  • Wire Wrapping TUTORIAL - Mini Pendant using a single half round wire. Heady style wire wrap.
    Learn to use a single 15 inch, half round wire to create this beautiful heady style wire wrapped pendant frame. This is a wonderful one wire mini pendant technique, but it's a bit harder than it might look at first.
    NOTE: It has come to my attention that I should note, if you are using a stone larger than the one I'm showing in this video, please consider to add a couple of inches or more (depending on how large your stone is), so that you can complete the design. The cab in this video is 12mm height x 9mm wide x 5mm depth.
    In this wire wrapping technique, you will learn how to create, what I call my Processus pendant frame. It's a continuous, one wire, flow to create both the frame structure and the design elements. I hope you have fun! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this style.
    I'm using 15 inches of 16 gauge half round, half hard, sterling silver wire. Because the wire is larger, you can also use dead soft wire. You can also use 18g half round and a slightly smaller stone.
    The cab is a sweet little Labradorite 12mm height x 9mm wide x 5mm depth.
    Half round wire (for the newbie) is flat on one side and has a dome on the other side. Meaning this wire has a 'direction' that it needs to face all the time while you're building this pendant.
    Half round wire is also a bit hard to bend on it's edge. It tends to want to turn on you during the curve, so sometimes, you need to keep it flat and facing the right direction.
    NOTE: Until your wire passes your stone a few times, the stone will be very loose while working, so be sure to protect it and work over a pad and a well lit surface.

    Just stumbled onto your TH-cam channel a short time ago and love your videos! This particular pendant will work for a gift I'm trying to make for a family member who doesn't like ornate or baroque styles. Thanks for all you do! :)

    I wonder if I could do this with square wire 🤔..I don't have thick enough half round..but I love this look..so beautiful 😍 💖 💗

      I think that this exact design might be troublesome with 18 or even 20g square wire when you get to the lower left part of the frame... threading square wires that tightly might not work out as you'd want it to. Watch this one... it's quite similar but uses two round wires, weaved together... round wire would have similar bulk as square wire vs half round is quite different... this one might work better for you using square. th-cam.com/video/mVDTNRj4bTk/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps! You can always simply try it, use copper first? Let me know how it goes, have fun best of all! :)

    😲 Oh wow!...I'm in awe of how BEAUTIFUL this is & how easy you make it look! I hope I can pull this off, however I've just figured out (after a few years of playing) that my wire is too hard for wrapping..🙄🤦‍♀️...wish me luck!

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do it! I always work with soft wire... especially for intricate designs where bends are tight, you need the flexibility of it. Hard wire has it's place for certain jewelry, but for me, not for wire wrapping or weaving. I can never get elegance from hard wire. Have fun!

    Oh I love this style!!! I don’t have any 16 gauge half round (only 18 gauge) so I might give this a try with some regular old round wire haha. I know it won’t have the same effect but oh well. Thank you for the tutorial 😊

      Go for it! Use the 18g half round my dear, it will work just great, small stone. Have fun!!

    That's absolutely beautiful. I have a major problem with half round wire, I never seem to be able to stop it from twisting on me.

      Thanks Sarah, it's hard to keep level, but I use nylon jaw pliers as I work (see it in the video)... I hope you give it a try, I was turned onto it by Raftark (TH-cam wire artist), he's got some amazing tutorials too, give it a try! Thanks for your comment my friend!

    I love your tutorials! I really appreciate you sharing your beautiful work.
    But I only have 18 gauge half round wire. Not sure if that would be strong or Secure enough to hold the stone. I was like working with materials I have instead of trying to buy them online. Do you think this would work with any 18 gauge round or square wire?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sandy thank you for a lovely comment!! You can use the 18g half round if you use a smaller stone (8mm works) or a bit smaller. If you go larger stone, then you really need bigger wire. I have another video with this same wrap, using 2 wires of 18g round and 28g round weaving wire. You might watch them both and then decide if you can do some variation with the wires you have onhand . Thanks again!! I hope that helps.

    Great tutorial, very well made and easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful ideas with the rest of us. I made it with a small very narrow oval Larimar, I think the narrow oval shape made it a bit more challenging as it kept moving from left to right. I am excited to try it again with a wider oval or a round cabochon. I will take a picture and post on my Instagram @Mauimermaidgifts and tag you in it :-)
    I had taken a break from making jewelry for over 3 months, lost my inspiration, but you brought it back! Thanks again!

    Awe boo I just tried this and ran out of wire pretty fast. I must be making the pendant too tall or something. I recommend people use way more than 15in on the first try, especially if the stone is even the slightest bit bigger

    It is a lovely piece but I could not see all of what you did with your hands as they were behind the darkened area and the white writing, If you could move your hands or camera a little towards the right, we can see your hands and workings. Thanks for sharing!
