Vod watchers, this is a absolute must watch: the draft was great and the race was INSANE. Can’t wait to watch it all over again today. 10/10 experience, alpharad I hope you continue to make these races and I love the ideas the racers threw out at the end where your team puts in custom gym trainer battles. Would be so fun!!
I'd really like to see this happen a third time. The cast is great, the games are hype asf, and the format is super entertaining! Thanks for the content Jacob!

A shiny pokemon in a race is a detriment since the shiny animation takes time and that time adds up. Making a pokemon shiny or not dependent on its price would be an interesting way to encourage people to either spend more or less than they otherwise would for a pokemon
Watching them all race was amazing. Flygon and PChal were crazy. Watchign them navigate the option menues was insane. Jacob did a really good job hosting but also the draft, pokmeon pick and etc were fantastic. I love the loss of a mon at each gym. Makes it so much harder but so much cooler to watch. I love the level cap candy. We can all spam a for rare candy, we are here for the skill, team building, insane plays and RNG. WACKO is a mad man. He just said "F it we ball" on so many occasions.
I think if you do change the gym leaders to have different teams next time, I think gradually giving info on them as the draft progresses might be a cool way to do it. Like, you reveal 1 at the start of the auction, then after every 8 pokemon drafted you reveal another gym leader team. Or perhaps, once any player goes below predefined money thresholds a new gym leader is revealed to everyone (so for example, maybe the elite 4 are only revealed once someone has spent at least half their money, for example). Just an idea to throw out there. Also, I just want to say that the sacrifice rule for each gym leader was a brilliant idea, and the whole event was a ton of fun!
Alpharad did the common marketing problem: "Oh, they wanted less Pokemon, so let's do less in the draft" but then also introduced a new mechanic that lessen the number of Pokemon.
Kind of a slight overcorrection but I feel like with this level of play it worked out near-flawlessly. I think if they were to do something more casual/nonsensical it might be a bit too much though.
Nuzlockes usually have a very deliberate and calculated vibe, but it seems like you’ve cooked up an exciting, speed-chess version. Extremely entertaining! Excellent work as always Alpha!
This is honestly one of the coolest pokemon challenges would love to see this in different games. I also think this was the perfect amount mons on the board and power level of mons drafted
Really glad you’re running this idea back and refining the ruleset! These are super exciting and I feel like there’s a lot of space to explore in terms of spicing it up for future iterations!
2:38:00 I like the idea of purchasable mints and capsules! Maybe they can also start with leftover draft money so there is still some incentive to not just dump all of your money.
4:42:10 ish They’re talking about teleport strats not working because you need PC access between gyms, but there are plenty of cases where you could access a PC without entering a center :) Most notably, you have a few battle tents around Mauville that give you access to a PC without adding much time. That could help keep the strats alive!
Stuff that I think would be interesting to draft: Early in the draft: - a Coin amulet or a Gold Nugget. Something to get the eco going - a Pikachu but with the announcement that a Light Ball will be drafted later seperately Middle of the draft: - a Leppa Berry. A cheeky item to be drafted in between - a pack of Sitrus Berries. 5 or so Late into the draft: - 1 Revive or a Pokémon that learns Revival Blessing (with the allowance to be used despite Nuzlocke rules). I just wonder how much people would drop for essentielly another use of a Pokémon with the knowledge of what they drafted so far - 1 swap. The highest bidder is allowed to swap 1 Pokémon of 1 player with 1 Pokémon from another player other than them General things that would be neat: - a counter of how many Pokémon/items are left in the drafting phase - put in something like a small mandatory ice sliding puzzle on the way. More stuff that is clearly just there to catch them offguard like the E4 joke in this race This was an awesome event^-^
I really like giving more choices to the players besides pokemon, since the bidding war is the most exciting part of the whole thing. The swap a Pokemon is a bit too strong and frustrating, imagine if someone drops overhalf their money and get their shit stolen for less than you paid.
@invertebrado I aggree the drafting is the most interesting part^^ 1) I feel like if you spend half your cash on a singular Pokémon that's kinda on you 2) It's an Alpharad event. You should expect chaos for the content 3) Since the Swapper presumeably wants to win surely they wouldn't swap so someone gets way stronger, right? I would like to believe that not directly gaining anything from a swap makes swapping more of a balancing action while also being an interesting concept to bid for
This was such a hype fucking end for the race. I thought for sure that flygon would get it for free with bundle on Drake+wallace when Jan couldn't oneshot everything with flutter mane, but then Jan looked like he had it with urshifu bulk up sweep but intim fucked him so hard. Absolutely a nail biter ending and i cant wait for everyone's videos
i do think alpharad is the perfect host for the semi-serious events. the events where the content is has a sense of whimsy to them yet has a very real prize pool or vice versa.
such a sick idea so glad to see a 2nd one do more do more only suggestion, i feel like all the custom rules are differentiating this a lot from a nuzlocke race, so maybe it's time to name the ruleset and entrench the series
3:02:12 not finished the video yet but commenting because i think this is funny, flygon actually has a bit of a history of getting a garchomp on his roster and then losing it in slightly unfortunate (sometimes planned) ways so i think it’s amusing that in this challenge he sac’ed the chomp before it could get taken out later when the loss would be bad for his momentum (not saying that was his thought process but from a viewer perspective i just think it’s kinda funny)
Absolutely STELLAR, I was enthralled every second of the way! Congratulations to the winner and also to every contestant. The sac clause makes things interesting for experienced nuzlockers! My suggestion for the next one would be to auction certain pokemon with guaranteed moves/abilities. The majority would be the same random chance but if a specific pokemon that is strong with a certain ability was guaranteed to have it the price would go up (random example Huge Power Marill). Another interesting thing would be to auction pokemon with held items, maybe berry, maybe nugget, maybe TM?
An option for further refinement re: choosing natures / abilities could be having some of the draft items be "a nature" or "an ability" (or even their choice of which) instead of another Pokemon. Like if the tenth pick was "a Pokemon of your choice in your box gets whichever Nature you want" and the twentieth was "a Pokemon of your choice gets whatever Ability you want" or whatever continuing through the whole draft. Whether its to help redeem an otherwise mediocre pick by giving it the better Ability or push a Pokemon over the top by guaranteeing a good Nature or whatever. Possible conditions include you can't use two of these on the same Pokemon (any you give a drafted Nature to can't get an Ability as well and vice versa) or the modified Pokemon is restricted to post-Flannery or cannot be used in the Elite 4 or whatever.
An interesting option (idk if it’s good) is doing the auction in a blind style with the Google ads style bids. Everyone writes down their bid price secretly, and the highest bid wins and pays the 2nd highest bid price. Just a thought. Might be too complex to follow but I think it’s easy to grasp after 2 or 3 rounds. Changes bidding strats. A separate idea, Might defeat the whole auction feel, but having at some point in the auction turn into a buy it now option. Eg: if its at 2.5k you can increase by 100 in auction style or double the price and lock it in. Leads to opportunities where if price is expected to go high but is moving up slowly by small increments it serves as a forcing function to get numbers close to actual value quickly.
Idea for next time - have a screenshot of the google sheets with player's current balance during the auction stage. It would be relatively low production effort and would allow people to follow along easier
if you are going to add mints and ability patches, you should have a rom creator make every Boss Fight harder. It looked like this run turned into "what powerhouse can i create" I would like to see everyone wiping be a constant factor, adds a sense of doom and hope to the run more than just Who can click A the fastest
I love this. Sadly cant really watch these live, but I have an idea: When they buy a pokemon, they can double the end price to get ability of their choice.
I know you have a million people with a million ideas but who knows might be unique: draft options for starting money, items, crappy pokemon with good items, dupes of mons but the second is guaranteed to have good ability, draft an advantage like a leader has one less mon or some other way to save time? personal bonuses from draft sound insane where you have less mons overall but possible time saved!
It probably wouldn't be too difficult to essentially reverse engineer trainers' teams to be futureproofed for later races and be put anywhere. Like a gym 8 Brock or a gym 1 Larry. Between the PWT and the battle facilities that came every gen afterwards, most if not all league trainers have postgame teams that show them "without holding back" that you guys could work with.
I think an interesting gimmick with ditto besides haha heres a ditto would be that at the end of the draft when u have the ditto he can make a copy of someone else on your team so you get two of any mon on your roster
Bundles idea: 2 mon bundle, 2 players can go in on it together, if 2 players split it, they can decide the amount they each contribute and the mons they each get, or they can coin flip the mons. Coin flip is premium content especially if it’s like Ditto and Mew pair or another pairing that makes sense lore wise, but one is much stronger than the other.
What could be good for future drafts. I’m not sure but instead of ability capsule you can buy, they instead get any ability from that Pokemon, maybe even hidden but that Pokémon’s nature is the worst one it gets, i don’t know.
Amazing suit, amazing video ♥ P.S: pairs of pokemon for the draft seems like a good idea imo, get the process going faster and can lead to unexpected teambuilding !
An Idea that crossed my mind: How about in draft you only can draft a certain amount of mons. So you can only draft like 16 mons and after that you're finished and the others can get cheaper mons. Edit: Also let the amount of the draft mons be equal to the amount of mons needed.

I love how Jan sends the show immediately off the rails with his delayed appearance. 😎 edit: I feel bad. Buddy was stressed trying to get his obs to not hate him.
Rule could be to reroll as much as they want, but it needs to be part of their race time? Ie. you take the extra time restarting the game and checking the things you're looking for? If it ends up not being enough of a punishment, just say +30-60 seconds timeout per reroll in addition or something like that?
would be interesting next time to have trading available halfway through the draft and at the and so that trades can use funds to balance the scales. plus it might give people low on funds to gamble away a mon for a chance for a better one later by selling it off
It would be cool to try a blind bidding version. Where everyone has 30 seconds to come up with a bid and reveal it when time is up. highest walks away with the mon, no further bidding. This way we get to see what everyone values each mon at. (Might also cut down the draft time to 1hour-1:30 ish)
Yeah he doesn't really have that good of a cadence, he doesn't always do the countdown in a consistent way. But oh well, he's still a very fun host, and with him being pretty much the host, auctioneer and having to look a lot of stuff up and communicating with his modders I think we can forgive a lot of stuff; plus this is just something for fun, with no real stakes among friends, makes it so it doesn't really ruin the vibe for me
@Ironpecker Agree, the auctioneering wasnt great but it was still really fun overall! I think the really quick countdowns and not being consistent with bids are what I noticed the most.
@@fruitycatfairy there’s plenty of times where you can see the guests get excited and alpharad fails capitalizing on the energy in the call. Idea for next time: If a pokemon is sold for 10k or more, it also becomes Shiny
A shiny pokemon in a race is a detriment since the shiny animation takes time and that time adds up. Making a pokemon shiny or not dependent on its price would be an interesting way to encourage people to either spend more or less than they otherwise would for a pokemon
That would be a punishment rather than an award
@@Bergzbot oh you're not wrong about that. Could be fun if they removed the shiny animation in the build though
Why would they care if it’s shiny?
@Toru_Adachi it's just added flair for a pokemon fhat sold for a very high price
The thing I would most like from these streams is the ability to listen in when they're strategizing.
Either listening in or a quick post draft interview with each runner (how they're feeling, what's their strategy, anything they aren't sure about etc)
Watching them all race was amazing. Flygon and PChal were crazy. Watchign them navigate the option menues was insane. how dare youtube hide this from me for 6 seconds

2 hours TWO HOURS IT HIS IT FROM MEE YOU KNOW WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE IN THAT TIME 2 HOUR WORTH OF VIDEO
It'd be super sick to see the champion battle being replaced with whoever won the race's team.
Honestly, amazing idea
Miraidon not being the final mon is crazy when zorua was literally mimicing it smdh.
Carvanha's price being 4.1K HIGHER then the $500 it costed last round is insane

I'd like to see the high end pokemon in the middle of the draft and really hit on someone's ability to plan and reserve funds for future rounds

I think an interesting gimmick with ditto besides haha heres a ditto would be that at the end of the draft when u have the ditto he can make a copy of someone else on your team so you get two of any mon on your roster
Bundles idea:
2 mon bundle, 2 players can go in on it together, if 2 players split it, they can decide the amount they each contribute and the mons they each get, or they can coin flip the mons.
Coin flip is premium content especially if it’s like Ditto and Mew pair or another pairing that makes sense lore wise, but one is much stronger than the other.
