thanks for the content, Carci, and for your determination and work ethic to finish this video despite how hard it was for you. you're very appreciated!
@@longdong3972 bad attitude to have. vidya is Carci's passion AND his career. he's privileged enough to have this line of work through the amount of effort he's put in. i feel bad for him because of the reactions of people like you and the expectations on him to complete the game, not because he didnt like the video game. his opinion and how this impacts his life/mental wellbeing are two different things.
he's cynical he's grandstanding and he's packin some serious dong and the best part of all is, he appreciates the struggle. thank u!! it's such an honor to receive validation from a pussy-getter such as yourself!! 😔 🙏
Play what you like, brother. If you don’t enjoy what you’re making, it will eventually reflect in your video quality. Thanks for the content, and your formality.
Carci ur a legend for going through this, I did the Frugalist Challenge(No Healing) on Professional and you won’t believe how tilted I get from this mess. Keep up the good work
I am sorry to hear you didn't enjoy playing the game, but I appreciate that you still made sure the commentary was insightful and enjoyable. Having a blast watching it and looking forward to future content!
Some better suggestions for strategies that could work better for those looking for them. (Note: this is not to shit on Carci's playthrough, it's just in case anyone would like to try this playthrough at a faster speed): Chapter 1: 13:10 If you run all the way to the gate and avoid the Ganados here, they'll lose aggro/stop running at you and run back to their spawn areas and not attack you. Use this opportunity to kill the Ganado that came out of the cabin so you can quickly loot the flash grenade. 23:05 This isn't really true. As long as you stay near the ladder you won't fall down and can pick off enemies with your pistol, shotgun, and grenade. However, you only want to do this around the point Leon says "you're kidding me" because it's a bit of a drain on resources. 23:57 Carci's strat here is a bit complicated but you can quicken it up by just stabbing the farmer at the left then get the pearl pendent off the windmill and collect the blue medallions nearby then kill the abuelita with pistol fire (no other enemies will spawn). Go under the tripwire, up the ladder, then vault down near the 2 boxes/red chest and collect everything on the bottom floor of the cabin. When the brute breaks down the door, just run past him (he won't hit you.) Finally crouch through the tripwire again and hurry up the ladder to activate the gear and vault to the area near the wayshrine. The enemies will likely be knocked down by the tripwire so you'll have ample time to just outrun them past the bridge. WARNING: Pushing the wagon at the end gives you i frames but there are "rare" timings the enemies will use to hit you during the endlag of the pushing animation but it's not very common. Chapter 2: 57:12 After "shooting" the pendent (you must shoot in order for Salvador to notice you) lure Salvador to the trap like in the video, stab him, then shoot 2 shotgun shells at his head. (The Ganados will be too far to attack you during this) Run up the stairs and lure Salvador to the tripwire. The moment the tripwire blows up, toss a grenade at him and the fight is over. If one of the Ganados survived this, pick them off and you can collect your Emerald. Much easier this way. Chapter 3: 1:09:30 The fastest strategy here is to bait out the molotov throw, then run quickly to the ladder. Before you climb up, parry or dodge the tossed hatchet on the right. (Hatchet Ganados have a LONG endlag so always take advantage of that) Up the ladder, you'll see the closest Ganado shimmying to the left or right. Speed past him on the opposite direction and go down the ladder. None of the 3 Ganados here will hit you if you just run funny enough, this always works if you don't hesitate. After you drop down, parry or shotgun the Ganado you landed next to then shotgun the two Ganados coming at you from the cave, then blow up the tripwire. Easy no damage and saves a lot of seconds. 1:26:25 Carci played very cautiously here but again, it's not that necessary. Simply stealth left and stab the abuelita nearest to you and just run past everyone all the way to the Antique pipe hanging on the tree (to dodge Ganados with weapons, don't be afraid and hug past the arm they're using to swing the weapon, it always misses) After shooting the antique pipe down, run a VERY wide turn around the 2-3 Ganados in the next area back to the bridge and shoot the tripwire. DO NOT SLOW DOWN OR YOU WILL GET HIT. Afterward, vault down and run towards the cabinet with the small key. Turn around and use the barrel to stun or kill the Ganados that have gotten close. Break the padlock to the shack on the left, grab the fuel tank and chicken egg (DON'T WASTE TIME OPENING THE BOX) then toss a flash grenade once the door has been opened. Kick the guys blocking the door and hurry up the ladder to the right. Be careful of the archer near the tripwire, parry or dodge the attack, then run mid range and shotgun him right into the tripwire and vault down. You'll now be in the area near where you knifed the first abuelita so just run towards the area where you first dropped down and head to the left near the small shack with the blue medallion and head up the ladder back. Shotgun anyone who gets nearby and you're done! This method is incredibly consistent if you follow it to a T. Just don't get greedy with the boxes. If you want the blue medallions just return here during Chapter 4 when you have the other 2 Hexagon pieces and all the enemies will have despawned. You'll be free to get these boxes too! Chapter 4: 1:58:51 Not a no-damage strat however if you want more time... Press X or Square to skip the cutscene with the dog spawning a plaga and run past it. Stop around a few inches past the bear trap and toss a flash grenade on the floor then book it to the boat. Turn your camera to see behind you and weave left or right to dodge the hatchet or dogs that haven't been blinded. You'll likely get hit by one of these but this is a very consistent strategy that won't get you combo'd and save tons of seconds. Chapter 5: 2:46:44 Not the most time efficient strat but this is very very safe if you do this right. Rather than run right, snipe the Ganado on the left. If the Ganado doesn't get his head popped or immediately pops a Plaga, kill it as fast as possible with the rifle or shotgun blasts. Hurry to the window (DO NOT VAULT INSIDE OR STAY TOO CLOSE TO THE WINDOW), prepare your gun and make sure Ashley is behind you. This is the next Hidey House strat. Ganados will flood through the door inside the house so pistol them one by one. If a Ganado starts vaulting the window, shotgun them. Toss a few grenades if it gets too crowded inside the house. Don't be afraid of the brute, even a base, unmaxed shotgun will still push the brute back during a vault. Keep track of your ammo throughout and reload whenever you've pushed the brute back. If any of the Ganados vault past the window then you can just run back inside the church and de-aggro them. Wait 20 seconds and the Ganados will have returned back to their original positions. Repeat the window strat until every enemy is dead. Now you have an open battlefield to fight Savage Mutt in! 2:56:30 Oh Savage Mutt, who designed your AI? Carci's strat here is very good but here's a few extra notes if you don't use the Bolt Thrower. If you want to kill Savage Mutt without the bolt thrower, upgrade the bolt action rifle to max power. Wait for Savage Mutt to plagarize then toss a grenade/flash grenade. Rifle the dog once, do a knife stab, rifle again, then toss a grenade/flash grenade again and repeat. However if you don’t like the bolt thrower or the Bolt Action then… don’t fight it. Just don’t. If you still want Mendez’s camera then you can actually stealth Savage Mutt by just crouching to the left where the fence is and vault down. You’ll hear Savage Mutt plagarize but it won’t notice you. After you vault, make a break for the ladder and since dogs don’t have opposable thumbs, you’ll be safe up there.
31:34 I hate when that happens where the game makes you do a combat execution rather than a stealth execution. It's all a context sensitive based system. Even if an enemy isn't aware of you, if other enemies are aware of you or the game classes you as being in combat, you always do a combat execution. Also, if enemies are crouched or kneeling when going to a stealth kill, Leon does a combat execution. And it's even more annoying when combat executions drain more durability than stealth executions even though Leon is stabbing them in the same place. Also, with regards to ground executions when enemies are knocked over, there can be a durability bug where more durability is drained more than usual. I'm not if this is related to frame rate or something else.
You're a living legend, Carci. We will always enjoy your videos whenever it's no damage run or not. Set up challenge to ourself is great but it will be enjoyable if we play the game to enjoy the content of the game to it's fullest, even if we must use recovery items. Please be yourself, Carci. And brush off those people who hate you. We love your content no matter what it is, keep at it bro
Firstly thank you for making this excellent guide despite having issues with the game - your time and effort is much appreciated. Respect to you for grinding on, you owe nobody anything so don’t let anyone give you grief. As soon as the game was released I was eager to see your guide as the one you made for the original was masterful. I have already used a lot of your guidance to help me play this section more comfortably on hardcore. My partner, who isn’t a fan of the series nor plays the game, also enjoys watching your content because you have an informative, laid back and low key style that is really relaxing. I personally like it when you have your moans, your witty asides, all justified and frankly all adding to our enjoyment of your content. Hope this message finds you well. Looking forward to the next video.
hey man, just wanna say I respect what you do, this stuff takes copious amounts of time and attention. for you to commit to it means a lot to the fans of this channel. keep up the good work boss.
You can camp the tower. You just have to make sure you don't walk too far away from the hole the ladder comes through, and the floor won't collapse. You can even get the green herb without falling through the floor this way. I used that method to get a big enough mob of ganados for grenades in my run.
3:18:57 This section is pretty buggy because there is always the possibility of being spotted for no reason when knife killing the first ganado. Also, in this section, I discovered that firing around corners and keeping yourself from being seen by the enemies still allows you to remain in stealth even though you're using loud weapons. This can apply to certain "stealth" encounters later on. Also, if you go past a certain threshold of this room and get spotted, the reinforcements will not spawn in.
I like the merchant. Whoever they got to do his voice work as well as his animations did really good. Edit: Finally got around to joining the patreon. Was penny pinching for a while since me and my family were saving for a house. Finally got moved in and now that i have extra scratch i can finally get extra things, including the sub for you. Thanks for all the content you make, you more than deserve all the support you get imo. Keep it up
A shame you wont be producing more content for the game, but this guide is still much appreciated. Love the level of effort and detail you put into it. All the best with your future vids, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for them.
Always enjoy your content Carci, while i myself love this game i completely understand that its a form of entertainment and thus its not for everyone. Keep up the steller work man!
15:24 for anyone just now tuning in to his playthrough of this game, I can personally vouch for what he just said. I've seen it happen in multiple playthroughs including my own. This game really can go sideways on you over some bullsh!t
Awesome video as always, Carci, but just a couple of tips: about camping in the tower at the village, it is still possible, but you must stand still by the stairs, you can't really move, otherwise you will fall. At the barn, you can snipe the lock at the back door standing a little left from where you stealth kill the granny ganado too, so this section can be a little faster! For me, at least, these made a no damage attempt way safer, at least in this section, but I understand this game can be REALLY irritating when trying to do it hahaha
-- Creates a challenge where you have to kill Del Lago without missing a single harpoon throw -- Makes it so releasing the Aim button throws a harpoon for no reason Brilliant idea Imagine going through the whole thing finally managing to complete the challenge, only to release the button right before the end and throwing a harpoon nowhere.
It's interesting to watch multiple no damga runs. The routes and tactics vary, but hiding in the house in chapter 2, cheesing the enemy is a common theme. I'm glad you still did this dispite it being one of the hardest things ever. Every no damage run needs Carci commentating.
23:06 You actually can stay in the tower, but you have to remain in front of the ladder at all times. Still though, this method should only be used as a last resort and if you have grenades. Enemies will eat your bullets and if the chainsaw man comes, you pretty much have to use a grenade to knock him off. Using the grenade to get enemies out of the way when you drop down is needed, but even then, the enemies may be stacking up outside.
Just FYI the bone-crunch sound when you melee someone doesn't automatically mean you killed the enemy, as you can see at 1:34:40. It just means you got a melee crit, which does a lot of damage, but doesn't equal a kill.
@@CarcinogenSDAI love how you accuse other people here of wanting to argue to win a discussion rather than looking to gain perspective. You can never handle when people try to tell you something, just shows what a uptight person you are. You want everyone to just take what you know to be true and the definite way to do this run. Content is always good but I've seen for years how you talk down to people in your comments in pretty much every guide like you're some superior entity who can't learn anything new by others who play the games too.
the reason you act the way you do toward me is because i AM better than people like you. quit crying at me because nobody fucking likes you. people love me and love what i do, and if you had any kind of real self-esteem you'd actually do something with your life instead of cry to me about how I'm so oppressive to you.
man if you can do it on Pro without getting hit or using a weapon, I'd love to see it. they teleport and run 2x as fast as Leon does offscreen to intercept you at every turn. if you think I'm lying, download RE framework, do the freecam hack and lock the camera above the map. also the enemies that trigger scripted grabs that make salvador chop down parts of the map. record a video, I'd love to see it.
@@Yukari_MAiG 100% lol teleporting Salvador happened to me in the first village encounter. It's funny, but actually bullshit that they resort to this lol
I just loved to watch the entire video of no damage gameplay of the RE 4 remake. Also really appreciate your hardwork you have done to make this video... thanks carci !!😊
3:29:08 The parry is also unreliable because you can't parry grabs in a manner similar to parrying regular punches by dismembering a Ganado's arm. And when enemies can spam grab as it is, the parry is rendered even more useless. If you could parry grabs, maybe they would be less stupid, especially when you're using knife durability for the parry.
44:48 The music can be very dishonest with relaying whether you're in combat or not. It's better to pay attention to the hud. If it's not there, enemies aren't alerted to you. If it's there, you're in combat. I've found that in a lot of sequences that look like you're forced to be in combat at all times, you can return to a stealth status. Chapter 15 with Mike's section is a great example of this. Even though it seems like the enemies know where you are at all times, you actually can go into stealth, but this usually requires going into areas the enemies can't go to and leashing them.
Honestly, I feel the same about RE4 remake. Once I beat the game on Professional once I no longer cared to do the other trophy runs like S+ Hardcore / Professional. It's an AMAZING game but I burned out fast after my 4th playthrough, I put it aside until Separate Ways releases.
45:48 This seems like a myth to me. I've definitely crouched grabs on even ground before, but I will say I only had success with crouching "dashing" grabs of regular Ganados, which leads to a whole assortment of practical issues, because then the checklist for "crouching grabs" is not as simple as people constantly make it sound, you don't "just press the crouch button" and become immune to a crouch, you already need to be in a crouched position before the enemy performing the grab even comes into contact with you. So in essence... The enemy needs to be far enough away for you to react to them in time. AND the enemy needs to be performing a dashing grab from a distance. BUT The enemy is faster than you and can just choose to run up to you before attempting to punch OR grab you. AND The enemies in later parts of the game become even faster, even while dash-grabbing, so reacting to them in time becomes harder and harder. (Because reacting to a single attack of an already faster enemy that has multiple attacks and can mix them up however they please wasn't hard enough already.) At close range is where it gets real messed up, when they're in hugging range, crouching won't help, and they can still force you to resort to parrying by punching you, so at very close range you have a 50% check to have the enemy punch you, which is technically avoidable, but heavily relies on your spacing and takes an absolutely stupid amount of practice to avoid and a 50% check to just... well... get grabbed and lose half your health... So your advice still holds true really, even if it does for a different reason, just fucking blast their heads off with the shotgun. Because with how absurd the timing for perfect parrying seems to be on some of the attacks in this game, "just parrying" the attack is just absolutely terrible advice, just like "just crouch the grab" is terrible advice because of how many variables you have to take into account if you want to "just crouch" grabs.
Thanks for being so transparent about your experiences with this game Carci. I personally like it (its definitely not better than the original) but I had to mod it on PC to get an experience that suits me (Eg. stackable items, reworked weapon damages, no bloom, etc). Looking forward to watching 👌
Oh the gameplay is amazing don't get me wrong (with exceptions that I've noted above). Tbh mate I'm just keen for more games like this to be released on the RE engine, the other remakes in my opinion are middling at best despite having some high points. To my original point though, 2005's RE had such amazing story beats, voice acting, atmosohere, scenery, cutscenes, etc. The remake falls short in these areas and overall feels like a trimmed version of the game.
The virgin “lives with a game mechanic they hate” Vs. The chad “removes or reworks game mechanic to make the game even more enjoyable for themselves” We gotta normalize this shit. I hate the damn wonky-ass aiming system so I use a perfect accuracy cheat to make it fun. Oh no, I’m cheating in a single player video game, I’m ruining the experience for-nah shut up, I’m not gonna put up with a game mechanic I hate for a video game I payed for. Of course, console players don’t really have a choice in this matter, condolences to them.
No its not. This is a soulless remake nonsense. Thank god he admitted to being a real RE fan. Real RE games are anything between 96 and 04. That's it. Keep anything passed 2005/06 out of my sight thank you.
@@CarcinogenSDA Even though i grew up with the older RE, i loved this remake, but i 100% know the feels you have playing it, while imo it is a good game, it is a damn rng mess specially the higher difficulties and the amount of bs the game throws at you is insane, i respect you for even trying a 100% on pro with no dmg, i wouldn't even dare to attempt it myself unless i want to go crazy.
3:28:49 Just a comment about the parry. I found the parry very lenient in professional in two scenarios. One is vs ranged throwing weapons, the other is vs Krauser’s knife fight segment. Normal melee strikes are the ones that requires perfect parries.
I finally got REMake4 and I'm really enjoying it. I'm sorry you didn't have the same experience or if making the guides ruined it. For what it's worth, it's greatly appreciated as I love playing then watching the going back and using your guides.
Nice job on the commentary despite being frustrated. I mentioned it in one of your livestreams that it’s commendable that you even attempted no damage. I struggled with the game even on standard sometimes lol
15:38 Just to confirm, the timer that ends this Village fight is still counting down during these cutscenes, right? 17:02 When unarmed enemies are more dangerous than armed enemies, a game's balancing is significantly off. Also be careful of enemies with weapons that are close to other enemies. They'll spam grab to put you in a full nelson so that other enemies can hit you. It's really dumb.
@@ArinSanDesu Oh cry me a river. They clearly designed the game around you most likely getting damaged. That's why the game is so generous with heals. Boo hoo the game wasn't designed for my specific challenge run!
@thevomit5851 oh come on pal nobody likes a negative nancy, why are you such a buzzkill you like fuckin bro? you're the dominant one here man, i bet you're the guy in the house doin all the fuckin
@@CarcinogenSDA What's with the strawman? I never even posed as superior. I'm just saying that the game wasn't designed for no damage. Clearly I'm the one being negative, not the guy calling Capcom "crapcom". The game was tested and it just wasn't designed for no damage runs and that's totally fine.
oh come on @thevomit5 turn that frown upside down i said you were the guy doin all the fuckin! doesn't that make you happy?? means you're gettin' mad pussy arguing your points about RE4, bro!
I'm saddened about all the shit you got for not enjoying the game like some other have. I, personally, loved this remake almost as much as the OG, and am super excited to run it back for my fourth time trying out some of your strats. Playing all these games without damage is way outside of my preferred game play experience, so seeing you put out all these walkthroughs is incredible to watch and learn from. Keep it up Carci💯💯!!! Though it should be said being an asshole to people as a joke or to make a point because of how you were treated, is still just being an asshole and doesn't help anyone or with anything. I've been there before many times so I can get the angle you're coming from even if I will never understand how you, personally, are feeling. I hope you have an awesome time visiting your partner and can push through of this negative experience❤💖❤
I like how Carci sounds like an experienced diplomat or politic at the beginning, while being completely honest. Jokes aside, thanks for keeping your content as real as possible! How may creators are replaying it just for pleasing the masses/ algorithm?
45:52 That and the grabs have bad detection, particularly with the close range grab because it's literally a long range grab done at close range, so the chances for the detection on the crouch to mess up are exceedingly high. Talk about badly designed, cumbersome grab hitboxes.
About the golden egg, there was that bounty ask you to throw egg at Ramon Salazar's portrait. It was the hint to throw golden egg at him during the boss fight. At least that what I think
Quite sure the bone crunch sound on melee means it's a critical hit which deals more damage but it's not necessarily lethal. At least i'm quite sure i've had enemies survive those hits. Also same happens on 1:28:03 in the video.
Carci does not make me disappointed in any way. I very much enjoy all the content provided. If I wasn't poor, I would gladly help more. Thanks for all the content
super impressive no damage segments & strats! Thanks for well-written informative timely commentary too even tho casual commentary is always chill as well :) It's crazy how random & unpredictable enemies are in this game after replaying chainsaw demo many times myself so can't imagine no dmg pro s+ being fun. If micro involves too much luck, devs are just encouraging cheese strats not "git gud" anymore :(
It requires a different skillset then other RE games. Those games require getting really good at a specific set of task, planning around those tasks and executing them flawlessly every time. And with those games being so consistent you can do that. You usually have situations like this: "Alright there's a zombie to the right in this hallways so I need to steer to the left side and then when he lunges and misses I swing a quick right and pick up this small key that's always here that i'll need in 35 minutes." Or "okay there's 2 rng spots this licker can be at and I know how to deal with both but one of them is harder/requires more resources so if i get bad rng then I need to account for that and make sure to stop at this one room I usually skip that always has shotgun shells to make up for that resource loss." This game requires more on the fly adaptive thinking and precise timing/aiming then most RE games. You get situations more like: "Oh shit that guy is NEVER there. I need to perfectly parry this and switch to the shotgun to blow away this plaga coming at me while being prepared for the possibility of another perfect parry afterwards." or "Damn I'm used to having 2 flash grenades for this section coming up in 10 minutes, do I hope to find another in a random drop and risk this being much harder/have to hatch a new strategy on the fly or should I stop for 5 seconds at the next merchant and buy the flash grenade recipe and craft one so it's closer to how I planned it?". They can be similar in some ways as a base level thought process "I'm used to A but need to be prepared for B" but the way it plays out is usually quite different. It's definitely not for everyone and I can see why some people don't enjoy one more than the other. Personally I enjoy both a lot. Even though it's not the exact same it might help to view it in a similar way to a rouge like type of game. Quite a bit of randomness to account for and adapt to which isn't for everyone but for some it's what keeps runs interesting.
you oversimplify what actually happens and you're absolutely hilarious if you think any amount of preparation can help you for the situations that actually happen in this game.
@@CarcinogenSDA "you're absolutely hilarious if you think any amount of preparation can help you for the situations that actually happen in this game". Really? You genuinely believe that? So lets say you bought the tmp instead of the rifle. You don't think that would have changed things? That your choice to get the rifle didn't help? That your choice to upgrade the power on the shotgun and handgun didn't help? That's all preparation. You knew the rifle was better for upcoming sections then the tmp would be. That the tmp wasn't good for anything you were going to do. You knew having the shotgun and pistol at full power would be better for the cabin section instead of focusing on other upgrades. Holding onto a flash grenade to use on the group of crows and 2 wolves is preparation. Making sure you hold onto a grenade to skip parts of the castle before the gigante is preparation. Making sure you have 2 heavy grenades to take out the anti air gun is preparation. Am I wrong? Unless your using a wildly different definition or concept of preparation I don't know how you could defend your statement. Come on dude. I think you make good content. I like the personality that you bring to these videos. And I get that your getting heat by some people online and a lot of it's probably unfair and they're saying some out of pocket shit over a video game which is ridiculous. I get that you aren't enjoying this game at all. But let's have some intelligent well thought out criticism that isn't just on it's face incorrect like "preparation doesn't help" or stuff that mostly boils down to skill issues like "parrying is inconsistent. Don't depend on it".
look, I'm gonna stop trolling for two seconds out of respect for everything that you wrote. I ultimately don't care enough to even finish this conversation. you have your opinions and i have mine, and i think you're looking to win a debate. every time someone grandstands about "intelligent discussion" in 2023 they're looking to push their position and not looking to gain perspective. I'm aware that nobody gives a shit about whether or not you can do a no damage run. but if you even care about my perspective (and i don't actually think you do) just try a no damage run yourself on pro. game's rigged. the basic gameplay loop of new game -> win game bores me, and i want to actually gain mechanical improvement and appreciate its finer mechanics so that i may get better. i do not have motivation to do so if leon feels like molasses, your bullets miss when your crosshair is on top of the enemy, and enemies gain ridiculous frame advantages when you use the tools given to you to avoid taking hits, it's just not fun to me anymore. The basic efficiency routing that I implement in all of my runs, or "preparation", does not fix any of that. it feels like Resident Evil if Resident Evil was a rigged carnival game. I don't care if people like it. I feel like I am either being attacked for liking it or being convinced to like it, depending on who is talking to me. I am not interested in being convinced to like it because the many problems the game has are dealbreakers.
@@CarcinogenSDA Hey man that's fair enough. Just want to say that I think it's fair to not trust me. I had only heard about the hate you've gotten but upon looking into it and your twitter a little more I think it's completely understandable given the amount of backlash you've gotten for stating your opinion. I may disagree with you about some more nitty gritty stuff but I don't think that means you deserve to be treated like shit over it. Just want to say that I think it's cool that you did give me a response when it probably seemed like I was just looking for blood. Personally I've never been into doing no damage type challenges because while I like difficulty I've just never found that type of challenge to be fun. One mistake and it's back to square one is a design I've hated stemming from growing up with certain NES games as a kid. Like DMC5 is one of my favorite games in recent years but I always play DMD rather than Hell and Hell because of that (and enemies die too fast to style on). But regardless I do think I can still have some limited perspective considering I still do s+ pro runs on this and don't find the same issues you do. Also I probably hard core sounded like some dipshit "let's have reasonable intelligent conversation" centrist lets get along type since your right that a lot of disingenuous bad actors use that kind of language to subtly manipulate people and I probably should have thought of that before saying it considering that, while I didn't know the full extent of it, people were throwing a lot of BS at you. Hopefully you don't encounter a ton more shitty RE "fans" in the future and that it doesn't sour all future interaction with other communities and people. I always thought the RE community was really chill but it seems like there's a lot of people itching for someone to unload on lurking around which sucks. Anyway, Have a good one Carci! I hope you find a cool game to make runs for next that's more enjoyable for you and I look forward to watching!
2:16 thank you for this much, I don't blame you for not wanting to do any extra categories for this game. I hope you find a game that is going to make you happy soon, after your vacation that has been long over due. I'm excited to see you refreshed when you come back, I hope you get to take as much time as you need 🙂
Props to you for doing these runs. I also hated this game on Hardcore and Professional. Excluding DMC5, Capcom has had some serious problems with programming their games on 60fps and above. As someone who loves the OG RE4 to death, the 60 fps UHD mod has some issues as well where enemies can literally wombo combo you relentlessly, some dodge/melee prompts no longer give you any i-frames, and there's little to no buffer/cooldown between enemy attacks because it wasn't built for anything above 30 fps at the time. The Oculus VR version fixed a lot of problems but the wombo combo bug is still there. Believe it or not RE4 Remake's Mercenaries is possibly the closest thing to the OG game mechanics-wise and I wonder why tf couldn't Capcom base the game's foundation upon that and up the damage from there in terms of difficulty. I swear this shit is just Village of Shadows difficulty all over again but with A LOT of RNG bullshit. This is no longer a skill issue, but rather incompetent programming, poor mechanics implementations, and lack of fine-tuning/testing. Also, whoever thought that implementing aim bloom this game in particular was great idea, needs to get a serious kick in their nuts or ovaries.
Okay, I laughed out loud when you were explaining grenade issues and perfectly timed Leon's "You gotta be kidding me" with it. Good stuff. Impressive work on this video, sorry the Biohazard RE:4 isn't a fun game for you, but I appreciate you suffering through at least this time for the video. I'm looking forward to watching whatever you do next!
*Me, watching a carcinogen playthrough, knowing full well I most likely won't be playing any of these games*: Oh man, that was sick, I'll have to try it myself
3:29:00 I think there's a few types of parries that still have lenient timing on Professional, throwing axes among them. (Off the top of my head I think the attacks that give you a big prompt in the middle are like this too)
Been looking forward to this video love it as ever, I do love how you are just honest in your commentary about the game and I prefer that, I agree with you not doing console strats videos as it really is pointless. I feel that the only was to get a good no damage run is by doing new game plus with all your items maxed out and to do it on standard or even on assisted as its so hard to do it hardcore and professional. Not sure if you would also agree with me on this but then its like as us players who like a challenge on our no damage runs and to do it on the highest difficulty as well but also the games mechanics its like i feel can't even do a no save or no damage run on professional for S+ rank. Great video
These playthroughs and guides are always a good time. I hope you continue to share your insights and opinions as well despite the angry mob that congregates on your videos. I share many of your sentiments on the design of the game. It's a great game, no doubt but has warts that don't necessarily elevate it over the original IMO. In some ways that opinion is more extreme than yours since you seemed to have mostly enjoyed Re4Make over the original.
2:03:37 I would've much rather they replace this useless blind fire function with the knife with an actual blind fire function with the guns just like in RE7 and RE Village. The enemies run so fast that a blind fire is needed. Also, when the enemies are only going to flinch during very specific animations like sprinting, a blind fire is more reliable than a useless knife slash that comes with more negatives than positives.
Very good vid mate i gave up trying to do a professional run to unlock cat ears because it is so hard. I will wait for the unlock all rewards dlc to drop. I just got the cat ears by following your tips mate thanks ❤️
To get S+ on professional you can use bonus weapons and you can use an upgrade ticket to get infinite ammo on the Handcannon or Chicago Sweeper. Makes the rest of the game a joke. You just need to get through the Village and do all of the merchant requests before you get to the castle.
I feel like pistols without the laser have some sort of arbitrary range where accuracy just falls off a cliff. Like I never had too many issues in close/mid range combat but I noticed bullets veering wildly off course going for some of the outdoor castle medallions with focus shots.
It amazes me that what caused the most amount of controversy with this games was the supposed "censorship" and change story elements. What annoyed me the most on my first playthrough of the Remake was the absolute downgrade the gameplay and combat received compared to the original. For example: it's much harder for enemies to be instantly killed by a kick or a suplex now, Some enemies have way too much health and do way to much damage, the crafting system sucks balls now, prices at the Merchant have become way too expensive (80,000 Peesatas for a Rocket Launcher? Seriously?) and the game barely gives you enough Peesatas to compensate for this, The amount of free weapons you can get has also decreased, Weapons no longer get a free ammo refill when you upgrade their capacity, Ashely is also a lot more annoying now due to her "incapacitated" state that they decided to add. In general there's just a lot of gameplay issues in this Remake that either didn't exist in the original RE4 or were just not that big a problem before due to there being ways to mitigate it. This Remake would easily go from a 8.5/10 to a 9/10 if they just fixed the dang gameplay imo.
I can shed some light on how the DLC's "Expanded Treasure Map" interacts with those "Collect all Treasures" achievements. The short answer is: it doesn't. It has a separate progress tracker on the map and the related treasures have a "+" next to their map icons. During my first playthrough I assumed that the Expanded Map would also include what's shown on the maps sold by the Merchant so I didn't buy any of them. I did not get any of the "collect all treasures" achievements despite collecting everything shown to me by the expanded map. Those treasures did not count for the achievements. I went back later and did a NG+ playthrough. This time I purchased the maps from the merchant and to my surprise, I had additional treasures added to my map. So yeah...the Merchant's maps and the Expanded Map are linked to two separate sets of treasures. Admittedly I think the expanded map's 'treasures' are pretty lame. It's mostly silver tokens and a few extra gems. It's better this way though. It would be way worse if the DLC map gave you a huge advantage.
Not lame, if you're aiming for the S+ Pro, the extra gems and the extra spinels are very helpful, I guess they added the silver and gold tokens to try your chance in the charms without going to the shooting gallery, again the expanded map's treasure is only useful for the S+ Pro
You can actually still camp in the tower, you just can't move much from the top of the ladder to avoid triggering the fall. Kind of funny that it's so easy to circumvent an obvious attempt to remove a cheesy strategy from the original. Unfortunately, the crunching noise from a kick indicates a critical hit rather than a kill; it's fairly likely to kill given the damage, but critical hits are merely a damage increase rather than a guaranteed kill like in the original. The lack of visual and audio clarity is really just a persistent issue in this game overall. I imagine the reason enemies can run faster than you can run away is to push players to use the parry, which is actually perfectly reliable if you can learn all of the different timings for different weapons: the axe and sickle swings are intuitive and easy, but the pitchfork stabs are difficult to judge, and flails and stun rods won't give any benefit when parried. The real threat is when the enemies do that stupid little shove, which can often put you in an impossible situation when it comes to avoiding damage. With that and the horrible grabs, it's always better to just avoid being in a situation to use the parry when trying to avoid damage. The SMGs are actually one of the few weapons in the game that can consistently stun enemies despite the variable and random stagger system, but yeah the bloom is atrocious regardless of what you do, and the damage it pitiful until fully upgraded. The ambiguity regarding whether or not a shot will stun or stagger should've never been a thing in the first place. There are plenty of situations in which having Ashley being further away is great, the problem is that her AI is completely broken. She's constantly either lagging behind when told to stay close, or constantly getting in the way when told to give space. In the original she was tethered to Leon's side whenever he moved or aimed, always keeping her in sight and keeping her out of the way, while here she's constantly fluctuating or just doing nonsensical things regardless of the command given. I can agree with replacing the option to keep her stationary to avoid all the times in the original where you could just completely remove her from the equation, but not with her just not functioning properly whatsoever. Hate to come off as an arrogant know-it-all, I just think it's important to be as accurate as possible when covering why this game is heavily flawed both from a general point of view and when compared to the original. My knowledge probably isn't perfect either, so I encourage anyone reading to point out any inaccuracies.
I’m to the point where if I play I game I know Carci has done or will do, I always think “man how the hell is Carci going to do this with no damage and 100%?! Cause I’m getting my ass kicked!” I’m sure I’m not the only one to think that😂.
I love the remake but playing it is such a massive pain in the ass sometimes. Can't even imagine the stress of doing a no damage run, holy shit. As OG Leon would say, "No thanks, bro!"
Awesome video! I'm not going to be play this anytime soon, but I always enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for covering this game. Hopefully the next game will be better.
Technically you can stay at the top of the ladder in that tower, but that is a SUPER risky strat if you're trying to do no damage. Definitely not worth it.

I love how formal and proper the commentary started and then gradually reverted back to classic Carci. Very endearing IMO
Yeah I must admit I'm not a fan of formal carci lol his funny, blunt, straight to point commentary is one of reasons why I like watching him.

@@TheSCPStudio yea and they are your parents.
Some better suggestions for strategies that could work better for those looking for them. (Note: this is not to shit on Carci's playthrough, it's just in case anyone would like to try this playthrough at a faster speed):
Chapter 1:
13:10 If you run all the way to the gate and avoid the Ganados here, they'll lose aggro/stop running at you and run back to their spawn areas and not attack you.
Chapter 2:
57:12 After "shooting" the pendent (you must shoot in order for Salvador to notice you) lure Salvador to the trap like in the video, stab him, then shoot 2 shotgun shells at his head. (The Ganados will be too far to attack you during this) Run up the stairs and lure Salvador to the tripwire. The moment the tripwire blows up, toss a grenade at him and the fight is over. If one of the Ganados survived this, pick them off and you can collect your Emerald. Much easier this way.
Chapter 3:
1:09:30 The fastest strategy here is to bait out the molotov throw, then run quickly to the ladder.
Chapter 4:
1:58:51 Not a no-damage strat however if you want more time...
Chapter 5:
2:46:44 Not the most time efficient strat but this is very very safe if you do this right.
Carci politely dissing capcom 😂😂😂
That ganado leaving the bathroom with a broken neck is definitely a commentary about proper pooping safety.
Your dedication and the work you put into all of your no damage runs is amazing great vid as always
I can feel Carci's pain through his voice. Makes me feel as awful as he probs was while making the vid. That's some serious fortitude man, respect ❤

For me, at least, these made a no damage attempt way safer, at least in this section, but I understand this game can be REALLY irritating when trying to do it hahaha
thanks Carci, this is an excellent & well-put together video! Can't wait for Part 2!
it's out
-- Creates a challenge where you have to kill Del Lago without missing a single harpoon throw
-- Makes it so releasing the Aim button throws a harpoon for no reason
Brilliant idea
Imagine going through the whole thing finally managing to complete the challenge, only to release the button right before the end and throwing a harpoon nowhere.
yeah makes it pointless to even have a throw button if letting go throws it anyway. i never touch R2 during this boss.
It's interesting to watch multiple no damga runs. The routes and tactics vary, but hiding in the house in chapter 2, cheesing the enemy is a common theme. I'm glad you still did this dispite it being one of the hardest things ever. Every no damage run needs Carci commentating.
I’m glad you make it the no damage. Proud you man
I appreciate how clear you are at telling us what to do, thanks.
is this sincere or do i sound like an asshole? serious question.
@@CarcinogenSDA Sincere. You sound like a teacher strictly instructing their students about what's right and wrong.
Yeah this method is good but definitely need grenades and/or the Chicago sweeper.

I just loved to watch the entire video of no damage gameplay of the RE 4 remake. Also really appreciate your hardwork you have done to make this video... thanks carci !!😊
Incredible save 3:11:45 with the magnet grab ganado while pushing the stairs lmao
BUT
The enemy is faster than you and can just choose to run up to you before attempting to punch OR grab you.
AND
The enemies in later parts of the game become even faster, even while dash-grabbing, so reacting to them in time becomes harder and harder.
(Because reacting to a single attack of an already faster enemy that has multiple attacks and can mix them up however they please wasn't hard enough already.)
At close range is where it gets real messed up, when they're in hugging range, crouching won't help, and they can still force you to resort to parrying by punching you, so at very close range you have a 50% check to have the enemy punch you, which is technically avoidable, but heavily relies on your spacing and takes an absolutely stupid amount of practice to avoid and a 50% check to just... well... get grabbed and lose half your health...
So your advice still holds true really, even if it does for a different reason, just fucking blast their heads off with the shotgun.
Because with how absurd the timing for perfect parrying seems to be on some of the attacks in this game, "just parrying" the attack is just absolutely terrible advice, just like "just crouch the grab" is terrible advice because of how many variables you have to take into account if you want to "just crouch" grabs.
precisely why i don't do it, yup
Thanks for being so transparent about your experiences with this game Carci. I personally like it (its definitely not better than the original) but I had to mod it on PC to get an experience that suits me (Eg. stackable items, reworked weapon damages, no bloom, etc).
Looking forward to watching 👌
It definitely better in gameplay, if some disagree they blind or zombie (or ganado, this RE 4).

@@Jake-dw6kh og re 4 amazing story? We played the same game? Og re 4 feel like 80-90 cringe b movie, remake like Hollywood movie.
The virgin “lives with a game mechanic they hate”

The chad “removes or reworks game mechanic to make the game even more enjoyable for themselves”
We gotta normalize this shit.
"If you miss shot, it's not your fault". No wonder I keep missing my shot on my playthrough.
I find that pro can be BS at times. I appreciate that you made the video even though you didn’t enjoy it.
Easily a top 3 RE game, sad to hear you didn't enjoy it. Cool vid as usual

Great work carci. Been looking forward to this. This game has been kicking my butt. 😂
I struggled with the game even on standard sometimes lol
i usually prefer non-commentary playthroughs but i enjoyed the tips you mentioned throughout the video! makes me wanna try professional mode myself
I can't believe you did! This must have taken so much time to route and get through. Thanks Carci!

I love sassy Carci, so much.
Thank you for putting yourself through this game for our entertainment.

super impressive no damage segments & strats!
Thanks for well-written informative timely commentary too even tho casual commentary is always chill as well :)
It's crazy how random & unpredictable enemies are in this game after replaying chainsaw demo many times myself so can't imagine no dmg pro s+ being fun. If micro involves too much luck, devs are just encouraging cheese strats not "git gud" anymore :(
It requires a different skillset then other RE games. Those games require getting really good at a specific set of task, planning around those tasks and executing them flawlessly every time. And with those games being so consistent you can do that. You usually have situations like this: "Alright there's a zombie to the right in this hallways so I need to steer to the left side and then when he lunges and misses I swing a quick right and pick up this small key that's always here that i'll need in 35 minutes." Or "okay there's 2 rng spots this licker can be at and I know how to deal with both but one of them is harder/requires more resources so if i get bad rng then I need to account for that and make sure to stop at this one room I usually skip that always has shotgun shells to make up for that resource loss."
This game requires more on the fly adaptive thinking and precise timing/aiming then most RE games.
Got the cabin section done first try because of this. Let’s fricking gooooo!
2:16 thank you for this much, I don't blame you for not wanting to do any extra categories for this game.
I hope you find a game that is going to make you happy soon, after your vacation that has been long over due. I'm excited to see you refreshed when you come back, I hope you get to take as much time as you need 🙂
I did not know that enemies can get caught in the bear traps. Now I understand why there are so many bear traps placed!
If only the average person was as competent as you...
Been watching some of the in-progress chapters on patreon, but gotta give the full run some love as well!
Great video
the only way to win is to not do it
These playthroughs and guides are always a good time.
@@HenryMyth thanks for the tip

Treasure Map DLC Treasures do not affect the achievements and are entirely optional to pick up. :)
One of my favorite commentary gamer youtuber plsss keep up the good work!!👍👍👍
I feel like pistols without the laser have some sort of arbitrary range where accuracy just falls off a cliff.
Always love your resident evil content. Master of your craft.
you're insane carci even though you hate this game the strategies u showed are very informative gotta try this one out!
Honestly I think this was way too insane of a challenge anyway. Hitless 100% on the hardest difficulty and with S plus? Absolutely nuts
That rat put up a good fight.
I've been waiting for this. Looking forward to falling asleep to Carci's smooth voice and losing my place.

Technically you can stay at the top of the ladder in that tower, but that is a SUPER risky strat if you're trying to do no damage. Definitely not worth it.
