It is so nice to see a married couple working together on something they love! Most men only dream of having their wife passionate about something they love!!! You guys rock and looking forward to each video! Maybe one day you do one on how you met and what you do for fun when not wrenching!
You both have delivered another first class video ticket, I'll always fly with you. Thanks for sharing this electrifying video with us that watch your channel. Outstanding job. Always love a garage girl fixing things. Such a joy.
I'm 'restomoding' a 76 bronco and had the same clearance issues with my electric fan and ended up mounting it directly to the radiator. Works like a charm and keeps it right at 190 degrees in this TX heat (I'm in McKinney).
Erin, don't know if you've ever heard of this trick .. but here goes. Here in the NorthWest, moisture is always a problem, and we know metal can absorb moisture as well. My brother and I were prep'ing metal for paint, and he grabbed the propane torch to "dry out" the pieces we were about to paint. I was amazed to see the amount of very obvious moisture that the torch pulled from the pieces we were about to paint!! Longer story short .. paint really does bond better to "dry" material :) :)
Glad that wrench didn't hit you in the eye or mouth. Love watching everything about your channel. Your mom skiing, cute Finley and nieces helping out, and Aaron is like the most calm easy going mechanic I have ever seen. Nothing but greatfullness since subscribing over 5 years ago. God bless your whole family.
Love broncos! Dad had 1 back in 77-80. Loved driving her when I 1st got my permit! I was willing to buy it when he planned on selling, but he sold it to some kid down the street from us. I was heartbroken. 🥺😥
Loved the wardrobe choice in the first part of the vid lol. Only a few dozen perfect women out there and Aaron's got one of them. She's got it all, brains, brawn, looks, a great smile and always a great attitude. Get a mechanics stethoscope. Very cheap but helps to easily pin down odd noises.
I want a bronco just like that. When I heard the sound that you guys were talking about I instantly thought it sounded like an electric fuel pump. I had a Ford Ranger with a 351w in it. The electric fuel pump was loud as heck, but it had a 4 barrel on it. I miss that ole truck.
I run two of the Holley sniper kits, one on my 400 Ford and the other on my Chevy 454, the injectors are definitely noisy and took me awhile to get used to, your noise sounds slightly different to me but maybe it’s just the way the camera picks it up. It’s a good system, I went to the progressive linkage for a while but could never get it to run correctly, gave up and went back to the original linkage and it’s happy again. Broncos looking great guys.
On my Small Block powered S 10 ran into the same problem with fan clearance I converted the electric fan to a pusher by just switching the leads, and mounted it on the outside of the radiator and mounted a flex fan on the motor.
If you look in the Glove compartment there's a map on how to get to Moab. I'll be there Oct. 15-20. Ya'll outa come along. Betty is the perfect ride for that place!! You'll love Kane Creek! Dead Horse Point etc.!!!
One thing to think about when having the clearance so close is frame twist when rock crawling. A little flex and the fan goes right into the radiator. Used to be a common problem when upgrading the broncos to the 351 Windsor.
Hi Emily and Aaron "FOG-DUCKER" here, be careful not to get the letters mixed up Just found you guys, and have been trying to catch up with F.S.G. as well as Aaron's T.W.T. videos. You guys have it all 3 of my favorite things....General Aircraft/Road Vehicles/and Hot Rod Builds, just heaven. Live in the pacific northwest, in Canada on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in a small town (Sooke) not unlike your Texas home. Have relatives about 90 km (oops, sorry 50 miles) 1 hour east on you guys they live in Tyler TX. Small world this internet thing, enjoy what I have watched to-date and look forward to seeing more. Retired now but have done a lot of what you guys are experiencing now, like monkey wrenching on hot rods, flying, and Trucking. Keep up the good work.....and in this uncertain times, until next time...."BE CALM BE KIND BE SAFE".
That noise (ticking) could be the balance weight on the flex plate hitting the spacer plate if you used the fox body one, all you have to do is pop the converter bolt plate off the bottom and if its that hitting you will have some aluminum shavings fall out. I just cut all the extra material out except for the trans and starter pattern to solve mine permanently.
I really enjoy watching this show and the bronco looks great. If I remember correctly all 302's are externally balanced, an older 302 non roller motor is a 28oz balance and you have to have a 28 oz balance harmonic balancer and flexplate, a newer roller 5.0 is a 50 oz balance. If I understand correctly you used the old 28 oz balance flexplate from the 302 onto the 5.0, if so you have it out of balance
I have the exact same ticking coming from my unit(same unit) i have on my 302...84 mustang gt. Runs like a champ but the noise can be annoying. Still going to dig deeper much later on the issue after my acl reconstruction on friday. I'll be watching in case you figure it out or sending info as ill have alot of time to research....thanks
I had a similar problem with my sniper EFI.. And it turned out that I had a kink in my return line for my fuel system. So I was getting too much fuel pressure and that made the injectors tick in the EFI. Just hook up a fuel pressure regulator or gauge and you'll be able to see the line pressure.. Not saying that is your problem but it sounds just like mine did
I installed steel roller rockers in my SBC.. now it has a sewing machine kind of sound.. Not unpleasant but different from those old stock rockers or even Aluminum roller rockers.. Betty is doing good.. She needs those door lowers...
I don't know why I didn't receive a notification when you posted this, but I'm glad It popped up and I saw it because I've been waiting on this video. It's awesome seeing the Bronco back on the road. I hope it isn't too hard to get the vibration out of it. It has to be one or the other. It meaning flywheel or harmonic balancer, or a little of both.
Surface cleaner is great! Using rubber gloves when cleaning the parts also helps in keeping impurities off of your skin from getting back on the parts while cleaning.
Every time Emily said shaft in this video i took a drink of light beer.. Now i can hardly walk and am typing one handed.. Awesome content as always... Keep it coming....
If you have a PCV in it, that might be the source of your noise. I also had the problem with the clearance with the AC pulley ended up with high flow fan PN 18217 from JEGS it is only 2 5/8" deep.
Do you have a 4-hole spacer between the sniper and the manifold? I have read that several applications have that have a "strange" sound from the Sniper, and a 4-hole removes it.
Yea I've read that too. I am going to add a 1 inch four hole when I finish my sniper install. also add the progressive linkage. But man, I don't think that's injector or the four hole. That sounds flex plate to me.
Awesome video guys, Betty is looking fantastic. and so are you Emily. love watching the two of you trouble shoot and solving the problems. very informative, Your episodes are a learning tool for everyone. Looking forward to seeing Roxy back on the Drag strip. Love your channel, God bless the two of you.
Cardboard protection for that expensive aluminum radiator! Also saves a bit of skinned knuckles. Approved. T.V. cable: throttle valve. Sets the line pressure. Important! Need some fender covers, guys.
Thanks for the video guys, I really like the details, I know it is hard to focus the camera, or put the right lights and reach a good point for the shot, but the result you achieved is perfect. Thanks again and wait for the bell notification for more videos. I recommend subscribing to this amazing channel and don't forget to put a thumbs up.🍀👍🍀
Thank you for your videos! This is giving me more motivation to get my '77 Bronco back together. It should be back on the road in a couple of weeks. Keep the videos coming!
When I did my Holley Sniper EFI on my truck I made the mistake of mounting the Holley fuel pressure regulator on the firewall. It makes that ticking sound as well.
I have heard the Sniper injectors sound a lot like lifter ticking. I also have a Bronco with a Sniper and I am always paranoid about that ticking noise but have never 100% confirmed it is the injectors. There is a really helpful facebook group with tech advice!
Great job on the Bronco! As excited as I was to see the Bronco project, I was more excited that yall used "Bolt Buckets". Just dump them on the floor to find what you need, then shovel it back in. The only problem is when your Used bolt buckets start multiplying....... Yup I have that problem. Great work yall !! I'm ready for Burnouts!!
The big problem with a flex fan in an off-road situation is that the fan flattens out at high RPM. So when you're hill climbing or running through sand and mud, you need high RPM but you're only going 5 or 10 MPH. That flex fan becomes like a barn door blocking air flow and you're not moving fast enough for ram air effect.
I tried to use an electric fan on my 302 Bronco and had the same clearance issue, so I gave up and went with a normal fan. Didn’t know about the 2” lift deal, which mine has also.
My steering shaft was flared also. I cut it parallel to the spline with a sawzall. to get the piece off, then snipped the end of the shaft to get the new u joint on it.
Good old Lacquer thinner is still the best oil and Residue remover, then as a backup, use Denatured Alcohol(mine is 99%, from Amazon).. I hope you don't mind suggestions(65 years experience) but the old style quickly pumping the brake peddle, can actually cause Foaming of the fluid, and problems. Just slowly push the peddle to the floor about 2-3 times and hold , open bleeder when the peddle hits the floor, close bleeder, slowly let up on peddle.. If no fluid at start, & with the bleeder open slowly push peddle to the floor and hold until the bleeding screw is closed and slowly let up on the peddle.. Also always start at the bleeder furthest from the Master Cylinder.. Just some old man suggestions..
One more very important ideam your missing if your doing a pardee of pinups...... sun glasses. a tub top, daisy mays, Mary Janes (heels) a big tool "wrench" in your hand and a catchphrase like "I love holding a big hard tool in my hand." LOL
I had a thought about the fan shroud, which put the electric cooling fan too close to the accessory drive pulley: I noticed that the mounting shroud is essentially a four sided box and you mounted the fan on the outside of the box, adding the fan depth to the shroud depth. Even though I’m a life long Chevy fan, I’ve always had a secret crush on those old Broncos. Good video.
I agree Tom, I'm strictly Chevy, but them Old Bronco's are really Cool.
Really enjoy the working relationship between you two. All of the smiling helps too. Nice Bronco!
I'm 'restomoding' a 76 bronco and had the same clearance issues with my electric fan and ended up mounting it directly to the radiator. Works like a charm and keeps it right at 190 degrees in this TX heat (I'm in McKinney).
They are both blessed and so am I cause they share their garage with us!! And yeah, she is awesome!
Aaron is a lucky man, and I'm not talking about the Bronco.
Dude i know, he has an airplane too... #goals
luck of the Irish lol
And a Datsun?
He clearly hit the lotto in the wife department.
Come on man, the guy is a Douche Bag she is way out of his league
Erin, don't know if you've ever heard of this trick .. but here goes. Here in the NorthWest, moisture is always a problem, and we know metal can absorb moisture as well. Loved driving her when I 1st got my permit!
I was willing to buy it when he planned on selling, but he sold it to some kid down the street from us.
I was heartbroken. 🥺😥
It always very satisfying when a long term project gets mobile again. Great to watch. Enjoy.

Love that Betty is running, you guys will work the bugs out. And we will enjoy the journey with you, stay safe.😷

Congrats on finishing the Bronco. There is nothing like finally driving a project after putting so much work into it.
Bronco is awesome. Sometimes those noises go away if you take it off road! Good information on getting the pressures right.

[ Brian ] that means a lot!! Thanks!!!

You two seem so balanced together. Good leadership 😇. Live Learn Grow Love
The Bronco looks excellent, good work. I dig the positive attitude you two bring to the show.
It's easy to see how you keep so fit! Not scared to get dirty! Keep it up! you're doing great!
Always fun ha ha tracking down the noise. I think it's your fan. Those made noise when they went fast.....
I installed steel roller rockers in my SBC.. now it has a sewing machine kind of sound.. Not unpleasant but different from those old stock rockers or even Aluminum roller rockers.. Betty is doing good.. She needs those door lowers...
I caught your joke Aaron, and I laughed! "I bet it's three times the power. It's probably up to 200 now." Well played!
Where you guys been? It’s been awhile since I’ve seen anything from you guys. Glad to see you back.

Careful, that flex fan will flex foreword during high rpm and contact your nice new radiator. That makes a big hole!
I'm in love with this Bronco!!!
Aaron: do we really need a fan!? Seems like a luxury, Funny funny. Love this couple. Get it
Surface cleaner is great! Using rubber gloves when cleaning the parts also helps in keeping impurities off of your skin from getting back on the parts while cleaning.
And the injectors on that efi system are quite loud.
Every time Emily said shaft in this video i took a drink of light beer.. Now i can hardly walk and am typing one handed.. Awesome content as always... Keep it coming....

Woow, the Bronco looks really great! You did a good job. Yes, one of the best hobbies.

Wipe down metal parts with vinegar prior to painting . The etch insures good bonding .
Good to see you back in the shop.Bronco looks awesome.

Awesome to see your usual humour and banter Emily and Aaron lol
Super excited for race weeek 2.0 plus that bronco is pretty sweet
yes its the fuel injection, i have the same sound from mine

This girl is great! And very pretty!
Use a long extension as a stethoscope. Press it to your ear and poke around until you find the loudest noise.
Emily's shirts are dialed! Love it!
It was cool to hear you mention Larry @Gearstar. He built my 4l65e in my Nova and did an amazing job.
That’s AWESOME! Larry is so great.
Glad to see y’all back on the Bronco. I am working on a 92 Jeep YJ also my daily driver so slow going lol
Is there a drinking game called: How many times will Emily change her shirt? I love the Bronco so much!
Well she was about to fall out the first one and youtube would have thrown a fit over that lol..
If that game includes the intro, light weight drinkers are screwed 😅
Great job guys....."doing it, doing it and doing it well"
Looks sparkly, great work you two
One more very important ideam your missing if your doing a pardee of pinups...... sun glasses. a tub top, daisy mays, Mary Janes (heels) a big tool "wrench" in your hand and a catchphrase like "I love holding a big hard tool in my hand." LOL
Hi Emily, I'm a new sub, you have turned Mechanics into something beautiful to watch and entertaining 👍
Flying sparks gar are you putting those rings around the driveshaft so that if they fall off thing that are nothing up
Glad I found you on TH-cam. I liked your show on tv but can’t find it anymore.
I had a thought about the fan shroud, which put the electric cooling fan too close to the accessory drive pulley:
I noticed that the mounting shroud is essentially a four sided box and you mounted the fan on the outside of the box, adding the fan depth to the shroud depth. What if you put the fan INSIDE the box, and shaved off some of the fan mounting tabs, until the fan clears the radiator. Might that get you the clearance you need on the pulley?

(this would make much more sense if I could put real sketches on here.)
Put the fan on the inside of the shroud and use additional spacers to get the fan closer to the rad.
@@dicknijenhuis9894 Exactly.
Or put two small fans on the other side of the Rad there is a ton of room upfront on the other side?
@@scottkailey1 That would work even better.
@@scottkailey1: Two fans, one on each side of the protruding pulley would also work nicely. Maybe even better than a single big fan.
@Flying Sparks Garage with regards to the noise. grab a stethoscope and put it to the injectors and see if the noise is coming from there. Old Mechanics trick.
Will you be sealing off the radiator space behind the grill? I think it will help with the cooling efficiency.
It's beautiful I have a 1973 red Ford Bronco.
Great job, Emily and Aaron!!
So cool to see her driving!! Looks great!
had a 66 in 1972 and a 77 in 1989 loved them both....could you take it out of gear And turn it off then see if the noise goes or stays?
Awesome, I’m with everyone else, flip the fan on the inside of shroud! Looks great!
Really nice looking Bronco.
New here. Great channel.
Did see an issue though. The trans dipstick needs to be mounted to the engine. It could pull out under heavy rotational load. Could be amplifying some of the noise also.🦅🇺🇸✌️
Love Betty. Needs a Betty boop painted on it.
Is there any way to sense a link for that coffee maker you have on your boat. My wife and I also have a big boat that we spend days at a time on.
finley looks great after all the relaxing time on the boat HA ! the bronco is cool as heck !
Nice job on the Bronco guys!
Y’all are awesome 😎. I just figured out the town you’re from. My parents both have siblings near there.
Love the old bronco !!! Can I clone you emely he is the luckiest guy .keep up the great work !!!
Is it possible that the noise coming from the injectors is changing as you drive? If so, then is the EFI still "learning"?
It sounded like a fan hitting the edge of something. I'm hearingly challenged though... Another great video, thanks.
Chuck Taylor's...luv it...gotta pair of patent leather pair of high tops...lol
Hi guys noticed Emily doing multiple pumping on the break pedal to bleed the brakes I was taught 3 times do u dot it ur way for a reason?
The next thing you guys need is a second hydraulic lift if your garage floor will support it! That Bronco is really lookin' AWESOME! EMILY, NEXT TIME YOU TALK TO DEREK CHECK OUT HIS HYDRAULIC LIFT.
Truck looks great!!! Congratulations
Emily, some of the chatter could be your tires, if you only hear it when the jeep is in motion try leaning your head out while you drive it.
Great video, like to see how y’all get projects done, work together well. Keep the video’s coming.
Does the fan have a impeller you can flip? If so I'd mount it to the directly to front of rad as a push fan forgoing any shroud and clearance issues
