- Sooner or later Nagaland might be known as “A Safe Haven for Drug Peddlers” or is it already a safe haven? NLTV personally visited a few areas adjoining our Neighboring state Assam and tried to find out the ground reality. Youngsters as well as government servants are also highly addicted to the most popular drug called SF - SunFlower, an adulterated Heroin. GB & Chairman of Niu Colony Dimapur, an immediate neighbor of assam informed NLTV that the Naga Youth are fully drowned to SF drug and even more are getting to it but the colony council is trying their best to control the influx of Drugs from otherside by setting up Special Team and has also collabed with VDP ( Village Defence Party) authorized by Assam government those patrolling in Lahorijan area or other border areas. As per the Report and ground reality check 13-14 age of children mostly from high/higher school are consuming SF not only the youth but adult/elders are also a part. Both the states have police personnels posted to the check gates to check on every in & out but fails to look over rising drug peddling

Once my cousin was caught by this colony council. He was below 18 years and just a kid newly into this drug and not a seller but just a consumer. I went as a guardian to solve the issue. I thought they will give awareness to us and give proper counseling but to my surprise, they were demanding 5000 as fine for consuming drugs which is really funny.

Show them love , speak to them politely and tell them about the dangers of using drugs. They know about it for sure but any addiction is hard to give up.

As a former addict. Even if you've quit for years, once you've smoked a chest, you'll go downhill to the same path. I was so addicted that even 30/40k was nothing for even a month and that nearly led me to bankruptcy, NGL SF addiction is real hell, yes it's our fault for getting addicted to this useless shit but no one understands how we suffer to get out of this shitty addiction, one of my friend took his own life because he couldn't handle the pain. It's sad because once you're addicted to sf, all you think is about the doze for a day, it takes away our smile, happiness, interaction with our parents, family and friends, we don't even feel like we need food for survival. I've been thankful to God for giving me the strength to overcome this addiction, and I'll always be thanking him. Amen!
Please be lenient and understand those close ones suffering from this, we never know what mental situation made them use this, thank you.
The funny part is, the Niu colony council taking fine from the users which is going to do nothing good. This has become a good business for them as well. They should give counselling to the users and try to catch the traffickers or sellers and fine them or take proper action.
Come and see what kind of punishment and fine is imposed 🤣
One more thing, do not, please do not physically Harm or hurt the addicts, they're already in a state of existential crisis. Hurting them will only result in negative outcome. Be gentle with them and try to be empathetic so that they are led in the right path as i do the same with abusers who comes to me seeking for help. Help them, dont hurt/harm them. A humble request to everyone to help the helpless addicts. Thank you

In Nagaland Sun flower drug sellers are caught red handed by Police in every District of Nagaland but the whole sellers are given bail in one week it's all the fault of District Administration.

5 years herion addict from manipur.i recently came out of rehab 2 weeks ago in arubachal,it's sad to see that heroin is all i ever think of in the past during my addiction and NOTHING eles.
Once, I was also taking that sf continuously and it's very hard to get out from addiction so I just wanted to tell all people who are stll taking sf and all the drugs ,please leave you'll suffer only for a few months and your body will come back to normal, it's you who will win yourself not the drugs ,let that pain be your suffering and promise to never do it again.

Topic related to illegal drug peddling-usage.Reporting can be better if the reporter can be unbiased on his stand even tho it's hypocritical and false to themselves. And be in a neutral tone and impartial to the subject so that the other party will be unknowingly willing to share the truth and their inner thoughts. Instead of accusing or instigating. Yet, a little piece of advice to my dear journalist brother. You may report, talk, question about the situation or person involved. But you cannot never put your hands in pockets, harrass them with a tone of voice which sounds rude, just because he/she is an addict/user. This is not right. Instead advice them, give them the information needed and not put them in a bad situation in front of everyone. Let's all fight this fight together and make our state a better state.

:) your 100% right i couldn't get rid of it even though i was caught by underground 2 times in a row it's an addiction i wasn't peddling for the sake of profit or whatever so i was more into consuming i do sale half of it so i can add up some Money and buy another one again it's been so hard for me at the of the end we fall into depression and start leveling up just so we could feel nothing about what people say.! We can't get rid of it Unless it's fully unavailable in all the places i hate it so much it's been 5 day's that I'm clean without drugs but it's tempting me alot and the sedest part of drugs addiction is they give 0fucks to everyone i hate it why I have even got into those hope this drugs think disappear 🎉

It has penetrated so deeply in our state that it has become an impossible task to stop. During election i have witnessed those leaders providing free of sunflower to the youths... Some pharmacy in the early hours sells sunflowers in Dimapur. This days i have seen many young people using this drugs, and destroying their life. Not even younger generation but even the so called elders (leaders of village)are indulge in durgs. I am repeating again it has become impossible to stop.
How can we stop this?

Those addicted ppl should be taken to custody and should be sended to rehabilitation for proper treatment and help them to have a better tomorrow because we should also know that they are already addicted and are abusing so we should help them rehabilitate and most importantly take action on the peddlers so to stop peddling drugs in the market. There is a difference between consumer and peddlers so take note of that and precautions and measures should be taken to stop drugs in the market. War on drugs should be imposed and action should be taken asap or elese NAGAlandD will be filled with drug addicts and peddlers.
In Mon Town we tried this.... all 11 wards organised a rehab along with administration and sent the users there. All the people suffered a lot with lots of donations and free will. We really tried hard. Even after that we couldn't change them.
And no matter what measure we use, they never reveal the peddlers. And even if we know, sadly it's very difficult to get them red handed.
Who said rehab will stop them from taking drugs?

Being a reporter you have the right to report on the daily things or events that is taking place in and around the place but know your limits. You are a reporter and not an investigator. And it is clearly stated that the drug addicts should not be charged with harsh words or have an aggressive interrogation with them. And the way you are interacting with them is so agressive and you don't have the right to do that. Those drug addicts should be interacted and approached with love and kindness and should encourage them to leave their addiction in a good way because it is their body which is not being able to bear the pain if they don't take drugs and so if you approach them agressively and that too in front of a camera, they might fall into depression and commit suicide or harm themselves. Will you take the responsibility if that guy committed suicide because of your agressive way of questioning him and exposing him in the social media. And you can't just judge him from the way he looks. So next time remember your limits while reporting the news because you can't take the responsibility if a person dies or harm himself because of you.
I applause the good work honestly. And this is not a criticism but journalism has etiquettes and nuances lets be aware of that.
