    I love how you have started us with some basic skills (securing the stone, forming the wire around a frame, etc.) and then building on those things, adding more and more layers of design and skill. Sign of a great teacher. 😍. Also, even though you said that you had used the shorter 22ga to wrap the bail and (I’m assuming) planned to make the wraps extend to the front, I prefer the way it ended up. A cleaner look. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to try this.

    Thank you for your very informative and helpful tutorial - today I tried it and started with the mistake using a bigger stone - I realy have to learn by practice - for the second try with a 14 x 10mm stone I used 50cm - that worked perfect 🤣

    Could this design be used for a bigger cab using 16 gauge? If so, what would be the maximum sized cab?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good morning, Seer! This is a tight wrap... it's using 18g, square soft wire on a small cab... if you size up to 16g, on the same size stone, it will be difficult on the bigger wire... you can try this on a cab that is perhaps 10 to 12mm... maybe 14mm... still keep in mind that this wrap will be hard on your hands at 16g. I hope that helps! Please keep me posted on how you do. Welcome again, to Membership!❤️🙏❤️

    How would you suggest starting off if I have a small square/rectangle stone?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Kera, this is probably not the best wrap for a small square or rectangle stone. There are a few channels that have good wraps for that shape, you might search TH-cam... I don't have anything like this wrap for a small square or rectangle. Thanks for watching here! I will keep that in mind for future videos.

    i am a bit of a beginner and I am trying this. I have tried about 8 times to get the cabochon secured and have not done it yet. Any tips? I am not stopping till I get this.

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment and your determination, Robert! Since you tell me you are beginner, I will share.... most Cabochon (cut stone, no hole, flat back, curved top)... are curved on the face of the stone.... where the curve almost meets the edge of the stone, I call the 'shoulder or soft shoulder' of the stone.... the wire has to at least, ride over this shoulder to hold the stone in place. Without knowing if it's the stone you're not quite fully wrapping or if it's the tension on your wire not fully hugging the stone, this is the best I can guess for now. Try to give me a bit more detail. I hope this helps. I am at the show, but will try to reply as I can... I might be late in doing that for a few days but I will try to help you. Thanks again!

      @@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry Wow.. thank you so much for your response. I saw this tutorial and loved the look so I wanted to try to make one for my niece who is getting married in November (so I still have time to get it down). Actually, I am not sure which problem I have. When I get to the point where you turn your over, mine always falls out so it could be that I am not getting over the shoulder, or it is loose. I figure my fingers are not holding the cabochon tightly enough and causing the wire not to be tight enough ore over the shoulder. I know I can do this so even if it takes all 15' of my wire trying, I'll get more and keep going. LOL No hurry in your response and I wish you well at the show. On to attempt #7.

    would you be able to use the same procedure on a stone measuring 25x19x8 mm, aside from making the cradle a bit bigger?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for asking, you probably could, Bill... It would be my habit then to also increase the size of the wire to 18 gauge and certainly, you'd need more length by a few inches. Because the coil then would be large, if you have too much movement, even after the designs on the side, you might consider to give a stitch or a few to the coiled cup... certainly best to discover this before you cover around it, so before side designs, if you feel you need it. I hope that makes sense? You could use a bit of 22g half and 'weave' through the coils (if you know how to weave) or use 28g or 26g for a few stitches. If you need further help, I might be able to show a picture tomorrow? Let me know. Today I have Membership Livestream to give, so it's a busy day for me. Thanks again!

      Hi; I am really struggling to capture this bigger stone, its sliding all over the place, think I will try a smaller stone, I don't want to get over frustrated, as I am just beginning and wonder if I shouldn't start on another simpler project.

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't get frustrated, it's wise to take a break... if you are set on wrapping this particular big stone in this setting, I'll do a quick video for you. If you love the setting and the stone is optional... I'd try a smaller stone first. Ovals are a little trickier too... Maybe I'll do a quick one for you in these next couple days if you can just pause on that larger stone for minute.
      Forgive me if you already said... can I ask how long you've been wrapping wire? Just so I can imagine your hands and what you might need for help? Thank you!

    So the cradle, does it need to cover the entire base of the stone, or just the majority of it?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd try to center it and while it doesn't have to 'cover it' all, it should spiral evenly until you reach the edges of your cab... you can shift it with slight fingernail pressure to make it sit right. It will help the stone stay center... plus I don't know if you're wrapping any stitches or not, so best to stay as center as possible is my ESP on this.... ;)
