  • As makers we have high expectations related to our work. The same goes for quilters. Even beginners expect perfection they know from social media. And more often as not we are too harsh with our results and we get discouraged. In today’s video I want to show you a simple trick how to look at your work from a bit different angle. I hope it will help you to see your quilting in a bit different light.

Hi Patricia! This is a very simple video, but sometimes it is good to go back to basics. Sometimes I have daubts about my quilting and then the change of view helps me to see the potential. Also, it is good to understand what we are doing....❤❤❤

Thank you so much for this lesson. I appreciate having the opportunity to actually see how you are moving the fabric and the beauty of simple lines. I will be practicing this😊

This pattern is sometimes underrated but I start with it every time I have a beginner in my class.... it is not about perfection of the form but the resulting texture. Once you see it, there is no going back.

This is a stitch I use often. It is amazing how the light plays with the texture.

Your distinction between mere mortals and professionals is spot on. Beautiful approach and teaching style. Muscle memory is foundational for most hand skills to include artisanal and trades.

Exactly! also, first we learn sewing patchwork, then quilting. We are used to perfection and quilting is bringing us back to Earth! We have to accept we are not perfect, we have to learn all the time....It helped me to let go of perfectionism and I am a better person for it ❤❤❤

Just the exact tutorial I needed on this topic !! I am afraid of freemotion, and now feel empowered to do it. I have a fab machine, and all the materials, and now have the knowledge to do it. Thank you so much.

You are very welcome! FMQ is scary at the beginning. Our expectations and skills are not matching....Start with simple things, embrace the mistakes and go on.... Quilting teaches a lot and I am really a better person becasue of it! I am keeping my fingers crossed. Let me know how it goes!❤❤❤

@@quiltingnerd Within minutes of seeing your tutorial, I set my machine up and achieve the very same stitch you demonstrated!!! I then went to do it around a quilt I have recently finished. It used a complete bobbin, but I learned the basics, all thanks to you. Blessings.
