    I tried these mufflers on my 2008 f150, 5.4 with short headers, hi flow cats, true duals, each with magnaflow magnapacks 10416, is it crackled so bad I couldn't even drive it. Sounded like no muffler. I took them off and put them on my stock 2007 ram 1500 5.7 Hemi and they sound totally different. No cackle. Deep rumble. Mechanic said it's cause the ford has the headers and stuff. So I switched the true duals to y pipe into a single carven tr muffler and y pipe back to duals . Now it only pops a bit but it's still not the sound I want. The magnapacks sounded great at idle and low rev, its once they started to cackle at medium rpm I couldn't handle and it sounded horrible. If I decide to go back to magnapacks, I guess I need to put the rest of exhaust system back to stock? I want it to sound deep and throaty without cackling . Could I also run two magnapacks in series on each pipe? On dual mufflers on a single pipe?

    Do you have 2 or 4 catalytic converters? I know some f150 come with 2 and some come 4 cats from 04 and somewhere in 05 and up they went to 2 catalytic converters

    This video convinced me to get this same muffler and mine doesn’t sound anything like yours. Same year same engine same everything. It doesn’t idle as loud as yours. Do you think a Magnaflow tip may make it louder?

    Thanks for the clip, been looking at one myself. Quick question, that ticking sound at 0:43-0:46 that starts and stops.....Do you have any idea what that is? Mine does the same thing and has for years but can’t figure out what it is. Mine resonates in the right cat on the stethoscope.

      Huh... never heard it until I checked your timestamp! Strange that it stops / starts. Maybe a change in sound due to the AC compressor coming on or off? Good question.

      PiedmontTiger yeah it’s strange. Don’t hear anything on the tailpipe, valve cover gaskets etc. maybe it’s a loose manifold gasket moving around. I’ll just see if it gets worse or blows itself up. Haha.

      If its what I think it is thats the valve body click i know the 5.4 is REALLY bad about it I know to get rid of the valve tick on mine i went with 10-30 oil n put in lucas to make it a little thicker but I know at a low rpm id say between 1000 n 1300ish you have a slight upper valve click that drives me nuts sounds like a damn diesel

      @@ac19189mobile That is a good suggestion, I started putting 5-30 in this one as well as my 2010 (Also 5.4) last year and I think it does quiet them down some.

    How much did it cost you for install and the muffler etc? Sounds good

      +crashingkid Thanks for the comment! iI think it is a good sounding muffler as well, and it has gotten a bit deeper as it has broken in. I got the muffler on eBay (new) for about $65, and the tip for around $25. I got a piece of pipe from Advance Auto which was under $10, and an exhaust clamp for like $2 or $3. I had a friend help me weld it in, so luckily that was free!

      +PiedmontTiger ohh that's awesome
      How is the drone on the highway? That's my biggest concern when looking to upgrade my
      Exhaust, besides price

      +crashingkid I would say that it is not too bad at all. The exhaust is "loudest" between, I'd say, 2200 and 3200 RPM. After that, it is mostly just engine noise. That being said, going down the highway, my truck runs about 1900-2000, so you can hear it, but it doesn't rattle around the cab or deafen you. When the truck is in overdrive at speed, it's pretty tame. The shorter the muffler, generally the louder it will be. The stock F-150 one i removed was something like 26 or 22 inches, and this one is a 14", so there's a big difference. The good thing is that there are so many brands and sizes that there is sure to be one that strikes in your zone of sound. I love having upgraded mine, and I would say go for it!

    Do you have catalytic converters still??

    • @piedmonttiger265
      @piedmonttiger265  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, the cats are still stock. One thing to note is that sometime in '05 they switched the number of cats, so some will have 2 and some will have 4.

    what's that little digital screen you have on the inside of your truck?

    • @piedmonttiger265
      @piedmonttiger265  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jlt5304 Hey, thanks for the comment! That little thing is an Ultra-Gauge 2 OBDII scanner. It reads sensor data from the truck's computer and allows you to watch different parameters. For my truck, it has something like 50 different gauges that it can display, but it varies from vehicle to vehicle; I think they have a list on their website of what to expect it to be able to show. Mine is also pretty old (the Ultra-Gauge), so I bet the newer ones have improved capabilities. It was only about $60, and I think it is a cool little gizmo to have. I may do a little video on it soon just to show some features. Thanks again!

    Does it pop or crack when running at higher rpm? Thanks

    • @piedmonttiger265
      @piedmonttiger265  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I rev it in park it will pop some, but not under daily driving conditions. Thanks for watching!

      It's called an Ultra-Gauge, just an OBDII display. I've got a video about it, thanks for watching!

    • @piedmonttiger265
      @piedmonttiger265  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't very bad once the truck kicks into overdrive or settles out. That being said, I might get annoyed if I were pulling a trailer which kept me out of OD all the time.
