Hi Olivia, thank you for this lovely comment! If you are fairly new, you can get the standard needle file set, here's a link to RioGrande.com which is a jewelry supply site and where I order most things. www.riogrande.com/product/needle-file-set-cut-2-set-of-12/114257 The files can get very expensive, so start with these... see if you like to use files of this size, and how much you actually use them, which shapes, etc... and then if you find you need them, you can look to a 'better set'... I only use these (the ones I sent you in the link) even tho I'm a world wide seller, I don't always spend tons on things like files. You use them very slightly (rough sandpaper would work too) and I often use small rolled up pieces of 400++ grit sandpaper. I use files on ends of larger wires that take a bit more to smooth. I hope that helps! You could probably find these files in the local Hobby or Michael's craft stores too (or a local bead store) call or google before you head out, or you can order them from Rio ;) Depends on where you are and if your local stores carry them... the local Hardware store might also carry a small set. Have fun!
I love this....but wanted to know...when you sand the wire with sand paper....doesn't that give the wire a brushed look.....not smooth n shiny....???? But thank you for such a great tutorial on how too............take care...........hugssss
Yes it does... sanding the metal will give it a 'brushed' look, but this is one step in several before the jewelry is finished... you can reduce the 'brushed' look by either using higher grit sandpaper and/or polishing. After I shape, sand, wrap, the metal, I continue to finish it by polishing under a rotary tool. I hope that helps! Thanks again!

I use flush cutters to prevent the ragged edge, and file before I form the wire.
That's a good way too. I tend to form first. I could use some new cutters too, my 100 pair are all well used. 🤣🌺💐🌻
