Yesss, been waiting for this video! I need to try one of the extra shorts. The short versions of tips are always way longer than I prefer. I may get the oval ones and just file them a bit pointier since the almond are sold out. I know you said not to reshape them, but I've never had an issue.
It took me all day to do this method. I thought it would be easy maybe with practice I'll get better. Thanks for the inspiration and I think what you do is very difficult and amazing at the same time. Keep it up. Love your stuff.
Thank you so much! 💖 I had about two months of continuous practice trying gelly tips before filming this video. There’s definitely lots of struggles and mistakes learned that aren’t seen here 😳😅
@@CaroleAnnette definitely I struggled. I didn't have strait up almond nails either so you know I tried both ways nails and just the paper forms it was all hard. I'll keep trying though. 🙂 you did awesome I would love to see a dinem nail set if that would be possible.
Loved the informative video! Do you have a second video on applying color? My question is do you have to buff the tip after application to add gel color? And then i assume the base coat first?
I have a removal video coming soon 🥰 Yes, the cactus gelly is (to me) essentially like a builder gel. It’s much thicker than gel base and polish. The viscosity isn’t hard to work with either.
At 11:50 what do you mean by “Builder Gel seeping out “? You had indicated this was done on natural nail. Also at 15:15 🙂 Is Builder Gel the same as the Cactus Jelly you mentioned previously in video?
Seeping out - meaning the gel is no longer located under the gelly tip, it is moving onto my skin, which is not good for gel products to do, as it can cause allergies over time. Yes, I am using the words cactus gelly and builder gel interchangeably here (probably shouldn’t have) they essentially have the same purpose, and most other brands gelly tip systems “gel” is a builder gel, so that’s what I’m most familiar with saying and using when applying gelly tips.
I’m sorry it took me so long to respond. I haven’t been in my nail room until now to check for you. I’m reading the ingredients and the only one that is spelled close to HEMA is HPMA (which is not HEMA) hydroxypropyl methacrylate. The gels and primer in this video are all HEMA free.
@@CaroleAnnette Yeah!! Great news thank you so much! I love your videos, such an inspiration. Hoping to start my TH-cam journey this year! I have grown so much and love doing my nails! Still learning everyday!
Awesome video, I am just starting to dip my nails, but I will keep this company in mind when I decide to do tips, I always enjoy your videos and learn so much!
Such a great and in-depth tutorial! Thank you so much for this! I haven't tried gelly tips yet but it's something I do want to try and this tutorial is extremely helpful!
Carole- thanks so much for sharing this great in-depth tutorial. Is BG in a bottle an appropriate substitute for their base? It’s sold out on their website
Hi Carole! When using these, you do so on your bare natural nail, correct? And you are also using a peel base before dipping. So how long do the gel tips last before you have to soak them off and reapply? Thanks for all of your videos! They really help!
Hi, yes, I use the gelly tips on my bare natural nail. This whole process you saw in this video is on my ownnnails. I use peel base on top of the gelly tips, and then dip on top of those. If you have the right size, fit, prep and application, the tips should last you until it’s time to remove them. I have gone through many trials and errors with tips that weren’t perfect for my nail shape and would lift too soon. Now I can keep my tips on for 2ish weeks before I’m tired of the grow out and want a new set.
I’m always looking for new products that may work for me. I usually have the issue of tips/dips/gel/builder gel peeling off my nails in a day or two. I used a builder gel that you did a video on before and liked it, but after the first time I used it it decided to peel off. No matter how much prep I do to my nails it happens, and has for almost 20 years. How do you think this compares to the other builder gels? I’m just wondering if this will be something that works for me. Thanks.
I was so excited to get this video notification! I didn’t know about using the top coat to hide the size number and prevent things sticking to the cactus gel- I’ll be sure to use the tip next time! As the tips grow out, do you fill or replace them?
I usually put a gel base coat on my natural now hear that, do not remove tacky later, and then go in with a builder Gel on my nail tip, whether it’s tip or full cover, and then add a little bit of builder Gel over top of my base coat and then apply the nail without curing. After the tip or full, cover, tip is applied, I go ahead and curate under the lamp. But I noticed when I use builder Gel, my nails tend to pop off, even if they have been etched on the underside of the nail tip or fake full cover now. !! So usually one to two days in the nail pops off. Then I have to gently file the underside of the nail to get rid of the cured product And then reattach the nail with some basecoat.!
Omg..perfect timing..I just got tips and I've been wanting to try them! Thank you so much for this video! I have a question. Do you have to file the underside of the tip if you're just using glue? I stay away from gel products so I have nail glue. TIA!
I am so upset that the gel adhesive is out of stock😪 but I got some gelly xsmall that I love the shade of. I really can not wait to try them out. I do have a quick question! Do you have a video about removal? Do you really have to do a whole new set evey 2 weeks or can you file around and apply builder gel over to fill in? New to jelly tips and just Love this detailed video! Thanks!
They’re working on getting a large restock! 🙌 there’s been a delay with the manufacturer 😞 I don’t have a removal video (yet), but it’s coming. You don’t have to do a fresh set every 2 weeks. It’s personal preference. Here is a great video from @Kates Nail Korner on how she fills her gelly tips. th-cam.com/video/DDElGrB_oRM/w-d-xo.html
You can do either one. I prefer to re-do the whole set of gelly tips every few weeks. However, I use peel base over the gelly tips and pop off the dip when I’m ready for a new color.
When putting base gel on your nail before putting builder gel on the nail and adhering the tip to your nail, do you put base on all nails or you do one nail at a time?
Good morning Carole! When applying these do you have to prep your natural nail prior to the primer? I ask as I was under the assumption that gel products didn’t adhere to a smooth surface. TIA 💜
Hi Carole, do you apply the gelly tips on your natural nails or do you have builder gel?? They look nice in your nails, but the aplication requires too many steps in my opinion 😐 and I am a little lazy. Anyways, thanks for the video I was waiting for it!! 🤗
I have painted desert tips and cactus jelly …I followed exactly but my gel isn’t smooth under, lots of air bubbles , I can’t flash cure in my bigger lamp with hood!
Do you know why shipping is so expensive with this company? 1 box of tips within the same state (TX) is $7 plus the $1 route insurance. That made one box $28 with your 10% off. I really wish they had some to try or something before making that large of an investment. Thank you for sharing though.
I’m not entirely sure why it’s that cost, but that’s a flat rate, so it’s that price regardless of what you buy. It’s definitely a perk if you have a larger order.

I didn't know I needed other stuff to use these :(
You can use nail glue - but they’re designed to be used with some kind of thicker gel.
Can you share the link to that silicone tool you used?

I got from painted desert too but from a canadian site😁 so excited!
Do you infill your gelly tips or take them off and put on new ones?
I prefer to completely re-do them
That looks amazing! I've been really looking forward to videos on this and you did such an amazing job. I do wonder what removal is like, though.
Removal is so easy! Use an efile, gel remover or soak in pure acetone.
Can you share whrre you get your prep bands from? I tried searching what you called them on Amazon but couldn't find that exact wording
Absolutely! They’re called Arbor or sanding bands. amzn.to/3HF7Jgq
@@CaroleAnnette thank you ma'am!
Do you have to use a nail buffer on your nails before applying the the primer?
I don’t recommend it. Most buffers I have smooth out the surface of the nail. A smooth surface isn’t ideal for nail enhancements to stick to
When putting base gel on your nail before putting builder gel on the nail and adhering the tip to your nail, do you put base on all nails or you do one nail at a time?
I personally do all at once. But if you’re just starting out, you may want to practice one at a time

Gotcha.

I totally agree!! 💯
Do you find the curve is flatter and does not need lots of gel under the tip than on other ones? (I hope this makes sense to you.)
It makes total sense. Yes, they’re flatter than others I have tried.
