Is THIS the new Advance Wars? | NEW Warside Full Demo Impressions
At 49:05 you said it was a bug that it sometimes ends your turn and sometimes doesn't - but you had an infantry that hadn't moved so that's why it didn't lol
Good spot...this was my live reaction playing as I went so I likely didnt notice and thought I had moved it already!
49:51
Actually you can deploy up to three unites per barracks/factory/etc.. if it is at 10 hp. If I remember, if it has 6-9hp you can deploy 2, and under 6hp you can deploy 1.
Ohhh is that the reason why? I didn't even notice or realise that was the reason why. Thanks for the info!
I threw a playlist together of this demo too and im super impressed you did this all in 1 go. I had to try multiple times for the first 2 desert levels, there are definitely a lot of interesting mechanics going on that make it fun!
The last one was a bit challenging in the free-for-all at a first glance but I think the AIs 's stupidity worked on my favour. What do you make of it so far?
@@ShikiKiryu last mission i just invaded their outer cities through the mountains with infantry while they fought in the middle haha. i never played advanced wars or anything similar, but this was quite enjoyable. I did utilize the trucks more than IFVs because i often tried rushing pairs of cities turn 1 since they can hold 2 units for cheap
@@Mikezinj I do highly reccommend Advance Wars, its such a fun series but also, Into the Breach, Wargroove and XCOM if you want to try more games in this genre. Another I love thats very underrated is Invisible Inc, thats a phenomenal game. Maybe check out my Reboot Camp playlist to get a taster for what Advance Wars is like too if you fancy. :) I appreciate your comments and checking us out!
In the mission with the t-copters, I completely skipped the dialogue saying that you can load vehicles in it, so I only deployed my infantry. I had to restart so many times, I got a little frustrated, especially since I had a perfectly good rocket I thought couldn't do anything! It was like my 5th attempt I realized lol.
In case you didn't know, you actually can move the t-copter first, then move your units out! It's kinda broken because you can completely capture an enemies factory in one turn with a t-copter full of infantry.
I was trying to work out how to do that but mechanically it wasnt obvious the input order, it was a little clunky to use but it felt like I should have been able to do that. I just couldnt work it out in the moment, haha.
@@ShikiKiryu I do agree with you about the clunky-ness. If you accidentally misclick, there's no way to recover. I've missed a few captures like that.
Thankfully it's just a demo. So I hope these quirks will be ironed out!
You could convince me this is a mod for Advance Wars.
Agreed!
Yeah, it really does look like it could be. An art-pass mod or something!
@@lillianfoxmcqueen1041 I think a couple of those exist? I'm not sure. I know theres a couple of mods for custom COs as well as the custom campaigns we've been looking at.
I ended up just spamming infantry and tanks. the AI is hellbent on capturing the buildings you just captured which makes it easier as you can attack their tanks while it just focuses on the building.
Yeah, it does seem to hyper-fixate on that I noticed. Tanks seem to just be the best unit in the game at the moment too?
@ShikiKiryu in advance wars it was pretty common to spam infantry and tanks too. Medium tanks were slow and expensive. Artillery good too. Artillery or rocket is must have in the maps with lots of bottlenecks though.
@@ziljin Aye, I like to play Jess/Jake a lot so not unfamiliar :P But in AW it made you want to build more unit variety and rewarded you for using them well with a strategy. Here its...pretty mindless and don't really need one so can just zerg-rush. I do have a few AW playlists if you want to check those out ^-^
@ShikiKiryu neat. Would be neat to see some war room playthroughs. They take longer but require some strategy and often aggressive capturing otherwise the AI just snowballs and its a complete slog.
@@ziljin Yknow, I have considered a LP of The War Room for a while but I never got around to it. And unsure which game to do it on. Probably 2, its better and harder than Dual Strike is.
makes sense Medics cant heal tanks. probably need a Mechanic or Engineer unit for that
Yeah, I think they should add an engineer-type infantry like the medic who can do that.
Tried the Demo, needs a lot more polish.
I don't disagree!
It looks...promising I think is the word? The art style is nice but it does look half finished but I suppose it is a demo.
Promising is a good word, yeah!
Why woul anyone settle for the knock off when thy can just as easily play advance wars rebootcamp?
Well...Reboot Camp as good as it is, is just 20 year old games re-packaged. This is trying something a bit different I suppose? Its promising to be, so Im curious. Time will tell if it is going to be better though, for now I am unsure how to think about it.
@@ShikiKiryu you just admitted this is a knock off of a 20 year old game XD everything ive seen is just the diet coke of advance wars, they didnt even bother to make each factions units different.
@@MARStheFORSAKEN No, I said re-boot camp was re-packaged games that were 20 years old. I don't disagree with you that this needs some polish with things such as unit sprites etc, absolutely it does. Time will tell if this truly DOES live up to its promises to be different, but I dont think they pretended it wasn't. Iit is clearly inspired by AW, but also Wargroove and other SRPG titles. People don't say XCOM is a knock-off of Final fantasy Tactics just because it has similar gameplay elements :P If anything that makes Fire Emblem a knock-off of Advance Wars as it came 2 years later, right? It has similar elements too. We'll have to see when more of this comes out, if they update the demo or release an open beta or something what else this can do.
@@MARStheFORSAKEN Reboot Camp costs $60. I’m pretty sure Warside will be sold at a fracture of that price.
@@Oridginale24 ya and bread is a fraction of the price of a sandwich.
