Fun Fact: In the Resident Evil 1 Novelization (Because of course that's a thing, and of course I read it, I read the fucking Sonic the Hedgehog novels as a kid.) Barry Burton's weird quips and odd voice acting is still in it, As A Plot Point. It claims he's talking weird because he's nervous about his family, and he's trying to make shitty jokes and such to hide that he's shitting himself over his wife and kid's safety. Yes, they tried to retcon "No, it's not his VA that's a bad actor, HE is a bad actor." This does not explain the quality of anyone else's dialogue.
"This is something silly that my pal and I recorded together." Hearing this from the perspective of someone who has fallen in love with this podcast, remembering all the games, laughs, and or course the all too important addition of the third musketeer, Neil, this podcast and format has come so far and has made its way into one of the top slots of go to listening for me. You guys are excellent 👏
I'm kind of disappointed you didn't really drive home just how bad a day Leon was having in RE2. He has just arrived in Raccoon City for the first time that morning, to start his very first day of work as a rookie cop, his girlfriend had just broken up with him the night before, and he gets there to find that EVERYTHING IS COVERED IN ZOMBIES.
Watching this after the kingdom hearts series is hilarious. Hearing the kh lore master say this is too many characters by game two when there is twice as many people chilling in the apartment complex sora is running in his heart at any given time.
I sincerely do not mean the following as a personal slight: a lot of chase's complaints are pretty 'cinemasins'-esque, like contesting things the narrative states as fact because the exact process wasn't explained (Mr X being programmed). I don't mean to harp on the point, just something that stood out to me while listening.
Okay, I know this is 5 months old, but regarding Mr. X: if you knock his hat off, you might notice that there are metal diodes present on his head. While we don't see it, we might presume that his brain has mostly been replaced and he's essentially a computer piloting a fleshy (albeit very tough) body. He might even be remote controlled for all we know!
I do sincerely hope this episode gets remade both to see it in the new format and so its given a chance to better explain some stuff like the differences between the g and t viruses and the differences between a tyrant like mr.x and nemasis
I have to say, out of all the Lore Dumps that have happened on this channel, this has to be one of my favourites. I've never been a huge RE fan, but I've known enough through gaming osmosis about what's going on, and listening to someone else getting a rundown is just like, "Yeah, it really does go off the rockers quite quickly." Also, I'll never not hear Jirard from Scary Game Squad singing "GRANDMA'S THE ENDBOSS" at 3:37:00. 🤣It's such a great playthrough, I think I'm gonna watch it again after this.
The best thing about RE lore is that they manage to make it more and more convoluted by just reapplying things over and over again. It's like constantly repainting a wall an weirder and weirder forms and colors keep popping up. I think you'll have a blast listening to the Critical Drinker's Happy Hour on the Resident Evil movie series lore, it's the games dialed up to 11 in terms of weirdness.
(Reposting my comments over here to add some interaction for the new uploads!) Oh man, Chris being one of the major big bads for RE8 would have been FANTASTIC. Obviously he was giving off baddie vibes early on, but it seemed real strange after the ending of RE7 (which was my first full RE experience, an absolute horror masterclass for the first 2/3), so I didn't peg him as a big bad--but knowing way more about the series at this point, it would have been SO narritively satisfying. As always, another fantastic Lore Dump!!! So sad I've now watched all that are out (somehow??? I honestly didn't expect to make it through the behemoth KH series from the hour count alone, but you guys are so fantastic to listen to), but I love your conent in general, look forward to the next release, and will slowly but surely be watching through the channel's back catalog a little slower, haha. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and fantastic videos!
Here we go, just played through all the RE games, now playing VIII. Loving Chase trying to argue about the kingdom hearts games not being as convoluted, having watched that series several times now. 4 hours versus 30+ hours. Those claims did not age well.
So the story alone amazing as always, but man chase commentary is by far thee funniest thing ive ever listened to. Just of you can imagine having this downloaded snd jist lostening at work and me stopping to laugh my ass off every 5 damn seconds lol. Thank yall absolute legends
My only knowledge of resident evil is everyone thirsting for either Leon, vampire lady or Carlos, and Leon's japanese voice being Sephiroth...which made me watch resident evil darkness netflix thing, it wasn't good. But this is. :'D After video: I need village lore dump! :D
Only 4 hours? Must be a cliff notes version. Also, I could hear him dying a bit inside when you said "27 games". If only he knew the true horror of the entirely separate canon movie series, the actually canon to the main timeline animated movies, and TV shows. Christ, I love this mess of a series.
I love this stuff and I love this channel and I have to say this just in case someone else sees it. They are conflating the T&g viruses thinking they're the same thing and that causes most of his issues with the inconsistencies of virus infection stuff in the resident evil 3 game. The T virus and the g virus are different viruses that function differently and infected different people. They have consistent rules but for their own virus T virus makes the zombies g virus makes the mutants
Take a shot everytime Chase says "helllll yeahhhhh" and you'll end up in the hospital real quick. To be fair that is the appropriate reaction for most things said in this video
I love the claim that Zelda invented eyes as a weak spot. I'm sure Homer was very inspired by Ocarina of Time before he decided how Odysseus would defeat Polyphemus. In the 7th century BCE.
11:45 I'm glad the remake changed Wesker's hatred of Chris to being because Chris killing the Tyrant stopped Wesker selling it to a rival company of Umbrella's. In the 1996 original he swore an 11 year grudge against him for laughing at the Tyrant.
I found Monty's Bioshock analysis video & was like ONLY THIS, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LORE DUMPS, GLAD THEY'RE ON ANOTHER CHANNEL, but now I'm here after watching the 7 RE videos, because watching this actually kinda sounds like a good time lol Monty is a really fun creator!
34:14 Resident Evil 2 and 4 remake Leon actually reacts to Ada's betrayal realistically, calling her out for using him to steal the G-Virus. Original series Leon on the other hand spends the rest of his life obsessing over a woman who pretends to care about him so she can use him to steal virus and parasite samples, threatens to shoot him then runs off.
2:44:35 I've gotta agree with Chase. Capcom's pretended since the original RE2 that Ada's this complicated morally ambiguous character even though there's no moral ambiguity in Resident Evil because its writing's not good enough for that. She's a villain who delivers viruses and parasites to companies just as bad as Umbrella was. They also keep playing up how "mysterious" she is and it's gotten old because we've learned nothing about her past in the 26 years since original RE2 came out in 1998.
I know a bunch of stuff was missed here, and part of me wants to rant and ramble about that, but, instead: Is there any chance this will be redone some day? Your later videos on this channel seem more in depth and prepared, and there is the newer content, movies, and a bunch of side content that could be at the least looked at for a minute even if it's just "Then there was Survivor, this this and this happens, done.". Revelations 1+2 is pretty solidly part of the canon and got skipped. Resident Evil Re:Visited.
Now understanding the resident evil series sometimes has a lot of plot holes and I get it a lot of people don't understand but as a serious re-found that grew up with the whole thing is this really kind of hurts me hearing this
Finally got around to this one and I pretty much had your friend's reaction the whole way through (apart from Leon's hair, which was definitely better in RE4)
I just discovered this channel and this is amazing and hilarious. I don't know if you still read comments but I have to know did your friend (Chase? not sure I heard the name properly) end up playing REVIII? If so what did he think of mold "science". Honestly the rant about how the virsus make no sense scientifically was the best thing.
Enrico was not bitten by a snake, and veronica was the ancestor of the Ashford family not a wife, and RE4 is set 6 years after code veronica hahah 😅😂 Oh gosh
20 mins in and minor correction RE1 doesn’t have a zapping system but the original RE2 does. OG RE2 does it so much better than the remake does. RE2Make is a great game and basically on par but I do wish it was closer. Listened to it a minute further and yeah re2 is a T Virus outbreak. The only G creatures are Birkin and the things he spawns.
25 mins and “Is Mr. X related to the T or G viruses?” “I don’t know. Never explained.” Really? You don’t think the T-virus which stands for Tyrant virus is related to the manufacture of Tyrant bioweapons? It’s stated explicitly in RE1. Tyrants and hunters and stuff are projects and designed and zombies are just unplanned side effects of the virus infecting random ppl. It’s why you can program certain behaviours into stuff like tyrants and hunters to go after a target Gonna stop adding comments tho cos I’ve done too many within half an hour lol (In a better world this shoulda been broken up into multiple parts so you would not have to squish it into one video and make mistakes. But I get from listening to the control vids you guys don’t get the opportunity to record like this)
I agree that the end of 7 feels a little weird but I think its because they include .Big bad becomes massive bad. .Fan fav delivers weapon. .Big monster dies. as the last three plot points in their design process for most ResEvs
This guy who's never played RE is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I couldn't even get through half the video due to his constant interjection. As a first-time listener, this guy is the reason I won't be listening again. Yikes.
Fun Fact: Resident Evil 7 was too scary so they made Resident Evil 8 more like an action adventure as a response to those complaints, because people were honestly complaining that the horror game was too scary.
*DISCLAIMER*
Thanks for being here! This episode is a reupload, transferring our backlog of Lore Dumps from the Monty Zander youtube channel.

Yes, they tried to retcon "No, it's not his VA that's a bad actor, HE is a bad actor."
This does not explain the quality of anyone else's dialogue.
Did you read the novelization for Metal Gear Solid?
It's great. The child soldier theme park was my favorite moment.
"This is something silly that my pal and I recorded together." Watching this after the KH series is definitely the superior order. Chase, on RE2: "There are too many characters". The irony is delicious.
Dont forget that he was nursing a really bad hangover because of said girlfriend.
Sounds like the perfect recipe to let out zombie killing urges and anger lol
I dunno, I've had some Monday mornings that have come close to that.
When i was watching playthroughs of 2, i think the worst part is seeing the messed up welcome party stuff.
He ran through the series like an orgy lol
1:46:20 every time I re-listen to this part in 4
RE4, hearing Chase just break down into the bullcrap magic territory is pure joy
It's certainly interesting to see how unstructured this started before chase had to implement structure to the confusion that is kingdom hearts
Watching this after the kingdom hearts series is hilarious. Hearing the kh lore master say this is too many characters by game two when there is twice as many people chilling in the apartment complex sora is running in his heart at any given time.

54:40 Looking for logic in a Resident Evil story? There's your problem right there. Capcom made their slogan "stop asking questions" for a reason!
For anyone new to RE, helps to know the series in Japan is named "Biohazard" whenever things get extra mutanty
Just a correction, but in RE2, it was the T-virus that the rats had eaten, which had infected them.
I do sincerely hope this episode gets remade both to see it in the new format and so its given a chance to better explain some stuff like the differences between the g and t viruses and the differences between a tyrant like mr.x and nemasis
I can't believe that you managed to sum up RE in just one video, meanwhile chase is making a 19 part Yakuza video
To be fair I had like 2 pages of notes and bastardised the whole story. I’d like to go back to Resi and do it properly in the future!
"I lied. He's not a recurring character."
Lies like this are why it's a sin, Monty.
Guys, I have watched this video 3 times now and it never gets old.
I have to say, out of all the Lore Dumps that have happened on this channel, this has to be one of my favourites. I've never been a huge RE fan, but I've known enough through gaming osmosis about what's going on, and listening to someone else getting a rundown is just like, "Yeah, it really does go off the rockers quite quickly."

Seeing a kingdom hearts fan talk about how stupid RE lore is just hilarious
Only 4 hours? Must be a cliff notes version.

If only he knew the true horror of the entirely separate canon movie series, the actually canon to the main timeline animated movies, and TV shows.
Christ, I love this mess of a series.
Your guesses for Village sound cooler than what we got
came back to this one after playing the RE2 and 3 remakes and wow you guys have improved a ton, still hilarious tho
I love this stuff and I love this channel and I have to say this just in case someone else sees it. Starting a watchthrough of the entire channel. Thanks in advance for the very silly stories and tangents.
Take a shot everytime Chase says "helllll yeahhhhh" and you'll end up in the hospital real quick. To be fair that is the appropriate reaction for most things said in this video
Resident evil is Scooby Doo in a stand your ground state
I love the claim that Zelda invented eyes as a weak spot.
I'm sure Homer was very inspired by Ocarina of Time before he decided how Odysseus would defeat Polyphemus.
In the 7th century BCE.
I watched this two months ago and now all I have left is is yakuza and half of kingdom of hearts I love how you three bounce off each other
I've been binging ya'lls content for a month straight now. Yall are the best
11:45 I'm glad the remake changed Wesker's hatred of Chris to being because Chris killing the Tyrant stopped Wesker selling it to a rival company of Umbrella's. In the 1996 original he swore an 11 year grudge against him for laughing at the Tyrant.
It's really impressive how entertaining this is, I hereby tip my head to the concept and execution
Take a shot every time monty says Grim lol
Went to Monty's to see if a new Lore Dump dropped yet, and now I'm here.
I wasn't prepared to re-watch all of these, but I'm completely down for it.
I found Monty's Bioshock analysis video & was like ONLY THIS, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LORE DUMPS, GLAD THEY'RE ON ANOTHER CHANNEL, but now I'm here after watching the 7 RE videos, because watching this actually kinda sounds like a good time lol

Resident Evil Re:Visited.
The amount of lore Monty gets wrong in every video is astounding lol
Now understanding the resident evil series sometimes has a lot of plot holes and I get it a lot of people don't understand but as a serious re-found that grew up with the whole thing is this really kind of hurts me hearing this
You talking about watching your dad play Resident Evil just reminded me how much older I am than y'all (probably?).
the constant confusion over the t and g virus is hilarious, this franchise is insane.
Really want to see an American walking around Scotland in a gingham kilt...
Finally got around to this one and I pretty much had your friend's reaction the whole way through (apart from Leon's hair, which was definitely better in RE4)
This was a great primer on the whole series. Will there be a lore dump for 8? 🤔
One day for sure. Neil hasn’t played Village, so I’m thinking we’ll jump back into Resi when 9 comes out
2:04 So... snort the Wesker?
Q- So how did the T-Virus escape the mansion?
A- Nooooo.....
Man, I lost it 😂
1:46:19 The remake makes her a lot more likeable. Hell the remake fleshes out all the characters a lot more.
Im surprised. I have heard a lot of people dont like the Veronica villains.
I just discovered this channel and this is amazing and hilarious. He did! And he really enjoyed it too
This is so much more contrived than Kingdom Hearts and I'm saying that as a fan who's fully caught up
lore foul, Richard is the one bit by yawn
Huh, for some reason I'd always assumed Mr X was a Metal Gear character
i spent so long trying to find this
Enrico was not bitten by a snake, and veronica was the ancestor of the Ashford family not a wife, and RE4 is set 6 years after code veronica hahah 😅😂
Oh gosh
Wtf I just woke up to this dawg😭

1:23:41 Steve's a little creep.
I didn't even play the games, I really need this.
With regards to the guns comment at 1:20:10 do a Google search for the Calico M100

Gay dude going above and beyond with the sexualization and thirsting.
