both with pilots and without) and now lead to humanity seeing these recently transcended individuals seemingly without control as a threat to themselves? Definitely seems a lot deeper than just coral deciding that murder is the new order of the day.

  • @Adrian-mi6kc
    @Adrian-mi6kc ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I would also like to add something that I think ads to the depth of the plot. Carla hacks Allmind archives and tips Walter about the watchpoint. The conflict between the Overseers and Allmind existist for a longer time that you believe at first. In the conversations between Carla and Walter she refers sarcastically to our "friends" which is code name for Allmind, also proof of this is the previous conflict between Sulla and Walter's hounds.
    There are 2 logs in watchpoint mission that infer that Sulla was meant to release Ayre. By defeating him you basically took his place in the plot and in a way delay Allmind plans for coral release. Also his name is not chosen by chance by the developers, Sulla was the one who laid the ground for Caesar to cast the dye (wiki about it), his AC name is called ENTANGLE.
    For me personally the only real mystery in the plot is c3-291, Allmind reveals during V.III O'Keeffe mission briefing the 4 candidates, Sulla, you the player, Iguazu and this C3-291

    Love your videos man. I was wondering what your take is when it comes to how to interpret the endings. I see a lot of the community looking at the literal outcomes of the endings rather than than what they narratively represent, which was a bit surprising since I assumed they were meant to be processed like endings of Dark Souls, more of a philosophical question rather than a literal outcome. For example the Fires of Rubicon ending's narrative points to this idea of putting the dead to rest, as evidenced by the fact Coral appears to literally be the psychic gestalt of the dead Rubiconians. It also reinforces the idea with Walter and Carla trying to make amends for his father's work, even at the cost of his their own lives life. I personally interpreted the FoR ending as asking the player whether its better to cut ties with the past regardless of how much it hurts. The third ending is obviously a little different and I'm not fully sure how to parse that one yet.
    I suppose its just a matter of how you interact creative works like this but I'd be curious to hear how someone who's been with the AC series for a long time processes them.

    • @armoredcorelore
      @armoredcorelore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words and I'd be happy to share my personal thoughts on the endings as you say it depends on how you look at them.
      To me the fires of raven ending is the idea that the coral while a great source of advancement to humankind, it came with this price of taking away the human element in a lot of people. Walter father as you said lost his mind, all the augmented pilots lost a part of themselves and the list goes on. In the end having seen all these lives lost, the overseers group knew coral does more damage then good as such it had to go. Erasing something that advances and damages humankind is very much the same as the kojima particles, only the corporations of ac4 did not want to wipe out kojima until it became clear the earth they wanted to be kings of was dying meaning they'd be the king of nothing but a poisoned world. You could also tie all the ai of past games into this as well for to some the ravens then was going kill of humanity if they killed the ai controlling everything that allow humanity to live after the great destruction.
      The liberation front ending to me is more the status quo being kept the same. Everything just returns to how it was. There is no change to the coral and while it may seem the front has won someone will always want power and so this cycle of battle, freedom, battle will go on and on until a change is forced to happen. After all the corporations may have lost a lot but they are not down and out. I like to think this ending is very much like the ending of
      Now the cast is dye route to me is very much a message of with a big change, there is a lot of sacrifices. Allmind is ruthless in taking out all who oppose it, people are nothing but pawns and once their purpose is done they are no longer need. Its cold and calculating plan like a business plan to improve profit they are willing to kill the jobs of people to pave this golden path of money. The big change comes at a price and if 621 is willing to pay that price they begin this new age where we presume coral is now the dominant race or that it is now free from its bonds and can do what it like causing a new power to enter. To me this is very much the orca ending of acfa a lot of people have to die for this new world and in the end only a few will benefit from it.
      Hope this was enough for my thoughts on the ending.

    Something is driving me crazy; You refer to LCs as Lances and HCs as Heavy Lances/lancers. I had heard it as Light Cavalry and Heavy Cavalry. Is this a difference in localization?

    I feel the third ending is less dark than you believe it here. I personally see it as a "new dawn" type ending where a new era for humanity driven by coral begins. The AC that first wakes up is obviously 621/Raven as she calls to them to wake up and witness the new day. The other ACs are a genuine mystery as to who is piloting them. It may be coral beings or it could be dead AC pilots we met waking back up as some of them looked familiar to those we met. I personally believe these are resurrected AC pilots who now also have coral voices of their own. In regards to the "entering combat mode" I have no idea. I mean we are on a random water world that was probably a battlefield in a different war so perhaps this is simply Ayre being cautious since we are surrounded by random ACs, some of which have guns. Besides, I don't believe Ayre to be as malicious as you suspect. Her character is far more optimistic and trusting than most in the world of AC. Her driving character motive was to see coral and humanity coexist. It wouldn't make sense for her to just flip to suddenly wanting to destroy humanity out of simple vengeance.

    • @armoredcorelore
      @armoredcorelore  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is fair, i think a lot of people have different ideas about the third ending and that's great it allows for conversations like this and for healthy debate. To me it just felt like ayre was too quick to jump into combat mode and it just did not sit right with me, again only my thoughts and i think until we have an official document or book its a good conversation to have.

      I took it to mean we can get back to merc work together. She can be found saying in chapter 2 that she is quite fond of the routine, as well as during your initial run of Xylem, where she enjoys being out with our pilot protagonist.
      Her voice here also reminds me of the voice of the ACs' systems in AC5 and Verdict Day.

    Thumb Dolmayan could have been Dr. Nagai's other assistant for one he had access to the Rubicon Research Institutes research, secondly the male assistant is never mentioned by Nagai again after his 3rd note which is when he could have started dosing, third Thumb Dolmayan is in possession of Institute technology as if we look at his AC we can see that he is using an Institute coral generator, and lastly from what Ring Freddie says Thumb Dolmayan seems to know what Walters intentions are suggesting him having some knowledge about Overseer.

      I would agree these are some good points after all he lied to the voice in his head as it seems he knew to talk to seria he would be killing off her kind to do so. But we also have to take into the accounts of the professor about the boy's father who coral research made him mad and took his mother life. Ah ac lore you make me think.

    • @broomhatter3877
      @broomhatter3877 ปีที่แล้ว

      From the first of Dolmayan's writings it is clear that he has a almost religious zeal when it comes to coral and from the second it makes clear that he will say thing he doesn't believe also hearing voices in your head hardly qualifies as being sane. one other thing is an assistant for Doctor Nagai he would have had easy access to pure coral which by the Comms Record: Doser Ravings has a lot stronger effect on the brain. at the very least even if he wasn't Nagai's assistant he did at least worked for the Institute for some time.

    Thank you for your fantastic work! It's great to see armored core being back and expecially meaning more videos from you coming out! But i would like to correct you on the Alea lacta Est coral release ending, it's not just that coral is spread torought the stars and having the ability to take over machines and having more power. The ending also transformed humanity into beings who are no longer bound to their single human bodies and flesh, turning them sort of into coral human beings. Both Thumb Dolmayan and V3 O'Keefe stated the same, O'Keefe stated in his termination mission that coral release would mean that humans would be transformed into different beings and that the miserable sad lifes they have now would no longer exist, while Dolmayan said that it would bring an end to the current human race and also in a reporting stated that humans could come to the same plane as beings like ayre are.
